very good point man ,one thing is always 100% sure sony consoles last longer then competition consoles, psx lasted alot longer then n-64 and sega saturn or what ever was the competitor.
we can all cleary see the ps2 is going to last longer then xbox and gc.
so the ps2 is a monster thats for some reason still selling like its 2002 or something, ps2 still selling like freaking hot cakes.
so when you say ps3 vs. 360 ,dont forget ps2 beacuase ps2 aint going no where.
last time i checked ps2 was the best seller in america.
the battle is really ps2 vs. ps3 vs. xbox 360.

the ps2 is just spread wide. once the ps3 comes it it will lower significantly in sales, but still own the catagory of the people who are cheap and just want some games. it really is no competator in terms of what sales will be come the ps3 release.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

good point anubis, im just asking a question and im not trying to start a flamewar here or anything...this isnt even directed at any specific person but im wondering why SOny fans are so loyal? all other game fans dont show such loyalty to one company but sony fans NO matter what will buy their game consoles.my best friend has had 4 ps2's break on him and he's buying ps3 no questions asked(and he even keeps buying ps2's when they break). i understand they have good games and all but that seems not to matter anymore.thats ridiculous, i myself have had to buy 3 ps2's and that is the reason i will never buy a sony console again. i have always tried all systems out and had never been a fan of the ps2 or xbox more than any other system but im a madden nut so when my ps2 broke i lost madden which was unacceptable to me. Now i actually see that MS has a really good product in the xbox 360 with some promising games out already and a plethera due out in the future. i keep seeing in the forums that 360's suck and that they overheat but we all know that ALMOST every system out has launch issues and issues with quality in the early stages of the system being out(ps2 was no exception to that). so like i said i dont want a fight but just curious why sony fans are so loyal? if i could of used a different term than "sony fans" i would have but its a little tough in this case...

nah all system's fanboys are the same, not just Sony. Everyone has a brand they stick to. Cocacola vs pepsi, mcdonals vs burger king,etc.
Sony just has more of 'em.

i had no problem with my ps2, worked for many years a-ok. no laser failure, no breaking at all. (cept when i opened it and bleep up a connector for the controller ports...but thats not them) and even then so, well past warrenty, got a new one. they are lienent and made with quality.

Hello. Anubis66, it's great that nothing ever happened to your ps2 (yet). However, the reast of us are not so lucky. When an electro-mechanical product is purchased, there's always the possibililty that it maybe defective. It doesn't matter if it's new or used. Nothing man made lasts forever. That has been proven since the dawn of man. I've had a xbox since the 1st release & it's still going strong.
Also you have to consider the durability factor. For those of you that have kids know what I mean. My kids destroyed our 1st ps2. So I had to get either the GC or Xbox (something that could take a beating). Since also they're rough on cd/dvds I had to get a xbox (modded of course). Let me tell ya, that xbox has had it's fair share of bumps, bruises, drops, step-ons, Kicks.. etc.. There's no way a ps2 can take that kind of punishment. Now when the PS3 is released..don't think for a minute that some of those won't be defective.
Now, I like some of the games the ps2 has. But if those same games were on the xbox, I wouldn't even touch a ps2.
Back to the SUB. Sony, M$, & Nintendo are going to wage a console war. The battlefield will be the games, features, price, & customer service. I hope this WAR produces some of the BEST games this next-gen has to offer (no matter the console).

umm anubis, i think you are cool, but you are going to hate me, cause this isnt true.
Yea it is a trusted company. However cd players are becoming outdated, and replaced with mp3 players which neither sony or ms will ever be a contender in.
But the fact remains that sony today isnt the same sony from 3-4 years ago. There is a definite decrease, although i wouldnt nessecarily say sony is going to meet their demise, or is dying.
But they no longer dominate, multi-media wise.
Don't hate me man. But its the truth, i had to call that one down the line.

they are not dieing but from what i can remember about 5 years ago sony were basically the best in most fields of products now they are on par with most other companies.

Could someone tell me what the Pro's would be for Sony putting in a Blu-ray Drive rather than a HD-Drive. Aren't they both close to being the same capacity and what would it affect game wise ( with all the left over space with the Blu-ray drive )? Could it potentially boost graphic potential?

bluray disks have gotten to be 200gb. the average onse are 50 dual layerd, and the average HD-DVD is 30gb dual layer. plus bluray outputs at 1080p. and graphics will be able to take up more room which means more detail can be taken.

it basically confirms what youve probably read already. the cheaper ps3 bundle loses alot of what the ps3 was supposed to offer, lol like 1080p. no wi-fi either. oh and theres no dual hdmi support for either of the versions. sony again, has failed to deliver what was promised. oh yaeh i was wondering if anyone could shed light on this cos i cant find it any where. on the pictures of the ps3 pad there appears to be 4 lights on the back numbered one to four. do you think this could indicate as to what numbr player you are and that sony have dropped the 7 player thing. i think 7 player would have looked to odd split screen anyway.lol

Sony has dissapointed gamer fans once again. Although sony fans are happy as ever becasue they care not what the console has as long as it has Sony's name branded on it somewhere.they launched a yr after the 360 and had no origninality. thye snagged the nintendo wii's controller idea,borrowed off xbox live with the ideas of playstation card and with the arcade idea.ther is NOTHING unique about the ps3 other than the expensive Blu-ray player inside of it.its now clear sony is no longer the leader of the group. i hear people complaining about xbox live costting money but then they turn around and blow extra cash on the ps3...a little hypocritical.to make there money back sony will have to sell atleast 8 games per console which isnt an easy task.It's just sad to see the lack of initiative sony had in creating new ideas for their new console. more sad than that is how their fans dont seem to be bothered one bit that the gameing side of it suffers and took longer to release for the movie playback side of it all.their customer service blows,its just a sham.if ur getting a console get the 360 which has a killer titles due out later this yr not to mention some of the great titles already out. its cheaper and a better deal(xbox live has no competition and is amazing). if thats not ur thing then snag a nintendo wii,lots of originality on the gaming side,tons of exclusives and it will be really cheap!the 360's graphics are equivalent to the ps3 and better than the nintendo wii,in reality the difference wont be all that noticeable between the ps3 and the 360.if you want the total package get a 360,u want an overpriced imitation of multiple console get a ps3,u want a unique hell of a deal on a price type of console go for the ninetedo wii!
