dtcobra just keep in mind that when u throttle ur speed u r causing other unsuspecting downloaders to wonder why their speed is so slow.lol your upload speed determines their download speeds and so on and so on etc lol. Catch 22 One way to not feel so guilty about it, is when the download completes to leave it up and running unthrottled for other to download from.

bit u did not mention if u set a static ip or not. You must have a static ip. That is step one. Without it its not going to work. I gave u the instructions in my first post to u. I don't use yahoo lol so we are at an impasse.

bit, give it time, ur download is dependent on ur upload and if u just got it working u haven't uploaded enough. Be patient. There are so many variables that cause fluctuations on speed, amount of upload, speed of those you are connected to, throttling, snubbing, number of seeds and peers. Your configuration is only one part.

Hey Chocfiend - I do have the windows service pack 2 but in the wireless properties/firewalladvanced/ general tab shows it off. I also loaded McAfee Security Center a few months ago but that did not install the additional firewall software. As of spyware, SpyBot returns IE plugin and DSO exploit which i "fixed". Adaware just found 27 files which i just quarantined. I know i have one type of spyware...pop ups like xadsq and xlime... that i dont know how to get rid of but neither adaware nor spybot can find it.

ok phatspoon You have to go thru the steps one by one to try and find ur problem. one set a static ip address for EVERY computer hooked to the router http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm two which i think u've done is to disable ur firewall, three is to forward the ports in the router to the static ip u set http://portforward.com/routers.htm also try bit tornado instead of Azureus, just make sure u change the ports in prefs to what u opened in the router then close the program and reopen it so ur changes take effect. try opening ports 6881-6999 instead of what u r using. Also because u have sp2 get the patch that pool mentioned a few posts back. im me on aim and i'll troubleshoot u chocofiend2001

Ok heres the thing, I read the first 4 pages and it was taking me ages and nothing i seen solved my problem. Basically i use G3Torrent but get slow download speeds however i cannot do as described as I have 1mb AOL ADSL and when i go into my network connection there is nothin under high speed internet for my internet connection. However my adsl modem comes up under normal dial up but when i go to change the settings it just brings up a thing asking for my area code other rubbish. Has neone tried to do this with aol as there ISP. I am not connected to a network or nething so i have no router, the modem is connected directly to my computers USB port. I use Zone Alarm firewall and have the windows xp professional one disabled. Can anyone help me out and tell me how to open up these ports so i can get the high speed downloads i should be gettin. Thanks for ne help you guys can give me. P.s. i expect a few ppl will probably slag me off for having AOL it seems not alot of ppl like them however i dont get ne probs with them thats why im still with them.

Everyone u definitely want to check out the patch mentioned by pool here's a link http://www.lvllord.de/?lang=en&url=downloads when it gives u the scary message about changing ur settings, say cancel this will allow u to have 50 open ports instead of 10 with sp2. You still have to manually forward those ports tho, this patch does not do that.

Hello friends, i recently ordered Bellsouth dsl Lite Service for my cpu. i received the package early this week. i got a black Westell dsl router. i only download thru BitTornado, and edonkey2000, im very dissapointed because i cant get speeds faster tha 10kbps, ive done the speed test on the bellsouth website and it clocks me at DL:245kbps UL:125kbps.. so i think im suppose to be downloading faster than what im downloading on edonkey and BitTornado. dont know nothing on how to port forward and all of that, can someone please help? someone that has a black westell and bellsouth dsl lite please help me out, im at msnmessenger jdilla@msn.com

Jdilla here is the instructions for ur modem. You do not have a router. http://www.westell.com/content/sales/liteline.pdf However this model does support portforwarding and static ip's, both of which u need. Step one set a static ip for all computers on your network. Step two either forward ports in ur firewall or diasable it. This includes the windows xp firewall and any others u might be using such as zone alarm Step three Use the link I have provided for the instructions on forwarding ports for ur modem. The common range is 6881-6999 however some ppl are finding those ports are being throttled by their isp's. If this is ur case then forward ports 16881-16999. Make sure whatever bit torrent program u r using also has the same ports u are forwarding configured. Last is to run a nat check (http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl) If u have problems im me on aim chocofiend2001
