Ok, getting a little frustrated here. I have a paradyne 6211 (the old one) and it has port triggerng only. Can anybody tell me what to put where?

I haven't experienced a speed of over 5Kb/s as yet!

Oh man, I can't understand what's going on...
I've done everything it says on here, I've allowed the ports on my router, the Bullguard firewall and the Windows firewall.

To be fair, the status bar on BT has gone from yellow to green, and there *has* been some improvements on dl speed, but they've only gone from 5kbps to 15-20kbps...

I'm on a 5 mbit connection, and the torrents Im getting all have hundreds of seeds and thousands of peers, what am I missing??
What should I set the maximum upload speed to?

*update*

ok, now it's not working at all... no uploads, no downloads, the status bar stays at "starting download"...

Has anyone come across this before?

Yeah, me! I wish I could help you ther buddy but i'm in the same damn boat. What i'm gonna do is go out and buy one of the routers that I saw on portforward.com, configure it exactly so and if that doesn't work then screw it! Let the BitTorrent team fix that connection prob. in the next release.

Heres yet another guide.(if your on router and this is on utorrent)

1) Port Forward if your isp throttles BT there might be some ports you can use. I.e 1720.
To do this go to command prompt, type in ipconfig
Remember the default Gateway and type it in the web address.
username: admin Pass: admin
when your in its going to be different for all routers.
1.advanced setup
2. Forwarding Tab
3. View Port Range Forwarding
4. Now Type in
Aplication: Utorrent
Ext.Port. 1720 to 1720
Enable UDP and TCP
Ip Address: 192...( you find this in command prompt typing ipconfig)
Check Enable
Note: If you don't have a static ip, your ip changes almost everyday so you should check it whenever you open your torrent client.
2) Firewall:
Windows Xp: - Go to control panel
- Security Center
- Windows firewall
- Advanced Tab
- Settings
- In services add your port TCP then UDP
i.e Description of Service: Torrent_TCP
Ip address: 192...
External Port:1720
Internal Port: 1720
Check TCP
Then do the same but check UDP

McAfee Firewall:
- Click on Personal firewall plus Tab
- View Internel Apllications List
- ALLOW FULL ACCESS to utorrent

Now to config settings for Utorrent
Options, preferences and then Connection
Port Used 1720

Depending on your internet speed fill in the Download and upload speed. Never put 0

Then Bitorrent tab Protocol Encryption Enable it.

And your Done. When downloading you have to wait at least 10-30 mins for your speed to hit the maximum. And if there isnt alot of seeders than dont expect crazy speeds.
My speed is around dl:80 kbs up: 20 kbs Thats close to my internet speed which is 1 mb dl and 120 kilobits upload.
Just bored thought id do this guide hope it helps.

Alright sounds cool and detailed enough but do you think you can do a mini-version about port triggering because my router doesn't have forwarding. If you don't want to then.... ok, no worries.

Is it possible to open the ports on your router for a single computer in your house? I want to make my downloads faster, but not affect any other computer in the house in any way.

I have a linksys router and I'm not sure what other information to provide.

boy this thread has been going on for ages, at least two years if i remember correctly.

Anyway, just thaught i'd post some thing that may help someone (i dunno if its already posted or not), i saw this somewhere on the web:

"Windows uses 20% of your bandwidth !

Here's how to get it back:

Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the "

This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:

Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab :

"By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.
Works on XP Pro and 2000.

Test

well try turning off any extra-functionality apps u have installed with internet explorer (especially search plug-ins) and try again. If unsuccessful, uninstall them and if still no luck then.... I'm not sure.

to im1, try typing your bt clients name where it says comment i.e. Azureus and see what happens, also turn off windows firewall and enter the bt clients name in any other firewall program you may have
