like so many others I too have a low download using Bittorrent (Torrentstorm in my case)
I have a speedtouch 510 modem and I tried the port forwarding, only when I had done that none of my downloads were able to connect.
the stuff I typed in user.ini looks like:
create protocol=tcp inside_addr=10.0.0.158:6881 outside_addr=0.0.0.0:6881 foreign_addr=0.0.0.0:0
I have a firewall, but shutting it down has no effect on the downloads
with torrentstorm I allow 4 connections at a time, does that mean I have to open more ports as well?
don't those ports change everytime I start Torrentstorm?
any help would be greatly appreciated :D, 'cause 3kb/s isn't much when downloading 1 Gig

back to the cheesey Azureus, i tried out port 6882..
i went to config > server > i put in 6882
i have this number forwarded..
Q: do i forward these ports to my static IP or my computer IP??
anyway i do a NAT check with 6882 and i get:
Attempting connect to: 203.113.233.21 port 6882
Fail!
Successfully connected, but didn't get proper a BitTorrent client response. Make sure you entered a correct hash ID that corresponds to the active torrent on your system. Most likely, your network is properly configured, but repeat this test with a valid hash ID to be sure.
Response was: '

Hi guys... I'm new here...
and I think I need help... :S i'm sure I need it...
i have bitTornado last bersion
Win2000 pro with Service Pack 4
McAfee AntiVirus and Firewall
SURECOME EP-320X-S
The Problem is not BitTornado... my friend is using it fine
The problem is not Win2000... I Formatted the PC thinking that it's the windows but it's still the same
It's not McAfee firwall either... I TOTALLY Disabled it
And as I can see it's not the router... all the ports from 6881 ~ 6999 are forwarded
BitTornadeo used to give me a speed of 20 ~ 30 kbps
and upload around 10 ~ 12 kbps
this all happed with a [[GREEN LIGHT]]
one day all of a sudden it became yellow *I think i started to hate that yellow :(*
I've been searching websites since a long long time...
and I found an interesting stuff about a file called "ASAP/IP" or some thing close to this which closes most of the ports when a program allowing more than 1 port to connect to the internet is working...
probably sharing programs...
but since Kazaa is working fine... I guess this is wrong...
I'll be so happy to hear any suggestion...

Do you have the same problem with the original bit torrent client??
Unless u have setup differntly ure router should let maximum traffic pass. You could try use netlimiter http://www.netlimiter.com to see if any other programs are using any bandwith. Try another torrent client, if that goes well its sure to be torrent-tornado.

dtcobra u forward the ports to the static ip address....thats why u set a static ip address lol.when u did the nat check how did u put in the hash id? the easiest way is to copy and paste it so u don't transpose a number etc.

Dear chocfiend
That's a really nice thing to know... :) my experiance is growing everyday thank u... for now i know something about TCP/IP...
but that wasn't helpful :( my light is still yellow and peers upload more than I can download
Dear mauzzer
I'm absolutly sure that Tornado is fine because my friend is using it and getting @ least 30 kbps...
and I'm also sure that nothing is using my bandwidth but me...
Before 15 days I used to get a green light with 30 ~ 40 kbps and peers upload around 10 kbps from me
and after i installed SP4 after 1 day the light became yellow...
I thought that it's the SP4 or even the windows so I formatted the computer but still the same problem
anymore help???

Hi, thought I'd throw this out there in case someone has had success with my config. I've tried everything... I think.
I have an NTL 750k cable modem going into a D-Link 604 Router, and I'm having the usual 5kb/s download with 20kb/s upload. Strangely even at these speeds - browsing web pages whilst a torrent is running results in 56k browsing speeds.
Cheers
Red

Then it seems that lots of people having the same problem afterall... it's not only me
Fast Upload and Slow Download with a yellow light
anyway I found this while searching...
http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/37.html
it says that "This issue is still unresolved, but my guess is that it's due to buggy firmware in the xDSL/cable modem or router"
what's "Buggy firmware"?????

I just did this Nat Check test @ http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl
I did it on the file:
"The.Exorcist.The.Beginning.TS.Xvid.(maVen)-OneCD-AVI.torrent"
info_hash: 2dc9de9b8d8b66ed956a0363f7a37f22e55d9d74
and I got a "F" :(
it says that:
Fail!
Unable to connect. This likely means you need to adjust your port forwarding configuration, or there is no client running on that port
BUT I'M %100 SURE MY 6881 ~ 6999 PORTS OF TCP AND UDP ARE ALL FORWARDED TO MY ROUTER IP ADDRESS
everything is EXACTILY the same since the light was green... what is the problem??? what's making the light yellow??? :(:(:(

I fixed it by specifying my IP adress etc to the network instead of obtaining automatically.

7amood wut redlum is talking about is setting a static ip which i believe i sent u a link for. however did you say SP4? I believe that has a new firewall in it. I'll bet that is causing ur problem. Any firewall has to be either disabled or ports forwarded as well. I don't have a link for it as yet but do a search for it and see if you can come up with the instructions to either open ports in it or turn it off.
I'm workin on it

I went to the Static Ip link...
I just didn't know what's the
Name Server
Preferred DNS server
Alternate DNS server
what was that?
I can't find my router in the www.protforward.com list
but I think I did the right thing in forwarding my ports.
chocfiend... I'll did some searching about the Static IP and found no good instructions... but I'll do some more... :)

7amood i doubt ur going to find better instructions on setting a static ip address than what i gave u from www.portforward.com read it agin from start to finish it is very self explanatory. When u do ipconfig all all the information u need is given to u there just write it down. u should see a dns server listed, you may not have an alternate dns sever, these are the name servers. If it doesn't show one then u have to call ur isp and ask them for it. I still believe SP4 has a built in forewall in it that u will have to disable. And what is the make and model of ur modem and the make and model of ur router?
