tessai77 I need more info than u gave, ur router, which model is it? did u set a static ip address and did u change the ports in tornado to the ports u forwarded in the router? I would uncheck the random setting here as well. U then also have to close tornado and reopen it for the changes to take effect.

i recently ordered Bellsouth dsl Lite Service for my cpu. i received the package early this week. i got a black Westell wirespeed 6100 dsl router. can some one help me on how to make a static ip, or does anyone have a good guide on this matter?? Chocfiend? these are my connections for bit torrents settings
Service Details
Service Name *Bit Torrents
Type: Trigger Ports
Port 1
Protocol: TCP
Global Port(s): 6881-6889
Trigger Port: 59336
port 1 is a forwarding port i believe
Port 2
port 2 is the triggering port?? am i correct?
Protocol: TCP/UDP
Global Port(s): 6881-6889
Trigger Port: 6881
After clicking 'close' you can enable your new service from the 'Serivce Name' select box.

Attempting connect to: 65.2.3.95 port 6881
Fail!
Unable to connect. This likely means you need to adjust your port forwarding configuration, or there is no client running on that port.
thats my nat check result.. how do i open edonkey2000 ports?

Hi all, I almost apologise for having to post this but I am still having problems. Anyway i'll start from the bottom up.
I have a Zoom X3 Modem, I managed to set up the port forwarding on this on it's on wiht the IP address. However I also have a US Robotics 8054 Wireless Turbo Router, so I can connect to the other computers. When I attach this and its all up and running I can't get the Forwarding to work.
I configure the Zoom to the new IP address and also set up the US Robotics to the Lan Server with the same IP address shown upnder ipconfig /all but it will then not connect to it.
I have removed all the firewalls etc. Apologies for any inconvenience this post as caused! Many thanks for any help though.

Hiya.
It seems you are quite the guru chocfiend, so with that in mind i request your assistance.
Im an ntl 700 cable user, and im experiencing ridiculously slow download speeds on bit torrent. I connect through a router (Kobian BR100) which has an in built firewall. no software firewall is running and im on win2k so i dont have to contend with the XP firewall.
I have forwarded ports 6881-6999 on both tcp and udp, using 6969 as a trigger port, but this hasnt helped at all.
I tried setting up a static ip but this only results in me losing my connection completely.
my status indicator on bit tornado is always yellow (when downloading that is).
If you, or anyone else have any ideas on how i can improve download speeds id be glad to hear them.
Thanks in advance

porps, from your description I believe you port triggered not port forwarded. Altho they are similar, they are very different as well. Here is the link for the portforward instructions for your router. http://portforward.com/kobian/Mercury-KOB-BR100-portforwarding.htm The static ip issue is trickier, it sounds as tho ur isp does not support a static ip address. Call them and find out. If that is the case we have found a workaround for it, that seems to be working for the ppl I set it up for. Also did u configure the ports in tornado? and then close and reopen the program? IM me chocofiend2001 on AIM

Ok, so, static IP is set, Hub is by-passed, router is port forwarded, firewall is port forwarded (even disabled at times) Azureus is set up - BitTornado is set up... Still no more than 10kbs... I'm about to give up any thoughts anyone??

Ahhh, the problem persists!
Ok, I'll leave it to the following info:
I use Wanadoo's Wireless Internet Connection (though my PC is wired to the router, my sister's laptop is wireless).
And if I use my old modem the download rates are fine, but ever sincethe router its been craptacular!
My previous posts shows what the Port Forward screen looks like. I can't get it to work properly.
So Chocfiend or whomever, please help me find a solution to port forwarding on Wanadoo's Wireless Router.
My last resort will be to phone them, and that is my LAST resort as I know I'll get charged a fortune on the phone to them.

I see that a few people are helping the many. If there's room for one more needy type then..
Using ABC but getting slow d/l speed (from supernova mind), no more then 10-15k. I've a static address now, but when I try to open more ports on my G604T I get 'name cannot begin with a number' message. I'm not using a number in the rule name at all, and I'm entering the appropriate numbers in the start, end and map fields (6881 to start with).
I'm lost.

janvaltin, using suprnoava to obtain ur torrent has nothing to do with your speed. 2nd I recommend using tornado at least until u get all configuration issues resolved, its a much easier to configure and test program. 3rd did u disable or forward ports in ur firewalls? 4th what is the manufacturer of your router and modem?

hi, I don't have a router, I've opened ports 6881-6889 both TCP and UDP, using BitTornado. I'm getting a green light. However, the max dl speed i've seen is 17k, it says connected to 13 peers (total 95k speed). Help!!!

My router/modem is Dlink G604T. I have zonealarm running also, which I've not altered. I've been unable to forward any ports in the router. I keep getting the 'name cannot begin with a number' message each time I try, which is odd since I'm not using a number in the name (which I thought was irrelevant anyway).
I'll check tornado. Thanks

janvaltin i found ur router configuration there are some tricks with it that i think are causing your problem. You will need to find the instructions for ur zone alarm and forward ports there. Also being that u r using zone alarm i recommend turning the xp (if u use xp) firewall off all together. Its pretty useless. Im me and I'll help you with ur router config. chocofiend2001 on aim

gbay do u have a modem? what is the make and model and who is ur provider. Did u disable or forward ports in any firewalls u have? Did u set a static ip address?
I need a little more info on ur setup to help you. Unless ur with aol, configuring ports in tornado is not enough and even with aol its sometimes not enough.

hi, my top download speed is now 32k. modem is motorola surfboard, don't know the exact model no. though. i completely turned off windows firewall. my ip address is always changing. do you think it's worth it trying to configure BitTornado, or should i just switch to another client like Azuerus?

gbay ok if u set a static ip address it will not be constantly changing. I don't believe you can forward ports in the motorola surfboard modem. Bit tornado is much easier to use than Azureus. But with out opening ports in a router or modem i don't know what good it would do to specify any ports in any bt program. By the way, u do not need to configure udp, only tcp.
