I would do the 1.9g update before running SMG. (However the other way around works too, in fact all the people who ran SMG and had problems, were able to fix them running 1.9g afterwards).

Use the HACKED 1.3 disc. Follow the instruction in my post here.
Please use the correct region for your Wii.

For stubborn problems see p.7 of this thead and my discussion with 666.
---> If you're not able to run Gamecube or GCOS discs (trying different burns) then your Wiikey may be dead or something could be wrong with the soldering.

Padded images are already filechopped to 1.35GB, ready to become GCOS.
To make GCOS discs you use WiiUI (from first post). Select the correct region and select 1 GAME as the number of games. You will be prompted to choose the name of the GCOS image to save, and then the select the image to include in your GCOS disc.
You will need a GC controller to run a GCOS disc.
Check p.7 for my discussion with 666 and also try to Config your Wiikey using the HACKED 1.3 disc using the instruction here.

ok Rafa but everytime i turn the region override on reset then it turns back off?

Well, there are no issues with Metroid Prime 3, with the exception that it has an update that needs to run in order to function. Therefore using an image from your Wii's region should work just fine.
(There have been people not able to run this using DVD+R discs)
I know that there were people who came up with a way to play MP3 US on a PAL console without double channels by doing this:
To play on pal machine.
1. Ofcourse download the game.
2. Extract the ISO-files with WinRAR.
3. Make TWO NEW FOLDERS.
4. Copy the original ISO and paste one into EACH of the new folders you have created.
5. Run ONE of the copyed ISOs (leave the original alone...!) with Brick Blocker.
6. Run the OTHER copyed ISO in Region Frii (convert FROM USA to PAL!) (dont know if runing it through Region Frii is necessary, but I did it...)
7. Now burn TWO discs. ONE with the ISO that was "BrickBlocked" and the second disc with the one that was "Region Friid" (keep order of which disc is Brick Blocked and which is Friid...!).
8. Now you have two copies of Metroid Prime 3, right?
9. Try to insert the BRICK BLOCKED game. Black screen. No problem.
10. Insert the Region Friid game. It will now say "Initiating Wii System Update" and you can press "OK". Press OK, then on the next message press "I accept".
11. NOW! Let the update run for SOME SECONDS. Let perhaps 10-15% of the bar get blue, then UNPLUG your wii console!!!!!!
12. Insert the power again, turn on your Wii. You do NOT have double channels now.
13. Insert the game that you Brick Blocked (the one that used to give you a black screen...). Let it load, and BOOM; it works. Now you have a working Metroid Prime game and a non-doubled Wii

It shows as OFF, but it's really ON. That is normal. It's like that for everybody.

last questions:
1-is it really ok to update i've reading many problems/complaints with backups and GC games.
2-about the region override yes ur right cause i just played Mario striker (PAL) xD
however i can't put the direct official 1.3 configure it says "the eject then reset thing" so i have to use the HEX one then put the official one after it.
Advice is ever in want.

1) Yes it really is OK to update using the update from your region.
2) That's why is good to have all these options .. usually, unless there is a physical problem with the chip, everybody finds what works with their system ... it only takes patience, persistence, and lots of reading.

Correct me if i am wrong:
1) It appears that you Wiikey is working fine, because it is able to recognize and run the 1.9g update disc
2) However the disc freezes whben trying to update
This is a burn/disc problem:
1) Are you using DVD-R discs?
2) are you burning them at 2x or 4x
3) What brand are your discs?
4) What software are you using to burn the discs?
please answer all questions. (I know that everything else works, but, trust me, it's a burn problem)

1-yes
2-x4
3-Imation (we don't have many brands here and the configure one was the same brand which worked)
4-IMG burn
it might be the burn process but ney ney the famous "sexy" is not showing with wiiUi right?
plz i'm dizzy and sleepy and my DVD 25 pieces package finished :(
i'll have to buy another one if it's a burn problem

A couple more things:
1) Download the original 1.9g, burn it to DVD without filechopping (no GCOS). Try this DVD 15 times.
2) If 1 does not work, then filechop original 1.9g, burn it to DVD (no GCOS). Try it 15 times.
3) if 2) does not work, then download 1.9g, filechop it, make a GCOS image with WiiUI. Burn the image and try it 15 times (You will need a GC controller to run GCOS discs)
If you have these discs already try them out in the sequence I gave you and report back.

@rafadawn ---------------> Thanx for the help. Just knowing other people got mp3 to work made me try some more and success!!
I had a good burn right from the begining. When I inserted the disk it did not show up as anything. So I burnt another and brickblocked it.
I inserted it and it showed up in the wii menu, click on it and then start it. Nothing but black screen and have to reset wii. So i tried yet again with another burn put it in and it never showed up in the menu. I thought to myself maybe i need to click on it, anyways I felt like a dumbass when it started the update LOL. It updated and all is good.
Tried my brickblocked burn and that works too. I know have 3 good copies.
If you burn a disk and it does not show up in the wii menu, try clicking on the icon where it should show up.
Anyways sometimes things are just that simple. LOL

hey rafadawn i really need help. i tried fixing my wiikey since it cant read any of my backups. i tried the 1.9g beta fix disc, with GCOS, and the bootdisc 1.3 by itself and GCOS and the config disc by itself and with GCOS! when i put them into my wii all it says is "cannot read disc. please read the Wii operations guide for more information" crap... please help? but please reply to this on my thread:

hey rafadawn i have a question for the hacked file i downloaded i tried double clicking the bootabledisc_US but nothing happens except for a quick flash of black in the top left hand corner help please

okay i read some of the thread and i edited the hacked disc so it wouldnt be 4GB. i got a reaction with my wii sometimes with that disc and that it would go to a black screen saying "an error has occurred. press the eject button and remove the disc, then turn the wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting". so i have a feeling my wiikey hasnt given up completely... what should i do now?

That quick flash creates an ISO image in the same directory as the BAT file.
That ISO is the file you burn.

Need to test this, but i don't have many discs left so i hope this works. If it's not working i need to check the soldering. And if after that it doesn't work i'll need to get new modchip...
The Wiikey Deluxe would've been easier, but there were none left.

I have a Japanese Wii upgraded to FW 3.1J by Super Mario Galaxy but the game won't play though it appears on the wii menu. The screen turns black and the system cannot be turned off. I've tried to upgrade wiikey to 1.9G and turn Region Override on but still won't work. And when i use Wii Settings, it goes to Opera help and can't do any setting. Other games that can't play are Big brain Academy, Avatar, My Word Coach, etc.. Anyone can advise what to do? Thanks in advance

If you download HACKED 1.3 and extract the files, you will have a folder named Config 1.3, with three bat files.
CASE #1 - HACKED 1.3 in Wii mode
Double click the BAT file for your region and it will create an ISO image.
(For instance, if you double-click BootableDisc_JAP.bat then the image bootdisc.jap.iso will be created.)
CASE #2 - HACKED 1.3 in GCOS mode
Each bat file will make a 4.37GB image, whereas we need a 1.35GB one to make a GCOS out of it using WiiUI.
Here is what you do:
Select the bat for your region. Right-click on it and select EDIT. The file should open in Notepad. Change the number 4699979776 to 1459978240.
Now, save and close the bat file, then double click on it to run it. It will run for few seconds and it will create an image 1.35GB in size.
Make a GCOS of it using WiiUI and burn it at 2x or 4x on a good DVD-R disc. Run it (you will need a GC controller) and use it to turn REGION OVERRIDE ON. You should be all set after it.
NOTE: Read the readme file that comes with the HACKED 1.3 archive.

2) Are you sure that SMG is a Japanese version and not a PAL or US one?
3) Did you use the correct region for the Wiikey update?
I think you semi-bricked your Wii by playing a game(s) from a different region. Get your hands on WiiFIT (JAP) and probably it will fix your problem.
