I did do the portforwarding though... I saw the instruction on one forum of BitTornado
it still doesnot work...
I'm using ABC (yet another bittorrent client or whatever it is)
my DL speed is not as bad as some guys' here... around 10KB/s but just looking at the UL speed pisses me off

can you guys please help me i did exactly as the what the first guy said and i still dont see anything changing. Im using the newest version of azureus 2.2 i think it is. i dont know if this is just me, but i had to wait like 10-20 minutes to reach my peak download speed, and the smily face that tells your status, is yellow. and when i disconnect my router, it is green. i get around 90-130kb/s without router down, and 20ishkb/s up. i have 94 seeds currently and i am downloading 70-130 kb/s (its just jumping around a bunch) with my router connected. i was just wondering, why does it take a lot longer to get my speed up from 0kb/s to my peak, compared to when i dont have my router connected.

Thanks Justin

I'm glad this thread is still going on, b/c I just got a problem with my router recently.

I don't know if it's already mentioned here, but I didn't wanted to read all the 37 pages, but does anyone know a router called edimax? I followed all instructions on the first page, but my dl on bittorrent remain slow.

Here's a pic of the port forwarding page.

I clicked the add button, but the d/l rate still won't increase, or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks in advance.

mekanos u need to do more than forward ports in ur router First u have to set a static ip and enable netbios over tcp then u have to disable or forward ports in ur firewall if ur running xp and any other firewalls u have have such as zone alarm or pc cillin norton etc. Then u forward ur ports in the router. You also need to configure ur bt program for the ports u forwarded. IM me on aim for help, I'll walk u thru it chocofiend2001

Hey I'm trying to open up my ports but I can't seem to get it to work. I have a LINKSYS BEFN2PS4. When I'm opening my ports and it asks for my I.P. address do I use the I.P address from the router? My LINKSYS is 192.168.1.1. So would I use that in the I.P. slot? I went to www.grc.com and it says 6881-6889 ports are in stealth mode.

diesel step 1 is to set a static ip address http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm step 2 is to open ports in or diasable the xp firewall http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/protect/ports.mspx ( you will also need to do this for any other firewall u might be running like zone alarm) step 3 is to forward ur ports ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pdf/befn2ps4ug.pdf page 31 step 4 is to set the port range in ur bit torrent program step 5 is to run a nat test on a torrent to make sure everything is working http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl

Thx chocfiend. I went to www.grc.com and it says 6881-6883 port is opened but 6884-6889 isn't. Do you know what's going on?

hey
ive got a netcomm nb1300 router, and i've done the portforwarding thing for ports 6881-6889, and turned off my windows firewall to get my bit tornado to go faster. Problem is that its still downloading at 2kb/s. All my other downloads go at about 30kb/s on my broadband connection. Any ideas on what im doing wrong and what i can do?? thanx

Hi guys,

I've read this thread up and down, yet I'm still having problems.

I have a linksys wireless router WRT54GS and I Linksys Modem ADSLME3

I've tried probably every combination of setting up forwarding and uPnP and everything under the sun.

I can't figure this out, and it is truly frustrating.

The uPnP says that everything is configured, (no problems with the ports) yes when I test it out using Azureus (configuration wizard) it says unable to test!

I am on wireless on my laptop. I had it working perfectly before when I had cable, getting 80 + KB/s!

Now with ADSL I'm getting constant yellow face and i'm lucky if i stay at 20 kb/s

please help!

Hello everyone!
I just red through the whole 37 pages and still i haven't found a solution.

I have a 702/128 ADSL with a Thompson Speedtouch 510i modem.
I have turned off the XP SP2 firewall.
I've downloaded the patch from http://www.lvllord.de and set it to 50.
I have got myself a static IP.
Forwarded ports 6881-6899 from my router to my static IP.
Tested them with http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl and http://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?rh1dkyd2 and they all pass.

But my downloads is max at 20 kb/s. I've tried almost every BT client. I've also tried changing the UL rate from 5-25 kb/s and unlimited.

My ISP doesn't block any ports as i tried other ports too.
A very strange thing is that if I download something thats say 1-400MB or so I get top speed but over 1GB (I'm not excactly sure about size here) my speed drops to under 20 or more often under 10 kb/s.
WinMx runs at top speed.. but i want BT to work.

One last thing. I have a "splitter" wich is supposed to share my line with the computer and a phone. Since I don't have a phone I don't use this. If that has something to do with it.

Now, i dont have a wireless router. but is there anyway i can still "open my ports" or "forward my ports" to increase my download speed. I keep failing the test, it tells me that it connects but has a problem finding the file or somehting. i use the basic standard comcast cable modem and my speeds are always around 5 kb/s its killing me. I've read up until pg 20 of this thread and skimming the rest trying to find anybody whose in the same boat. i believe i done everything correct but my efforts are becoming very ill favored. Other people who say their d/l speed reaches over 100 kb/s just doesnt seem possible for me.... ops - winxp, and my firewall is down...help is needed.

Jkr.

Sup all, I have a quick question. I am getting good dl now but I keep on getting these hash failed things. I am dling a file that is 700mb and I have gotten so manny errors that by the time I was done dling it I had dled a total of 4853MB. Is there a reason for this? I mean if I didn't get so many errors then I would have dled the file a lot faster. Thanks for any help

Hi

Well im glad to see im not the only one that has a problem with my downloads for Bit torrent not working. well my settings are basically

-D-Link DWL-122 USB 802.11b Wireless Adapter
-Windows XP Professional (Without SP2)
-Router (Lynksys 802.11g)
-BitTorrent T-0.3.8 (Bit Tornado)

The problem is that i dont know where to go to find out my port ranges for Bittorrent. Because thats the reason my downloads wont work, and i havent done this before with this new wireless adapter. So my question really is that where would i go to find out my port ranges for my new adapter for bit torrent? is there a special website that lists it. This would be great if someone who knows posts ASAP, Thank You for reading this, Cheers.

Ok, Well from what I have seen is that no one helps in this forum. Or they have just been busy. But I have never gotten the answers to my questions so who knows. But I am going to try to help you as best as I can. http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm that is a link that I think can help you figure out how to forward your ports. I think you need 6881-6999 Some places say 6881-6889 and you can try that and if it works, Great! or try going up to 6999. If you are getting a green status light then it's probably not your ports. And also win xp has a firewall and if that is on it can hinder you as well from getting good speeds. So either turn it off or forward the ports on that. which is more trouble than I would want to I just have it turned off on my comp. I hope that helps. Let me know how it g oes :) ~STRIDER~

Hey CamDog, I have a similar setup to you (DWL-510 wireless connection) and I'm a network with some friends. I don't have any extra firewalls aside from winXP and the router. I've tried testing speeds with the firewalls disables entirely, and no difference.

I've set a fixed IP for myself, I've forwarded ports 6881-6999, and I've forwarded the ports in the windows XP firewall. Pretty much to the letter, but still getting NAT error. I tried the test at http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl and it keeps failing. Did I miss something?

Thanks

Hi All

Possibly the wrong thread to ask this is as not router related

RE: BitComet

I've got no router (postponed purchase)and TPG 1500mbps

BitComet works consistently fast - typically somewhere between 60kb/s to 160kb/s on individual downloads with no fancy setup - total downloads don't really exceed 160kb/s

BUT it keeps crashing - like every 20 mins or so - bugger

I've got 256mb Kingston + new 512mb Lamelle (cheap RAM)

I've seen that other people find Bitcomet to crash but no solution / explanation anywhere

Anyone got any ideas?

Azeurus no longer wants to work with me and i'd like to pursue with Bitcomet cos at the end of the day it works alot better than other torrent clients for those with no routers, seemingly

Or could i expect even faster downloads with 1500mbps TPG with another configuration??
