Hello, I need help with bittorrent. I am using abc and bit tornado. I read many many forum and they all say open port 6881 to 6889 and have a static ip address. But I have a dymanic IP and a cable moden. I get really crappy speeds. I opend the 6881 - 6889 ports in my routers doesn't help. it seems like it is even slower. I don't know if the cable modem unit have a firewall. my setup is from the cable modem unit to router 1 thru that to router 2. I need help on solving this problem Thank You.

Hi. My Bittorrent download speeds are around 1-5kb/s and I've no idea why. I've made exceptions to the firewall on Windows XP for the ports 6881-6883 but my Nat check still failed. I am unable to find any information on my router Accton AC-IG1004. Can anyone help?

Hi guys.. i was looking for help with my bit torrent speed, and i guess u will be able to help me.. i tried to configure my dlink router to open the port range 6881-6889 but wasn't sure what to do..
in my router's configuration i have to fill all these info:
Name - This is the name referencing the special application.
Trigger Port - This is the port used to trigger the application. It can be either a single port or a range of ports.
Trigger Type - This is the protocol used to trigger the special application.
Public Port - This is the port number on the WAN side that will be used to access the application. You may define a single port or a range of ports. You can use a comma to add multiple ports or port ranges.
Public Type - This is the protocol used for the special application.
so im not sure what to enter as trigger port and public port.. can someone help plzz?

is there any other things which mite affect BT downloads other than the stuff mentioned here? (i.e. port forwarding, firewall settings, BT settings)
i use Azureus and the problem i tend to get is that even if the status shows green, i have remote connection and tracker's fine, i stilll get DL speeds way lower than my maximum (256k ADSL) and worse yet it jumps between 0 and about half speed...its really random and i have no idea whats going on. I have a Billion Bipac 5100 router and i've configured NAT (SUA) correctly and all i think, opening ports 6881-6889, but that didn't work so i've since switched it to just let all ports thru. also, i have zone alarm pro running on my comp but i've configured that to let ports through. i can download FTP, HTTP, EMule, K-Lite all that fine but just BT has...shocking speeds. And the NAT test on btfaq.com keeps failing

ok, i might have a solution for you guys. THe reason your speeds are slow generally is because your firewall, either software or a router wall. Instead of trying to open ports and all that stuff you may simply try to disable all of your firewalls.
additionally all of that stuff about ports 6881 to 6889 will not work for most people. this reason is because many people have torrent programs which use different ports.
for example: i use bittornado. bittornado has a range of 50,000 ports. from 10,000 to 60,000.

thanks for the tips, however i have tried completely turning off my firewall (damn hard in the case of zone alarm...which is a good thing) as well as disabling NAT. sadly neither really did anything. finally, i use Azureus which i have configured to port 6881, which is also incidentally enough the default port for BT

I dont know if this will help but heres what i did. I purchased a linksys wireless router. Just as in the beginning of this thread i forwarded the ports, but i picked a set of 100 random numbers ie ports:50500-50600 is what i used. I did this because i heard ports 6881-6889 are sometimes blocked or capped so i used some random unused ports. I then configured my firewall(mcaffe) to the exact same ports and left it intact and enabled. I downloaded BitTornado from this site and set it up through my firewall to allow it to act as a server.
As I said earlier, i downloaded bittornad as my d/l client. I changed the ports in that also to the ones previously mentioned. So in all, I changed my ports 3 times (bitorrent client, firewall, router) to a random set of numbers.
BY DOING THIS MY STATUS CHANGED FROM YELLOW TO GREEN EVERY TIME, AND MY D/L WENT FROM 1KB TO A HIGH OF 150KB SO FAR AND AN AVERAGE OF 50KB ON MY CABLE INTERNET.

hmm...some ideas worth trying there...i mite try to switch to random ports.
although...50kb isn't all that amazing on cable, and i'm wondering if BitTornado is simply a better client, mite try and switch to that as well...incidentally, anyone else who uses Azureus and has zonealarm pro, is the process that Azureus uses called javaw.exe on urs?

Well I guess I'm next up to bat. I'm running XP with a D-Link 704 and I configured ports according to www.portforward.com. The NatCheck is returning as Failed. I'm using Azureus and I tried ABC before this. My results are averaging 10kB/s Down and at times it will make a jump to 50kB/s or more. My up is better avaraged better than than my little 10kB/s. I tried a lot of shit just like everyone. I hope someone with a little mroe intel can help us needy folk out.

lol...lot of us 'help needed' types here...yeah i've since switched over to using BitTornado and it works better for me, i'm getting a stable 20KB/s if i'm lucky and 15KB/s if i'm ok or at a minimum 5KB/s if i'm particularly unlucky. main thing tho is that its stable which is better than azureus

ok , I am a newbie to this sort of stuff. I want to configure my modem (port forwarding) to increase the download speeds for downloading bittorrents. The probelms are, I have been the port forwarding site and details about how to configure my modem type are not listed on the site. My modem type is speedtouch 330 and my internet servive provider is BT Yahoo broadband.
And my current download rate maxes out at 25 k using torrent storm, I have tried using the much publicised bitcomet but I found it to be very slow and loborious. Can anyone help me to improve my download rate as I will be waiting forever to download a whole season of buffy.

Ok, I'm using A-Link Roadrunner 44b adsl router. I can get to the settings page, but I can't find anything about port forwarding. There is something about virtual server, but I looked in to it and I don't think that is what I'm looking for.
So does anyone know how to do this port forwarding thing on my router?
About the speed's. I sometimes get the download speed to 200 kb/s but most of the time it's below 50 kb/s, I have 2 meg adsl.

Public port = bittorent= 6881
Private Port = 6881
Tick TCP
and the host Ip address is the ip address of your computer. to find this out go to start>programs>accessories>command prompt and type in 'ipconfig' and your ip address will come up.
Hope this helps!

Please can someone help me!!!!!
I have been using Bitcomet for the past week or so as i was impressed by wht i had read.
However i have not yet manage to get anywhere near the dl speeds people have claimed to have had recently. I was wondering if it may have anything to do with my log status....?
I have even installed the XP service pack 2 patch that everyone has been banging on about!!
BitComet 0.56 is running on:
CPU : AMD Duron(tm) processor 1102 MHz
RAM size : 247.48 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Default tracker optimization rules file loaded.
IP rules file: ipfilter.dat loaded, 0 entries.
Start Listening at TCP Port:6881
Start Listening at UDP Port:6881
Windows XP ICF Status: Firewall port is opened.
Update Local IP: 82.43.xxx.xxx
Windows XP ICS Status: cannot find working ICS.
Windows XP UPnP Status: device not found!
Please could someone possibly tell what i am doing wrong???
Cheers

Okay, I finally got a green light and I just registered to tell you guys how:
Alright, I have a Linksys blah blah blah wireless router. I have one client computer (mine) and one host computer being used as a gateway on my network. So, my internal ip address is something like 192.168.1.x, while my internet ip address is something like 192.168.0.x. Now, when you're port forwarding through your router's firewall, you want to use your internal ip address (192.168.1.x). But, the host computer had the Windows XP SP2 firewall on it, so when I wanted to port forward through that firewall, I instead used my internet ip address, found somewhere in your router's settings (firmware).
So, using the right ip address at the right time seems to have been the problem for me. Hopefully, it works for you guys, as well.

I know that you may all get sick of ppl asking for your help but I have asked on several different threads without a reply, so here we go again. I am using bitcomet but my download speed maxes out at 25k on a good day. I have a 1 MB connection on a lone terminal, this meaning I have no router or home network to establish a router on. I have tried to port forward but without a router I am not sure how to o it, secondly I have tried accessing my port configuration through some online help manual and it said that this page could not be displayed when I entered my ip address, and I also tried this with all of the other addresses with the same result each time.
Can someone please help me as I am getting very aggitated at pple talking about these excessive download rates and I am stuck with 25 kps.
I have a speedtouch 330 modem, my service provider is BT Yahoo broadband. if anyone cane help me plz post here!!!!!!
