Ok guys i need some major major major help and have been losing sleep past few nights as im goin nuts. For the past 3 weeks i have been gettin downloads in access of 100K/s plus using burst. This monday all of a sudden my downloads were reduced to 40K or so. My next door neighbor still was goin strong at 100K plus. I left it and still on Tuesday same problem. I can see that im not able to connect as much to other peers to download things as i was the past 3 weeks. IM being snubbed a lot more for some reason, i have noticed. I have passed NAT. I didnt change anything. SO today i got fedup with gettin 30K or so when i have been getting 100 plus.
I changed the MAC address on my linksys router, reformatted hard drive, got a new IP address, and still cannot exceed over 30K. I tried bit tornado and have noticed i still cannot connect to more than 6 peers max and am getting a lot of snubs still. WHat the heck has happened in the past four days and how do i fix this problem. Please respond anyone or email to agupta3818@comcast.net. I use linksys router and modem and have comcast if that helps.

I have this to say:

This forum is great and all u guys are as well.

I've learned a lot but would still like to know what does UCP and TCP actually do and what they're for.

Thanks to Kei who is a great help, now all i need to know is how to see IF my ports are opened.

I really don't know how to check it so i'm still not sure if they're really opened.

For example: I download at least 2 different things while i'm on.

The first one's going at a 100kp and up while the other's doing 20-30kp.

Does anyone know why it does this? Your help would be highly appreciated!!!

UCP I think what you meant to ask was UDP and TCP. I can't remember what they stand for off the top of my head but TCP is for sending packets to an address i.e. from me to you and UDP is for broadcasting packets i.e. from me to all who want to listen. Hope that answers that. As for the differnt speeds. Perhaps the slower torrent didn't have as many peers and seeds which means less people to send you data so a slower rate was all that was achived.

Hi all!

When I start Bit Tornado it starts of yellow but later turns to green. Is that normal? If it's green does it mean I forwarded my prots correctly?

I tried the NAT check and failed it.
It said "Unable to connect. This likely means you need to adjust your port forwarding configuration, or there is no client running on that port"

One more thing...WILL THOSE WHO SHOOT FROM 5 TO 200+ PLEASE STOP POSTING IT HERE!!YOU MAKE ME WANNA CRY =P

There is another reason it turns green.
Check your torrent preferences You need to uncheck the option

Force icon to display green when firewalled.

If that option is unchecked and it turns green then in my client that means the ports are forwarded. My client is bit tornado 2.0

Nope the box isn't checked, although I did check it once just to see if my speeds would go up.Then I learnt how to configure my router =].It's really scray especially when you don't what to type where and doing anything causes you not to be able to use the net for hours (ME!!).

I'm using a LINKSYS WRT54G WIRLESS BROADBAND ROUTER and a AZTECH DSL305E MODEM.The operating mode of my router is GATEWAY MODE. Does that have anything to do with it cause when I change it to ROUTER MODE I can't access anything

What speed do you usually get? I'm always between 1 to 5

Maybe I'm doing the NAT check wrong. How do I know which Torrent is using which port at when? o_O

Nightss Here are the instructions for your router. They are very easy to understand and self explanatory. Please follow the instructions to set a static ip first then proceed to forward your ports. http://www.portforward.com/linksys/wrt54g.htm

I'm workin on it

I did. All my comps have static ips starting from 100 to 102. The one using bit torrent is using 100 so I forwarded my ports to 100

Port forward really is a helpful site.I posted a link in everywhere forum I've ever visited looking for help

I think I forwarded my ports correctly cause I tried it for warcraft and now I can host games. Before that no one could join the games I hosted

usually when that happens,it means u don't have a router.

just a question:is yer ip same as yer default gateway?
if it is,then it could mean that u have no router.

Okay I finally know what I was doing wrong.I forwarded my ports correctly. My combined speeds reached my limit already.

I started using ABC torrent and when they showed my total download and upload speed , I realized my limit was already reached

I didn't notice it cause I was using bit tornado and had to open many torrents

Now my problem is ABC keeps freezing. Does anyone know how to fix that? =P

lol.my d/l speed is back to normal.but there's a catch:the first d/l is damn slow but from the 2nd d/l onwards,i reached my maximum speed!!

but it's still kinda sad.i have to wait 10hrs or more for the first d/l to complete :(
my guess is i need to connect to the internet for more than 3 to 10hrs for me to be able to d/l at max speed...well,at least it's better than nothing ;þ

help me to help u

Firts off would like to say good forum people. Helped me out trying to get decent dl speed. Trouble is that because i'm with crappy BT, they won't give me a static ip address! Is there a way to keep the ports open using dynamic ips?
atm i'm getting about 25kb dl but looking at the details, there is nothing bigger than 5kb from any of the peers...and a lot of them are snubbing me!!

Can anyone help, it would stop my hair falling out!

darjam I'm not sure I'm understanding your post. You set the static ip address not your provider. And I'm not familiar with what you mean by "I'm with crappy BT" Is that your provider?

I'm workin on it

rrr,

try fowarding the ports from 6881 to 6999.then run ABC, under action>preferences,go to the network tab,put your minimun port to 6969 n your maximun port to 6999.then click on the advance settings.on Local ip,type your ip(u can get your ip by typing run>cmd>ipconfig).save your settings exit ABC.and run ABC again.when i did this my d/l rate goes up the roof in 5 min.btw, dun forget to set your maximum u/l rate to 10kbps.after u finish yer d/l,seed it for sometime and change the u/l spd to 0(auto).hope this works.i've tried this on a few more pcs and it works like a charm.

chocfiend, posting from good old england where BT is the national phone company and the major ISP. The problem is that they won't provide static ips for their customers and so after i've forwarded the ports to one ip then it changes and I need to do it all again! I'm sure there must be a way around this and to set my own static ip but i need your help!!

Kei, I've limited uploads now and getting about 40kb which is loads better!
