Aye... I have bittornado and my dl speed ( since ive messed around recently) went from 5 to about 15kps .... but my upload speed is horid... about 38kps
The Light always stays yellow... i havnt had green for months... but i realized i could get more outta this
I would to dl at the greater speeds... bout 50kps at the least...
I have 6881 - 6889 open ... tcp ( ports ) (Linksys)
bittornado prefs set to the same.
I have no firewall activated ( norton,xp2,router)
I have 3 computers on a wlan ....Well 2 computers are wireless... the one download from is wireless
Im not sure if this effects it but i think it does...
ive heard bout a static ip ... should i have one? and to work does it need be done to all three computers?
This is what the nat test said
Attempting connect to: 68.108.169.3 port 6881
Fail!
Unable to connect. This likely means you need to adjust your port forwarding configuration, or there is no client running on that port.
Thank you

My Azureus client has everything set up the way everyone specified. I've got my Firewalls with their ports opened, I've opened the ports on my router congif, I've got a static ip address open and I'm running on 256kbps DSL but for some reason Azureus stays yellow saying I don't have a remote connection. I'm getting crappy and inconsitent D/L speeds and I wanna know how I can get a remote connection.
[EDIT:] Nevermind, I got it working. Thanks goes out to Chocofiend.

Can anyone please tell me the default port settings that comes with Bit Tornado. It is the section that say Port Range from and to.
I had it working with the standard settings, but changed them and now it is not working
at all.
Weird but when i uninstall and re-load the program it has my changed setting.
Many thanks

Dont know what am i doing wrong.
I have a NetGear RP614
I have enabled port forwarding between 6881 - 6889.
In the netgear RP614 you can't choose TCP or UDP so i assume both of them are enabled
Question: Do i need to activate UPnP ????
WHat happend
after allowing those ports i turned on Azureus and when i download it went green the light.
It did that one time and now i have tried to download other stuff and it does not go green again.
I can only get downloads up to 20kb/s some rare times and i have cable 750KB so i should get at least something like 60 or 70kb
Another thing, in the new Azureus you can check if it can comunicate via the port 6881 and it works.
So what is wrong?
Thank You

However I meeant the port range in the preferences
tab in bit tornado when you install it.
I am sure that the upper limit was 10000

Hello, I am new here (first post).
Anyway, last week Thursday I was using Bit Torrent and the download was dead slow. Like 8k MAX slow. I have a 512kbps connection.
I am from UK and I have a router, however, my connection is with Wanadoo, therefore it was best if I stuck to what they recommended, which was their wireless package, which suited what I need to do.
Problem is, I read all your guides on the ports and all, but I have no idea what I am meant to do. Its just so confusing.
The router just says Wanadoo on it, but when I used the Gateway ISP I managed to log into the Inventel area to configure the router so I assume it is made by Inventel.
Anyway, this is where I got to, but had no idea what information I needed to put in.
I have no idea what Server is or the Server IP address.
So please help me fill in each form so I can carry on downloading faster than 8K.
This is what it looks like.

mesqui it sounds like u have not set a static ip address on ur computer that sis the first step for bt configuration. A static ip needs to be set for every computer hooked to ur router.

alison the port range in preferences should be the same port range u set in ur router configuration when u forwarded ur ports and it is usually 6881-6999. Bit tornado shows a different set aof ranges when u first dl it but those should then be changed to what ever u forwarded. Make sure after u set that, you then close the tornado program and then reopen it as changes to it will not take effect til u close it and reopen it.

RyuKazama ok I'm not familiar with every brand modem or router out there but they are looking for in the service box for u to name these ports that you are forwarding so click the manual box and type in torrent, in protocol open the pull down menu and you should see the option for tcp choose that. in external port and internal port I believe they want the port range here. However some modems allow a range and some only allow one port, its difficult to tell what yours wants but u can try 6881-6999 in both areas, server ip address will be ur computers ip address which can be found by going to start run command ipconfig/all (it appears to be 192.168.1.11 from the scrren shot but check it to be sure) If this doesn't work, call ur isp and ask them, they can walk you thru it. It is not illegal to forward ports. Make sure you also set a static ip address for all computers on ur network before you forward your ports and also either open ports in all firewalls ur running or disable them.
I'm workin on it

Ok so after 2 days of reading all of these posts I am still downlaoding at crappy speeds. I tired opening the ports on the router and it didn't sem to work so I just unplugged it. Then I tried opening the ports on XP and it didn't work so i disabled it. I tried tweaking settings in Azureus and still nothing. Tried IMing choco but getting no reply. Anyone have a clue what might be wrong??

I have opened ports on 6881 - 6889 using Windows XP and that sems to be fine. Is this port forwarding?
Do I do this on bit tornado. Would this increase the download speed? I am getting d/l of 25 k/b. I have
a 500k connection. I had to do a system restore to
get the factory settings for bit-tornado 10,000 to 60,000- which as I said gives me 25k download. ]
What is the implications of leaving it like this??
I believe that I do not have a router. I have followed the thread and my cable modem is Scientific Atlanta ( Blueyonder Broadband UK- NEONE else confirm) It did not seam to be there.
The diagram sent in by the other helper matches my installation. Co axial, desktop modem and ethernet cable to computer.
Is this all I need to do.
Thanks for your patience, but I have learned this all in one day.. which is not too bad I suppose.
thanks

chocfiendyou said "mesqui it sounds like u have not set a static ip address on ur computer that sis the first step for bt configuration. A static ip needs to be set for every computer hooked to ur router."
well the router does that automatically
there are 4 ports and we are all number 2 3 4 5
starttign with me that is the 2
are u sugestign i change the TCP/IP setting to force it to be 192.168.2 or u are talking about some change in the router?
by the way i check my ip when i log in and i route the ports to MY ip ofcourse
what should i do next?

Ok, so all of the above tried... but to no avail. I'm running on a Mentor Asdl FR4 through a Netgear DS104 hub, Even bypassing the hub makes no difference.
I have Zone alarm pro, but i've unblocked TCP and UDP ports to enable straight through connection. I've altered all Azureus settings but still no Joy.
I think i'm going to put it down to the fact that my bittorrents are just meant to be done at night! unless, that is, anyone has any other ideas??

Currently my attempts to set a static IP are falling short of expected standards... Simply because the DNS server my ISP provided is reeking havoc with my LAN causing server timeouts more often than not, so i'm currently in cahoots with my ISP tech team as i believe this is where my problem lies... will keep you updated though as i go along (and hopefully find sucess!!)thanks though chocfiend
