I did many playstations, and the Wii was tough for me, so I definitely wouldn't recommend it if you've never soldered in your life.
Hear, hear. I know when i got mine done the installer guaranteed a successful mod install i.e. if he stuffed my wii he replaced it. You dont get that when you DIY well you do but it will cost ya :)

No. A downloaded iso is just a game ripped using RawDump. You need a modchip installed if you want to do more than look at the disc :)

Any Help? I have a desktop and a notebook, both have a DVD-burner, one is NEC DVD_RW ND-3540A and the other is MATSHITA ram.cfm" class="forum_link" target="_blank">DVD-RAM UJ-850S. I have tried using Nero 7 ultra and ImgBurn at 2 or 4x to burn but none of them will work with my Japanese WII witha WIIKey. I have a friend and he has burned me a couple of games and they work fine. Is there somehting I need to do differently, or some thing that can fix the problem? Thanks to anyone for suggestions.

Also I know the images will work on the console.

Hi All,
I asked this question a few threads back, but I guess nobody saw it.
What is the best Mod chip to get right now?
I heard WiiKey is no longer supporting thiers, is this true?
Is the WiiD any good?
Also, what is the deal with the cut leads on the chip in the console?
Is this true? Is there a way I can check mine by serial number rather than opening it up to see if it has the cut leads?
If so, is there another way around installing the mod chip without using a dremal on the chip?

Hi All,
I asked this question a few threads back, but I guess nobody saw it.

Xecutor seems to be the way to go now, they are still working on theirs. I have the wiikey, though, and am personally very happy.

I heard WiiKey is no longer supporting thiers, is this true?
Last I heard, they were going to put out one update and then no longer work on it.

Is the WiiD any good?
Couldn't comment, never used it

Also, what is the deal with the cut leads on the chip in the console?
They cut the leads so the modchips couldn't connect to where they need to connect. Word on the street is that they completely re-wired the dvd board to further muck things up, but not sure about the ETA on these.

Is this true? Is there a way I can check mine by serial number rather than opening it up to see if it has the cut leads?
Yes, look for serial number # 51545 or higher = new wii(legs cut) and 51525 or lower = old wii(legs intact)

If so, is there another way around installing the mod chip without using a dremal on the chip?

Thanks for the reply!
My Wii did fall in that range of serials with the cut leads, so i went ahead and opened it up anyways.
Sure enough... There are three leads cut on my chip.
I was just going to proceed with a steady hand and my trusty dremal until I read your last comment about the DVD board being possibly rewired.
Is this true? How can I find out if the mod chip will work on my system?
Also I tried to do a search for Xecutor on google, but could not find a mod chip for the Wii by them, only for Xbox.
Do you have a web site for that modchip?
Also, can anyone comment on the DVD board being rewired? Has anyone had success in modding the latest Wii?
I just bought mine this last Saturday 9/17/07 The last digits of the serial are: 92511

You're alright on the rewire thing, if your legs are cut, then it's not the newest. The legs are back on that one. Dremel on if you trust yourself!

As for the Xecutor, I'm not sure if it's out yet for the Wii. I heard people talking about it earlier, and they were saying it's going to be the best yet. I can't vouch for that, just what I heard.

Hey everyone,
So I have all the equipment and the software installed. I put my game into the LG Drive and went to the rawdump 2.0 just like the tutorial said. Then it said that the drive maybe faulty. 1. I just got it in the mail today. 2. I put in a computer game and the computer read it fine. Any suggestions as to how to make this work?

To be honest I don't know how to switch into pio mode. I'm a newbie but I have gotten pretty far. Sometimes it will start and say detecting wii disc and then it says finding seeds but then it will stop and say you might have a faulty drive or something like that. I appriciate the patience everyone who has helped me out has had. So thanks everyone

No, you just need to buy a LG GDR model drive like in the first post. Currently there aren't any laptop ones, so you'll have to buy a desktop one and get an external enclosure (5.25 perferrably, but 3.5 will work, you can't use the cover though) A friend only has a laptop and uses this setup, and it works great.

Thanks a lot for the reply. Maybe you will be able to answer another questions...if I just download the games on torrent, will i need a special LG drive, or will any drive be able to burn the games to play?

Go into Device manager and bring up the properties of your IDE Controllers and dependent on which your LG drive is connected to (and whether it is slave or secondary master/slave) change the corresponding transfer mode to PIO that should fix your problem

Yes, you are fine. I've done a few Wii mods, and all of them did that when I put in a backup. I think as long as it's a USA game (people were having troubles with Super Striker Mario before, but it sounded like a non-USA game) you will be fine. Actually, I did one on Tuesday, and Big Brain Academy was the one I tried first, no problems after the update.

I downloaded the game, its a usa game, and it says so in the regionfrii program, but howcome... when i try to burn it and play it, it feels like its a pal game, because it shows up on the channel screen it even updates the wii, but when i play it it just doesnt load, and goes to the black screen...

WOW, ive been monitoring this thread for a long long time now and there are tons of questions thats been answered over and over, the reason why im checking this out is because i want to find out how to back up the wii games, on the very fist post on this thread it just says so clearly how it works. Thanks!

anyways, i have 2 laptops, a Lenovo 3000 V100 ultraportable and a Sony VGN-A690 17'.
I was searching through the threads if somebody will ask if this will work on external DVD drives, yes as long as its the stated LG drives on the FIRST POST, again i am annoyed as well about people asking if there are any other drives that will work other than LG, again NO, only LG drives thats stated on the FIRST POST. where can you find this?

http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA50090

mwave.com, this is where i ordered mine and added the 5.25"USB2.0&Firewire Box Black $28.00, so its a total of $64.00 getting it shipped here on Guam.

anyways, the instructions stated is what i did and i have dumped almost all of the games thats out for the wii. surprisingly i am using the USB 2.0 not the firewire and the performance is 3 hours per game to dump, i didnt try the firewire but i believe it performs the same as the USB 2.0, will this work on desktops, absofreakinlutely it will work as i tried this on my friends desktop.

what do i use to burn the ISO to DVD-R? any DVD burner will work, and what program do i use? Nero 7, whats the speed? everybody says its 4X, ummm no, i use 8X, i have compared 1 using 4x and 1 using 8X and it just the same, how do i know? because i flipped the RED Steel game with the 4x and the 8x. thats BS? no, i use RITEK RIDATA Pro, check it below. it really depends on your media, not the burning speed.

check out the pics below, to see is to believe.
some of these i havent printed the image for it so the surface is white. what DVD-R im using, i only use the best, its the RITEK RIDATA DVD-R PRO printable hub with no stacking ring.
Where did i get it? of course mwave.com the best service.
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewproduct.a...dia+%2D+DVD%2DR

Pictures are here: http://bayimg.com/album/AAabpaAaB

before i use this DVD drive, i have to flash it first so it will be region free.

did i buy all these games and dump it? No, i have sources, i have a friend that works at Gamestop so any game thats new in stock, he lets me borrow it and take it home and dump it, return it the next day. its good to have connections. TKG of friends of friends games.

anyways guys, follow instructions please, this is the most simplest tutorial i can see and really, its not that complicated. thanks guys! PLAY HARD!

by the way, make sure those original games are clean and no scratches on it before dumping.

Yes, any DVD writer will be able to burn the games, the LG drive is only necessary if you want to rip your own.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean that people aren't after you... :)

No, you are just reading it, exactly like the wii reads the game to play it.

It was posted before in this thread, but you can't rip a burned game, you can only rip an original wii game.
