Hi dude,

I've got the exact same config (2wire portal) my dsl speed is up to 1.5 but the max download I've got is an average 12-15 kb... sometimes I'm lucky and when nobody around the world is using the net I get to a wonderfull 40 kb.... nice :D

I've open all tcp and udp port on my 2wire from 6881 to 6889 but it's allways the same speed, I've got a netgear router and I've deactivate all the port functions and + my connection in not firewalled so...

I guess you know how but in case of :

go to the 2wire (using ie and the @ like 192.168...)
go to the firewall settings,
choose your machine (in case you've got multiple pc's on it)
and click on add user applications
now tou can add each of the ports you nedd (one by one)
ex : port 6881 to 6881 for the range let the default time out and map to 6881

You've got to do that for each port in TCP and UDP...

I not quite sure it's gonna solve your issue but never know...

-Set up a static IP (only one comp on network)
-Disabled windows firewall
-Changed Bit Tornado settings to open 6881-6889

I am having some trouble. I use g3 Torrent, and I have the ports forwarded in my router and in the XP Firewall I have them allowed. I have Comcast Cable Internet and a Microsoft Wireless Router. My download speeds are still at 1-10 kb/s. This is really getting annoying and I would like to know how to fix this without having to read through the 33 pages of this forum.
thanks in advance,

I'm Back...

I think I do have a very small problem... though it's the same... but I guess I know where it is right now...

I have Win2000 SP1
Billion Router Bipac 743
BitTornado 0.3.7
A good internet speed...

I used to get a verry fast speed but now my light is yellow... I forwarded the ports from 6881 ~ 6889
But IT'S NO USE

I'm sure the problem is the router...
although it's allowing eDonkey and Kazaa ports perfectly... what's wrong with torrent :S

Help the hell outta me ;P
Or iz et help me the hell out???

Back again...

I enabled ALL the ports on my router...
I GOT THE GREEN LIGHT :D

but... the speed is still around 0 ~ 8...
@ least now I have 8KB... better than 5 i guess

though there are 3 seeds and 22 peers
and no peers are uploading from me

were my ports wrong (6881 ~ 6889) or did they change the ports?

I'll disable the ports again since I don't have any firewall installed till I get any reply...
thanx guys

===============
I forgot to say that before I used to get around 20 ~ 30 Kbps...
and peers used to upload around 10 ~ 15 Kbps...
one day all of a sudden... the light changed to yellow and I started to get this low speed...

bit111 what have u done? first step is to set a different static ip address for every computer on the network http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm second step is to either disable or forward ports in ur firewall http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/ports.mspx mind you these instructions are for prior to sp2 if u have service pack 2 google for instructions. third step is to forward the ports on your router http://portforward.com/routers.htm some bt programs need you to designate which ports u r using (6881-6999) if its tornado make sure u uncheck random as well then close the program and then reopen it, run a torrent get the hash and run a nat test http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl make sure on the nat test u r testing port 6881 im me on aim chocofiend2001 if you need more help

Hey everyone, first post here - hope to finally get my Azureus/NAT woes done with. I've been using the newest version Azureus (2.1) and was able to configure everything so that i'd get OK! on NAT test and get a green face while dling/upling. I had listening port set on Azureus set to 49999 and forwarded port 49999 TCP in my router's configuration (linksys wrt4g) - everything worked fine. I searched online for days and finally found a solution...but i dont know where it is to be found now... :(

A month ago someone walked me through encrypting (WEP) my connection and it was all good - still green faces in Azureus (in case this affects anything).

then about a week ago, something messed up with my connection to the wireless so i had to find the wep key and reenter it and after fiddlin around i got back on. In the last couple of days, I've noticed how slow Azureus has been and it is always yellow, no one is even uploading anymore; i tested my port and of course i got a NAT error and found im only getting local clients. B/sides this WinMX which uses ports somewhere around 6000's is not dling anything at all and the searches take forever (unusual).

I realized a bunch of websites that show your ip show that my ip address is 24.18.182.173 when it should really be 192.168.1.1 <--linksys (and so says ipconfig).

so can anyone pleaase help me out? or does anyone have a smiliar problem and know what might have gone wrong? thanks a lot!!

phatspoon, ok the ip address showing when u do a whats my ip is correct its showing u the wan address, ur router changes the wan address and thats the 192..... thats not ur problem. Have u recently downloaded sp2? That has a new firewall in it that u will need to configure. Have you loaded any new anti virus programs that might have a firewall ? What about pop up blockers? Also when was the last time u checked ur computer for spyware? this will also wreak havoc on ur configurations. Run the new version of adware and the new version of spybot, yeah go download the new versions if u already have the old ones. The new ones find a lot more crap.

Hi Choc - or others

So I'm about to buy an ADSL Router to improve my torrent speeds - i've (reluctantly) decided against a wireless cos there's too much hassle as it is without adding to it - unless anyone can recommend a wireless one that gives good / great torrent speeds with low hassle

Can anyone recommend any from the below - i'm looking for one just to download at super rates (upgraded to TSG 1500mb so ready to rock n roll)

Netcomm NB5 (has ADSL2 compatability)
Netcomm NB1300PLUS4
Netcomm NB3 - super cheap
Netcomm NB5580
Netcomm NB3100COMPACT

D-link DSL-504G
Linksys AG041
Netgear DG632AU - super cheap

Or if anyone can suggest another which has good price and good for torrents that would be great - cheers

hi guys

after hours of despair and sorrow while i searched the net for solutions for my bt problem, i've finally succeded to achieve full speed in bt again.

these are the things that i've done to my pc:

1. set an static ip
2. forwarded my ports
3. open the ports in my windows sp2 firewall
4. kicked it repeatedly while cursing windows sp2
5. i patched my tcp port limit from 10 to 100
6. switched from ABC to Bittornado

now depending on the file i get an average speed of 100kb/s and on several estatic and wonderous occasions 200kb/s.

most of the things i've done are documented here in detail and you should do them all before asking a question. one thing wasn't mentioned yet (no, its not the kicking): the patching of your tcp port limit.

the new windows xp sp2 has an build-in limiter of active tcp ports. it allows only 10 ports to be open at the same time. this can limit your speed in bt.

to find out if thats the case go control panel-> administrative tools-> event viewer. search for 4226 events. if you have them while downloading through bt, then you need to patch your system.

you can find the patch by googling: patch 4226 eventid lvllord.

i really love this thread. i don't know what i would have done without the advise i got here. (perhaps kicked some more...)

O.k guys, I had the same problem the most of the people have here. And i have a good friend name chocfiend that tried to help me but with no luck. The problem that i have is, I have DSL with Verizon, He had me called verizon and ask them if the support static IP and Verizon does not support static ip they only do for business accounts. So if nothing is working for you, after tring everything call you ISP and ask them. I'll keep you posted If i find anything else.

dtcobra there are many reasons ur upload might be higher than ur download. Give it time. Speeds don't generally increase until u have downloaded so ur download will be lower for a while, as u upload more the speed will generally increase and then u will start to see a difference. If it doesn't change then u might have something configured incorrectly.
