I just tried the link you gave while putting in the hash from a frank sinatra download(had to think of something).
Pass!
Successfully connected and received client response.
That was just on 6881.
Nothing has started downloading yet however- I got a red frown face in Azureus.
What this about a peer blocker or something to protect your downloads?

For my settings in Azureus- what would you recommend if I have dsl that only gets about 900kb/s d/l and 135 u/l. Apparently, I am the farthest away from the main depot so this is what toast.net gives me at best. Knowing this, what should i set my settings to to get max speeds? Thanx.

please help!!
i am new at this and must have something configured wrong, because the quickest d/l speed i get is about 9kb/s, but thats when i'm "lucky" a lot of the time it's less than 1!
i am using the ABC client, have changed the prefs to include ports 6969-6999, as suggested in this forum, have entered my local IP address in the ABC advanced settings from the DOS window - still nothing!
i am using the BILLION BIPAC-7500G Wireless ADSL VPN Firewall Router, i have configured it to open ports 6969 to 6999, and 81, still nothing. i then shut doen the firewall option completely, still nothing!
i dont know if this would do anything, but i also added some TCP ports starting with 6969 thrugh the control panel/printers/server properties - still nothing!
additionally, i very often get the errors that say "problem connecting to tracker - <url open error (10060, 'operation timed out')>" sometimes the number is different, but wording is the same.
what am i doing wrong? please help!!
thanks!

Sigh...
Hello I'm a noob at all this router configuration thingy, and i'm having problems with the firewall. The highest speed I get on my computer on a bittorrent dl while on a router, is 30kb/s with the old computer, and that was whe a new Naruto episode came out. I did, w/o any problems everything that was instructed on the first page, but instead of helping me, it made things worse and turned the yellow button into a red button, on the ShadowTorrent thingy.
I am running a Toshiba WRC-1000 router (a piece of junk) with two computers. One is hooket up with an ethernet connection, the other(mine) is wireless.
Ask me, if you need anymore info. And if there is no answer for me, I'm jst going to have to throw that router away and use a direct connection on the other computer(which is a lot better and faster). I really hate this router because since it is discontinued, it makes it really hard to find help on it.
Thanks for taking your time to read this!
Btw: I have a cable(high-speed) connection which has a speed of 2mb/s, although this pc only reaches 900kb/s. Oh yea, and what is this azureus program, that I'm reading so much of? Is it better than ShadowTorrent?

So I'm on 2 meg down, 256 up and I'm getting some crap download speeds in AZ (around bloody 20-friday when I got the new connection I was managing 80-110).
I've ports forwarded 6881-6889 with both aspects (I forget, tcp and ud or whatever it is), yet still pants.
Is there something I'm forgetting in AZ (crap downloads since I updated the .jar file).
Failing that, any other recommondations for a BT client?

Ok i tried everything on this forum and couldn't find an answer to my problem:
ADSL modem router connected to a wireless access point. When my computer was hardwired to the wireless access point i had constant 50kb speeds. When i started using a wireless card, the download would start and get upto 50kb and then after about 5-15 mins or so would drop to 0kb. But the upload would remain as normal. My ports are open, i passed the NAT test, and i don't have any firewalls running. Azureus is showing loads of peers connected but 0kb speed. Wireless connection is absolutely fine. Any suggestions? Thanks

Sigh... This is getting frustrating! >:(
Ok, since nobody has answered me yet, I'll try to give a little more info on my problem. I did dl Azureus, and used the port-testing tool. I tested all ports (6881-6889) and they all failed (NAT error). I went back at the router's configuration and reconfigured it,(did pretty much the same thing as was done before). Then, I retested all ports again, and they still failed. Why does it keep on failing ?!.
Now, on the "Port Forwarding" section of my router's config screen, there is not only TCP and UPD boxes to fill in but there is also a "DMZ IP Adress" box. I usually leave that blank since I don't know what to do with it.
I hope this helps you towards finding the soltion to my problem.
Oh yea! and btw, I'm acessing my router's config screen through the internet using its IP adress not through the pc that has the router on it, because the router is not hooked up to my pc, it's on the other pc. Do you think that will affect anything?

What OS are you running. You might be having problems because of the Windows Xp firewall (if you are running that OS). You might have reseted some XP settings when you reformatted your pc.
If it's the router's fault, look at the first very first message of the first page in this topic, it explains everything you need to know.
And btw, you will not get in trouble if you tell anyone about Bit Torrent.

Lol the funny thing is I'm having the same exact problem as you are, but nobody has replied me yet. Do you think you could send me a pic of your config screen, on the section of the port forwarding.
I would reccomend being a little more patient and waiting a little more before you call Lynksys, who knows, someone out here migh be able to help you.

hey everyone.. i don't know how old this post is but i am hoping somebody will help me!
i already read through the first 8 pages of this thread and nothing has worked.
here are my specs:
OS: Windows XP
Client: Azureus
Connection: Optus Cable
Download Speed: 1~2kb
Router: D-Link 704p Rev C
ok.. i have tried forwarding my ports following the dlink guide on thier website but i still don't get any imporvements with a max download of 2kb/s.
i don't use the xp firewall and have set my ip to static. do i need to set the other computer in the network to static?
i currently hava uploads at 8kb/s and 5 uploads.
please help me! i have already tried the NAT test and my ports are open and i do get a green face when downloading but with onlny 2kb/s?
normally my donwload speed on direct downloads is reasonable depending on server i can dl at up to 600kb.
any help would be appretiated.

evo07... lol 8 pages was not enough... yes all computers on the network must have static ip addresses assigned. I know I have said this on the forum before. The other thing you must remember is that your download speed is affected by others upload speeds. So it is absolutely possible to have a green face and be downloading at 2. Many of the bt clients allow settings to be set to limit upload speeds. When your seeders are limiting your download speeds obviously will be affected.
I'm workin on it

GoldenBoi....I can't for certain say your problems are related to your computer being wireless, but I will tell you that of the many people I have helped privately with this, that the majority of problems have been wireless users. Hardwired users have an easier time getting it configured and running satisfactorily. As far as what bt client is best...everyone has their own favorite. You need to try a few and find the one that works best for you. I've tried a number of them including azureus and I like ABC but others have not had luck with that and use Bit Storm or Azureus etc. So try different ones. Also try this link foir your nat test, it will tell you why you are failing http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl
I'm workin on it

Thanks chocfiend, but i have already used that website, although I have not taken the time to read the reasons why the ports are failing.
Since people who are connected with hardwires have an easier time solving this problem, i guess I'm going to have to give the other computer(the one that is hard wired) a try at a BT dl, and see if the problem is solved there.
One more thing...how do I acess the hash id of a torrent, in azureus? This program is proving to be quite dificult for me, especially since I'm running a slow PC, it takes about 15 secs just to load the program.
Hadjir sorry for not showing you my email earlier, it's jacke2hot@yahoo.com
Ok nvm I found how to acess the hash id. I just double clicked the dlding torrent and it gave me a bunch of info including the hash id.
Ok here's what I get: "Unable to connect. This likely means you need to adjust your port forwarding configuration, or there is no client running on that port."

hey everyone!
i pass the nat test, my downloads are all green (am running abc client) although they are a sort of brownish green until i do the nat test on that specific download/port each time, and then they turn normal green again, but my download speed is still rather slow for most downloads, even those with over 200 seeds.
i am downloading 2 files at around 30kb/s and had another one reach 90 earlier (i am not downloading more than 5 at a time) but the others remain at around 1 or 2.
is there anything else i need to check? i am assuming if the downloads are green and nat test passes, the port forwarding is correct?
i have a wireless connection - does that make a difference?
am running windows xp, but adjusted the firewall settings there as well.
thanks!!!
