You can run ELFs through Swap Magic with a USB Memory Stick by putting a folder called SMBOOT and put your ELF inside(preferably LaunchELF), rename it to SMBOOT.ELF. Then press a button(don't know the precise one, but experiment, just don't use button combinations, it's just 1 button). You can then stockpile other ELFs in your USB Memory Stick's root directory and transfer them to the Memory Card or boot them straight from the USB Memory Stick with LaunchELF.

Right made some headway managed to get a successfull exploit install to my ps2 memory card but i cant boot it its in the system config i believe. is this because i have the latest version of ps2? if so is there any way around using the exploit to boot rather than the swap disks? just thinking of the laser n stuff. i am planning a hard drive with games on it. once again i can boot from swap magic then with smboot boot the elf files from there but was kinda hoping to do every thing either from the hard drive or memory card any help guys would be great. even if its it cant be done my version is scph77003
thanks guys

@Ace_2: OK man, i have a challenge for you!
Can you make your exploit work with PS2 save builder, as described in this thread? Link
Can you make your exploit work with ExecFTP, which would require a hookup via network cable between the PS2 & a computer? If you can pull that off, then I owe you a small bag of gold coins.
I have a feeling i will eat those words! But nevertheless, if anyone can do this I know you can. The Holy Grail of the PS2 slimline is upon us!! Raise the Independence Exploit from the grave, proving once again that $ony DRM + hardware revisions = corporate stupidity.
Ahhhh i need to link to the ExecFTP tutorial on the same site. As long as the exploit works, it should allow the linking of the PS2 to the PC, then getting into the PS2 via the FTP program. I don't see why not. Link
WOW we are really taking it to the old school now. I'm starting to show my age :) :)
To set up your PS2 for networking, try this link & be prepared to learn how ExecFTP, Faplink, and/or PS2 Link Server work. These are the legendary programs that homebrew authors were using before that vile, evil corporation known as $ony killed the Independence Exploit.
If anyone can get ExecFTP to work with the slimlines, they will have completely undone $ony's lockout of the USB ports. It will be a great day when 100% homebrew, FTP, and programming can become a reality on the slimeline. I'll take a crack at Linux if somebody can figure this out.

Well, perfect! Although, I don't have any crossover cables. Where can I get them(please link to Canadian sites only)? And what should I connect to, my computer or my modem? Either way, CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

In this thread, it's stupid for me to ask a question like this.
What's Action Replay Max?
'-Action Replay MAX(V 3.36 was used)
-MAX Media Creator(included with Action Replay MAX) '
I have to buy it from Ebay or I can download and burn it?
Thank you.

You can buy AR Max in your local gamestore. It will sell for about 40 euro (+- 46 dollars or 32 pounds). Max Media Creator is included with Action Replay MAX. Be sure to buy a version with the Media Player! Otherwise, this won't work. (READ THE TEXT ON THE COVER TO SEE IF IT INCLUDES THE MEDIA PLAYER)

Hey! I am trying to use my Slim PS2 as a media player so I can hook it up to my network and play movies, music, games from my desktop PC. I will be hooking the PS2 up to my network, but I need to know of any way that I can do this. I have AR Max with Media Player what else might I need? I tried to Download that CD Loader, but Link was not found... Any ideas?

I just wanted to say that Action Replay can be bought for $29.99 actually at Circuit City. I also have a little problem. I can never get CDloader.ELF to show up in Action Replay Media Player. It constantly says "No media files found on pendrive.".... and yes I used Max Media Creator to create the file and save on my USB flash drive.

I have a slim PS2. Using the USB method, does this mean I can load Beats of Rage and SNES Station with a CD-R WITHOUT buying modchips/keys/whatever? I can just load the swapping program on the USB drive and then put the CD-R in? For (Excluding the price on the ARMAX) free?

@Flaxer: what you're asking for is called PS2 Reality Media Player Pro. You read some about it here & download the newest version from here. Look for the msg #14 by Chilly Willy. Yes, you can have a full PS2 with Jpgs, mp3 & ripped movies all running from the system. and not involving any wires or other stuff!

Hi,
I can never seem to hit the website at console.iscentral.net. Anyone know if it's having problems, or if there's any other source for the files linked to that site in the original post?
Thanks.

That site is offline. Somebody needs to find another source & upload them to their email so they can be spread around the way files should be. hint: Zshare.net = good Rap1dshare/Megaupload & popup sites = not so good.

For anyone missing a link or two:
Cogswap ELF
http://www.mediafire.com/?0mlzmmwcazd
PS2 Exploit Utility 5.0 Public Beta
http://www.mediafire.com/?13mo2ajvzmj
And just in case anyone wanted a direct link to the PS2 Save Builder:
http://www.exploitstation.com/files/Ps2SaveBuilder08x.zip
Happy Exploiting!
-tdude511
P.S. If anyone needs help finding anything else or with the exploit I'd be glad to lend a hand =).
@xhardcore:
This can not be done on slims, however you could boot up execftps.elf with ULE and use it to transfer elfs and game saves, but the independence exploit will not work on slims =(. I see no point to this as you could just use a USB memory stick or burn the elfs rights on to the CD with the exploit utility...

thanks for the files. A few posts up I had mentioned this tutorial for using ExecFTP Server on the slim. Do you know if that pretty much still works? I have not tried it.

It would work for the first use, transferring saves from pc and memory card to each other, however the part at the end where it mentions updating exploit files is useless because the exploit can not be done on slims anyway =(. You would just run the execftp elf file in ULE instead of loading cogswap. It is still a good way to transfer saves though, and also elf files for method 2. IMO, it is easier to just use a pen drive or the other methods, however if you don't have one you can use this method. I would also recommend a router setup instead of a crossover cable, you don't need to change any of the internet connection settings or buy a special cable.
Note to ace: you don't need a memory stick for method one, you can remove that from the list of needed things ^^

I've tried a few methods but I'm still having problems...
I have an SCPH-70003 Slimline ps2
A USB stick
A memory card
Original PSX games.
Action Replay MAX Evo edition (so no MAX media player it seems) :(
I ultimately intend to hook up a usb hard drive and play games from that.
Is there any hope?

@hypersoni.....
Use this ELF tool to play PS1 games. Add it in addition to COGSWAP.ELF when you are creating the exploit disc. Then navigate to it just like you would with COGSWAP.ELF using ULE and the program will load. Take out the sensor and put in an original PS1 game, replace the sensor, it will read the disc, then do an undetected swap for your PS1 backup game and viola, it will work. All credits to Vegito 93 for this great tool.

Get some orbit on hand
@Zombie19
To install the games on the USB HD, use this tool:
http://sksapps.com/hd/USBExtreme_wininst.zip
To play them off the hard drive, use this tool:
http://sksapps.com/hd/USBADVN.zip
Haven't tested them myself, but they should work. Also make sure you have a way to swap discs undetected, I didn't see that in your list...
