yeah aiming solely at younger people is really not smart at all, and like its been said before, the only people buying the Wii are fans of nintendo.
about the media player thing... of course its not needed but its an extra feature that makes the console more appealling, i mean its to get more sales ultimately.
to the people who keep saying NINTENDO SUCKS, well if it did why is it soooooo big?? i dont get it. i mean im a SONY fan from the beginning and before that i was a SEGA one and both of them had nintendo for rivals, but im still not hostile towards nintendo for no reason. i mean ive seen the ads in the UK where u see some 15 year old playing Twilight Princess and it just seemed too babyish for me. im 15 and i wanna play something like Gears of War or Assassins Creed (which are NOT on the Wii) so thats why i aint getting a wii : its a good console but i doubt ill find games that suit me. that doesnt include things like table tennis, and racing on a cow!

personaly i don't think nintendo's wii sucks (infact i was planing to get one) but i don't think its in the race for the ultimate next-generation console. i started on nintendo before i went to sonys consoles(ps) and i would have luved to be able to get back to it but i have becomed too much of a sony fan and nintendo isn't impressing me(they don't want me back,am too old). at my age (16) its seems its only sony and microsoft who r wanting me. nintendo seems to be aiming at 7-12 year olds and thats kinda game doesn't intrest me, i think this is a big mistake and nintendo is gonna lose big cuz of it.

@jan I have a w800 with a 2gig memory stick and i rip movies and watch them on it so yeah i expect my $300 phone to play music, movies, have internet and email ect.
So far the technologies of this century have all been about convergence trust me people want devices to do all they can.
Nintendo has limited themselves in too many ways when they go for younger audiences and they don't even admit it the say the wii is targeting everyone. That translates into them then, limiting the capabilities of the console.
I hate criticizing what i consider to be the greatest hardware/software video game company ever but it must done.

Nintendo are not trying to beat out MS or Sony.Lets not forget nintendo has already been where MS & Sony are at they just doing it to make a profit and sell to a targeted age group.I'm a Sony supporter but i have no problem with nintendo, but i do think the Wii is a little over priced to be a kid console. Not to many parent like me going to drop that much on a Wii my son is 11.If im going to paid that much i rather get him a 360 core and i would feel like i would get my money worth.

I am not reading 30pages.....least not yet *L*
anyway and news on a 360 price drop what abotu the enw revision thats comign in feb any news on it?
Nintendo makes a game console they are not overly interested in getting into the quagmire the 360 and the PS3 are in the 360 is completely lost with its 20GB HD and 3-6GB movie downloads static one at a time download setup when people are paying for bandwidth,Sony has manged to almsot sell bells and whistles of the PS3 as "extras" I cringe at the new buy able game content once pubs get wind of money from add ons they will soon be selling games by the piece...at least sony was bright enough not to screw up the HD but still the pricing scheme leaves me cold.....nintendo is not missing a beat taking the slow approach I with they would have tooken play control one step futher and let people customize their control setup and use the GC v.2 pad if they so wished all in a true attempt to revolutionize play control by givieng players more choice, more and more devs are making games with static configureless setups and only great devs like retro could make the a fps fun and palyable while bungie created the most assinieingly stale and painful cookie cutter design...believe it or not 13/XII a very underrated fps on the GC has no config options at all and for a fps thats sad.....

so i got componant cables. its a nice picture. im yet to play all my games to their fullest with it, because the HDTV at my dads is only 480p and 1080i (its a crt). but today i'll run linux and play some resistance.
i also now have all the launch titles i wanted. RR7, R:FoM, and THP8 (got it for my birthday).
(oh, forgot to metion monday was my bday, but i was so busy i never could get on.)
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

i think the main reason for there being several ps3 here and there are because all the people who got one to scalp cant sell it with the freaks who wanted them for high prices have gobbles up the ones they want and the people now arnt willing to pay more than stock price.

it makes since I still think the PS3 is badly designed they could have sold extras as add ons and brought the over all price down by 100 and sale the add ons for 50ish a pop hell make HDMI a add on and sale it for 100,I see no innovation in price, "ability" or games to warrant the purchase of a PS3 at this time.

I'd rather have them all in the box, and pay extra than buy them separately for inflated prices. Nobody wants to buy another multi-tap or a network adapter.

so instead of a 300$ console and 4 50$ upgrades you will take the 700$ console with a bucket of fires?.........

yes, or did you like buying 5 memory cards, a network adapter, etc. Sorry, I'd take a 50 dollar all in one controller over a 20 dollar nunchuk and a 40 dollar remote, plus a 20 dollar VC console controller anyday.

Oh please accessory's will always be 30-40 a pop on new systems the price difference in the console is almsot negligible in the long run but in the short run you can have the console and the game now,and in the end that is all that matters. the PS3 and 360 would have done alot better for themselfs if they focused on price a bit more the multi card reader is not needed they could have made it extra and shaved 50$ off the price wifi could be another 50$ hell they could have done that with the USB ports and shaved 150 off the PS3 price making it 350-450 go the extra mile to make the system more affordable and then sale complete units for 600-800,after all once you hit 500 800 is nothing.
there are different ways to play the price game MS and sony are still ding it the old fashion way the only reason I don't add nintendo with them is their system is under 300 and manages to revolutionize game control at the same time while MS and sony are kissing up to the media industry and forgetting what consoles are..

It all just depends i know i cant get 600us for a ps3 right now so i got a wii and am enjoying it and there is absopuletly nothign wrong with it.
Iam not biased as i plan to buy a ps3 in the next year and in the 6th gen ove owned
2x PS2
1x gamecube
1xGB advance
7the Gen
Wii
PSP
DS
PS3 soon to be added
PS3-Media
Wii-Revoultionary Gameplay
360-Absolutely nothing new for 400 you get wired controlers Microsoft havent been in consoleing long enough to know that people dont just want huge power bricks and taht freakin first xbox controler whihc a 6 year old cant grip people want something compact PS3 is big yeah but it has a built in PSU and iots controlers are one of the eaisest constrolers to grip on and i thank them for discarding the boomerang design Microsoft should have atleast given a Wireless controlers in the core package if not their overpriced HDD there like 129.95 au for 20gb seperately
im with Big N and Sony all the way in the 7th Gen

dazila
you can get 360 20GB HD kits for as little as 70$ still a core package is 250 at the min,all in all I see the 360 as a more "stable" option for 300-400 than the overpriced PS3 for 500-600 and the only difference in them is HD,wifi and multi card reader,if I was going to put a HD into it it would probably be a 200GB wifi you can get for under 50 and who gives a rip about the card reader.
Sony could have done alot better at least MS's "upgrades" are a option meek as hell but a option non the less, altho I am biting my toung the PS3 has not had a solid year to mature but even still I don't see them doing anything more than the status quo I dont see MS doing much but fixing what they got and that leaves nintendo I see them slowly ignoring polish and detail in gaming however unlike the rest of gamedom the corruption takes 4 times as long to effect nintendo mario sun shine is a good benchmark as nintendos sow desegregation the non optional jump zones that destroy the flow of the game re a sign of weak game design....
Metroid 3 and Mario Uni will set the pace for nintendo for the next 10ish years or at the least 5 if nintendo gives a crap about gaming these 2 will be shining examples of modern video games and not ones of corperate effortless game design...

i just wanna say that the 360 shouldnt be compared to PS3 just yet because what people are saying is that 360 is a lot better and but people don't realize that 360 was out in the market a year ago so i say compare 360 games of today and compare them to PS3 game a year later from now and then make a statement.
