Can anybody please help me? has anyone experience this problem too? i've read all the pages of this thread, and i've done at least everything that i could do.. my wii is modded already. someone
heeeellllpppp.

Well i guess we can pretty much eliomnate your media as the problem..So your next two options are your burner, burning program and modchip installation or all three...try dumping the game on someone else computer who has a different burner....you cant go wrong with the pioneer 112d its only 30$ and its a great buy.And as far ias in the installation just redo if u did yourself to just make sure...not liek you have any otehr options right?

Re: sirchin's message

I have a wii that I bought already modded (Japanese model made and modded in China), and while most backups play fine, I've had the exact problem you mentioned with 2 or 3 games. I've tried using different media, and in one case I even downloaded a different dump. The game shows up in the channel box, then in the pre-game intro screen, but once I click start the screen goes black.

Is your problem with all games or a few certain games? Mine is only with a few. The ease with which other games have functioned leads me to believe it isn't a problem with my burner or media. I'm worried my modchip simply may not work with some games.

What modchip do you have? Mine may be the same, and I'd love to search for more information about it so I can decide whether or not to get it replaced. Or maybe someone else here has another idea....?

Hi, i'm new here, but have a few questions;

is this a good dvd-drive for making back-ups of a wii game ?

it's a "Lg Dvd 16x Bulk Black"
url > http://www.codima.be/product/2007/lg_dvd_16x_bulk_black.aspx

please let me know, because when i use my dvd drive now it always says: Error!!! you might have a faulty drive, when it start dumping the disk.

by the way, what's te best modding chip on the market right now (wiikey?) (it's the first time i'm going to mod a console)

hello. i'm looking at setting up a moded wii. i was going to go with wiikey, is this still the best choice? also i'm running a vista laptop i was going to get one of the lg drives from the overview in message 1. to run it from my leptop i was going to get a 5.25 drive enclosure. is there anything vista related i should know? (i.e. will the lg drives run on vista, will any enclosure work with vista or do i need to find a vista compatable enclosure?)

First I would like to thanks you for your backup guide but I have a problem. I am burning a backup of marioparty 8 and it got to 88% then at the top it kept saying read errors from sector (insert number) to (insert number). I am very confused with this. Should I leave it alone or change something? By the way I am using Nero burning rom 7.

I LIKE OREOS!

I am having the same problem as others have reported recently. Some games work fine, some show up on the "channel" and even get to the "Wii Menu" and "Start" screen with the game title, but when I press "Start", it goes to a black screen and doesn't do anything.

I've noticed this only (so far) seems to happen on games I've downloaded, and only some. Any games I rip (again, so far) work fine. I tried using RegionFrii on them in case they were J games, but no avail. Here is what I have so far:

Works fine:
Mario Party 8 (torrent download)
Super Paper Mario (torrent download)
Cooking Mama (torrent download)
Marble Mania (ripped from original)
Barnyard (ripped from original)

Doesn't work (shows on channel, but black screen after)
Pangaya! Golf (torrent download)
Zelda: Twilight Princess (torrent download)

Granted, it's a limited data pool thus far, but I think it's definitely a trend. I suspect all the ones that don't work are PAL games since they didn't work at all until I went into WiiKey's configuration and set the region opion to on. (can't remember what it's called off the top of my head)

Does anyone know how to overcome, or should I just be concentrating on getting real games and ripping?

Thanks!

I have the same problem, I posted 2 pages ago that the difference I see between the games that work and the games that don't work is the ISO size. Alle games with ISO size 4.37 GB work. Games with ISO size
4,589 GB don't work..............

Every game I have tried has been 4.37 GB, and still I get this on a few... I remember seeing that the game must be exactly 4.37 GB to work, so I have been checking this every time.

This is not a good indication. I've found using different programs show different sizes for these iso's.

You should be comparing the actual size of the iso(right click on iso and going to properties). All the exact figures stated on the very first post of this forum (the help guide) is all you need for the iso to work. I always check after dumping and I haven't had a single problem.

If the game doesnt work, it's either not compatible with the modchip (Mario Party 8 NTSC on PAL Wii), or you will need to patch the ISO with WiiFrii or whatever the program is called.

ISO size is always the same 4.37 GB. Always by right-clicking and checking properties. Like I said, some this size that are downloaded from a torrent work, some don't. All ripped from actual Wii game are this size, and work. All should be compatible with WiiKey, and I have tried RegionFrii, and it doesn't work.

All I have dumped so far have worked, like others so far, only ones downloaded so far don't work. I've already signed up for Gamefly, so it's not a big deal, I just wondered if there was some way to fix the ones I downloaded. Not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience... :)

Your Wii will show the game at the start up screen, but when you actually try and play it, it goes blank (black screen)?

It is because our TV sets (North America) are equiped to handle NTSC gaming systems. If you try and play a PAL VHS or PAL camcorder on your TV, the same thing will happen (nothing can be seen)

I don't think it is your DVD burner or anything, just the wrong selection of back up games.

BTW, when backing up an image (.ISO) file, use CloneCD or CloneDVD (max. 8x). So far, 95% of my titles play and I've backed up close to 50 titles (NTSC american and NTSC Japanese games)

That makes sense, thanks. So there's no way to fix this, just re-download the game and make sure it's NTSC?

I had a problem (that I've worked around) and I thought I should share my results.

Problem: rawdump 2.0 would not recognize my LG8164b drive (wouldn't show up in the drop down list of drives

Solution: rawdump 2.0 would only recognize the drive once I had set the jumper on the drive to MASTER

Has anyone else had this problem??? And if so, is there another solution?

Another thing... anyone have any news or info regarding the ability/inability to play online games once the Wii has been modded with a WiiKey??

Just installed my WiiKey a couple of hours ago... sweeeeeeeeeet! I had already backed up Mario Party 8 and Big Brain Academy and they work perfectly.

Thanks to all for posting their thoughts and experiences and knowledge for us forum-readers (mostly readers) to mine information.
