Low K's!

I have a Netgear DG834 Router and I use Shadow's Experimental TorrentApp S-5.8.11.

I too have set up my static ip address n forwarded the ports 6881-6889.

The light is and always has been yellow and I always average 10 - 12 ks download and around 24 - 28 ks Upload! Averaging around 450 - 500 Ks total speed.

I've studied loadsa forums as well but I still can't get a higher dl!

Any ideas?

limit your upload to 10.it'll help GREATLY.also, try using port 6969 to download cause sometimes limiting the upload won't work.i've tried on 6881 to 6889 with upload 10 but slow spd(1 to 5kbps lol n it stays on for hrs).but using port 6969 for d/l seems to work like a charm with other PCs including mine.(i reach my max d/l spd in less than 5 min)

help me to help u

i also afew more problems... it takes 5mins just to check the existing data before the d/l will begin, it use to be Much faster than that and besides, its only 41mb. Now for some reason wad i d/l isn't saving cuz i d/led until 200mb once but when i restarted bit torrent it went back to 41mb. if anyone knows how to fix all these problems pls help me.
Also, well now the d/l speeds improved a little, but how can it be so slow when i used to be getting 220kb/s. I'm using cable 1500kbps btw. And 56k users can't be d/ling this, just look at the size of this file, 1.7giggs! Btw Kei where do i put this 6969? in the preference? 6881-6969???

Many thanks Kei!

Can I ask if you then removed the open ports 6881-6889? And replaced them with port 6969 or as well as?

Tormented,

if u use ABC client,go to action>preferences>network.on the minimun port put 6969 and on the maximum port use 6999(i use 6970 since i d/l one show at a time)
optional(after u did the above):
press the advanced settings.on your local ip,type your ip.(u can get your ip by going to'Start-- Run' and type in 'cmd'. This opens a black 'dos' screen and type ipconfig in it.when u see the IP Address, use it on the local ip)
when d/ling,right click on the torrent your currently downloading select Local Upload setting and put in the limit upload rate to 10

for bittornado, click on prefs.on port range type 6969 on the first box and 6999 on the second.also,u can click on the advance option to put in your ip but it's optional.
on the main bittornado window, use 'settings for dsl/cable slow'in the drop box and limit the upload rate to 10
i reccomend using bittornado and ABC btw.i tried other clients but they give me a slow d/l rate.

stormboy,
no, u don't need to remove the open ports.instead forward ports 6881 to 6999.then follow the same instructions as i gave to tormented ;)hope this works.

if it doesn't,try removing the opened ports and follow the instructions i gave to tormented(i'm not sure if it will work since i don't have a router but do try it anyways ;p).

i've learn something from this,do some experiments with the client^^.i heard this from somewhere but isn't port 6969 usually used for trackers or something like that?(correct me if i'm wrong)

help me to help u

I have no idea what is going on with my internet connection. I have my computer configured with my ports forwarded, and I am running on Windows XP with Azureus. I have a DSL connection and a Belkin FSD5230-4 router. My question is, everything work fine, and i can get a decent connection (around 30kbs or so) with the green face, but once i exceed that amount of speed, my router cuts off my internet for a few seconds and resets on me. What is going on?? i need some help here!! :S

Hey all-

I read through the entire thread, and attempted to follow all of the steps, yet I can't even do the first one (where I enter the IP to get to the router site). I've done the port scan, and found that I do indeed have ports 6881-6999 closed, and my modem shows up on portforward.com as a router, but I can't for the life of me get to that page. I'm on Verizon DSL, with a Westell 2100 modem (verizon claims that they block no ports, from the tech support I've spoken to) - can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong so that I can at least get to that router page?

Thanks in advance.

dlman2 -
I don't have a router, but my dsl modem (Westell) shows up on www.portforward.com as a router. I don't have a firewall either, so I don't know what the problem is.

no luck with http://192.168.0.1

I'm using Azureus or Shadow's Experimental, neither seems to be working very well - maybe 5-9k/s

My XP firewall is disabled altogether, as well as I have checked to make sure that both azureus and the belkin config page are both set to the same ports.
