I'm pretty sure HDTV sales will go up, as it probably has done since the release of the 360.

But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

First off HDTV sales are not the result of new consoles. That is a ridiculous assumption. I bought my 60"HDTV because I want to watch tv with a better picture, not for games. I could care less if I had to play H2 on a 9" black and white screen, which I've done before and loved it the same. HDTV is a great technology and sells itself. It doesn't need the help of home consoles to sell it. Anyone who buys an HDTV just for games has got a few wires crossed and priorities in the wrong place to begin with, at least from a psycological evaluent perspective.

I think it does affect the sales to be honest. I personally don't care for HD, but i'm sure 'rich-kids' will get a big HD screen to play there games on.

i think anyone who needs a large an expensive tv to look at and melt away to needs a life. atleast when used for gaming your getting into something and using alot more mental power more than laying there to watch wraslin' would. im buying one for the gaming experience, and ill use it for normal tv when i dont feel like having a life or gaming.

u guys are started to sound like my grandma who refers to the tv as the 'idiot box' dont be too quick to judge the idea of large tv's. we have a 60" sony, that is amazing. Large tv's are not a waste of life depending on someone's lifestyle..yes if you are like homer simpson who rests his beer on his belly and watches tv all day, then your right, but for people like myself who enjoy watching sporting events and movies, its fabulous. Right now the hockey playoffs are going on and our team made it to the conference finals, every game we have a party with friends and family. Believe me when i say its a totally different experience, and the only place i'd rather be than in my living room, would be at the arena or ballpark. also another example is just this past weekend my nephew had his first communion, and we took pictures using our digital camera and put up a slideshow on the tube..... needless to say its awesome. so there are numerous non-convential ways to use tvs these days, and i must admit you do not need this large of a tv to have the same satisfaction i get from things, but having this makes it that much better, and i cant wait to play the ps3 on the bigscreen :)

If your going to spend money on a gaming console that rants and raves about its graphical power i dont see you wouldnt maxmimize it with an HDTV its kinda moronic. It's pointless to have the Blu-ray player now isnt it if u cant even view it in high def. i agree its a mental thing but the visual part immerses us in that enviroment.Graphics arent everything but thats the biggsest leap most consoles make is in a graphical standpoint now that we have online services set up

its not pointless cuz there are 1080p tv's out there, and there are more and more coming in due time.
and yes if u are getting a console with the highest of high end graphics then you would probably have or get an HDTV.

Like I said anyone who buys an HDTV just for games is far from sane and any psycologist will agree. An HDTV bought for movies, tv games, and other uses is ok, but to sink $3400 dollars in to a TV just for a console that will be out of date in 5 years is moronic. C'mon, it'll be about 3 years and there will be another wave of new consoles and Hdtv's out for grabs. Why sink in to a quick indulgence? Get what you want not because it's cool at the time, but because it will last in the long run. How long before HDTV is out of date? 2, 3 maybe 5 years at most. The whole thing with HD console is just another marketing ploy to get people to buy crap they don't really need. In reality, people over at NASA have used HD technology for the past 15 years! Imagine what is made but not released to the public yet! Example... during WWII, the US and Germany were using Cd's to store government and military data. THAT IS FACT!

Question:
Were the playable demos at E3 running off a finished ps3 box like we've all seen or just big server looking things. Basically my question is, have they finished cramming all the hardware into the box? I thought I read somewhere this was a big problem.

First of all you dont need to spend 3400 for a decent hdtv, you can get one for far less. The thing you dont understand that consoles will make more ppl buy hd tvs whether you think they are moronic or crazy. The thing is hd is starting to develop more and more with more medias, many cable companies now offer many channels in hd and console gaming is another one of those medias. I dont think anyone one who buys an hdtv will think oh im only gonna use this for gaming but rather think "hmm this is a good time to upgrade to a hdtv, with all the new stuff coming out." So just because someone buys a hdtv with a new console doesnt mean they have no life or have psycological problems, it just means they've decided to take the leap and im sure they will enjoy that tv for a long time, even when the next gen of consoles comes out. And of course after a longer period of time the tv wont be that great cause lets face it, new technology is always evolving, so there will always be something better. So stop trying to make everyone who purchases an hdtv with a new console seem like a no life junkie.

it wont be in short supply. they are planning 1 million per each 3 launch areas. they are already finishing protoype testing, and they will start manufacture in early june. that gives them almosty 5 months to produce 3 million units. i think they can handel it. if they cant, they have already told stores not to allow preorders because they dont what the whole fuss ms had being unable to fill orders.

no pre-orders? nUu!!! that means... first come first serve... *goes and sharpens sword* BRING IT XD . but i dont think australia will get that many ps3s being on sale. i may buy it jan next year (when ive saves up money cauz i spend money all the time :( ). SHOULD get ps3 early to find some backdoors, like the chubby ps2 they released :S .
well, the hdtv aspect of things... sales will increase cauz of hardcore gamers just buying it for that. would dvd player sales decrease :S ? ahh welpz.
good marketing tool i just thought for sony... buy their HDTVs, and receive a free ps3 (well, obv the price of the hdtv will be a bit more expensive for the inclusion of the ps3).
EDIT: friend told me that ps3 is guna b 5 kilos heavy (duno in lbs). is that tru? cauz thats guna b one heavy console... when im bored, can prob do reps with that XD
