Thanks Rafadawn for all the help! I went out and got some different discs as well and will try those later today, but will try all your advice. So far, I had already tried to burn all the discs @ 2x, 2.4x and 4x. So maybe I'll try 8x if these new discs don't work! Probably just my sheer luck that I received a bad WiiKey, lol! Again, thanks for all the support!

Since this is the best site there is with upto date info i feel this is the best place to get infomation regarding wiikey and anything to do with nintendos very cunning updates, which leave mewondering if my wii will work if i put another backup game in. here is all i want to know for today. i recently started the 3.2 update. about half way through i found a post which said that the 3.2 update would make my backup games unplayable. at this point i turned it off. now the system says it is at 3.2e and backup games work. I then wanted to try and add my own picture as the photo channel (photo channel 1.1). so i downloaded it from the shop channel. when i tried to open it there was a message which said that for the photo shop to work i would have to perform a wii system update. Is this a different update to the 3.2e. If i do this update will this render my backups useless. Is it true that the 3.2e update will stop my wiikey from working? thanks

Well...just an update...I tried the Memorex discs also, did Padded, Not Padded, Hacked and GCOS, and Wii doesn't recognize any of them either. So looks like a faulty chip. I got my chip from Foundmy.com, and it seems that their "contact us" page is empty. Any one have any contact info, email or phone, for foundmy? Thanks!

Just a note for those that semi-bricked their US Wii by using the firmware update that was applied by Donkey Kong Jet Race (Japan Version).
The firmware update that comes with Super Smash Brothers Brawl (US) does NOT fix it. So we'll have to patiently await the next game that has a firmware update and try that.

You're saying that non-padded iso files at 40mb might work?! I'm gonna try that out. Also, when I try to make a GCOS disk from files that I've filechopped, after I d/l the application and extract it, when I try to open WiiUI I get an error box that says:
Component 'Comdlg32.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid
Any idea?

1) You could have a Wiikey clone that does not accept the 1.9g update.
2) There could be a soldering problem with you chip
3) Try using all sorts of different Wiikey update files (possibly from different source on the Web .. not just this thread). Also use them is different configurations: regular, GCOS, padded, not-padded, etc..
Strangely enough, it seems that different Wii's prefer different files or burning methods [IMHO, it has to do with the drive's optics]
I understand that solution #3 requires using several blank DVDs and may lead nowhere, but what is the alternative?!?!

You might need to install the .NET framework.

I'm not sure it is 100% up-to-date:
"Contact Info: Foundmy.com
ATTN: Terry
15808-109 St.
Edmonton,Alberta, T5X4R9, Canada

or try this:

or, unfortunately, try this:

Ive read through this thread, can't seem to find a answer.
I installed a wiikey a few months ago and works fine. Because i wanted to play retail version of SSBB i put a switch in. Well I have the switch turned off and I updated everything and can play SSBB.
My question is when i turn the switch back on and try to play backups will they still work? My logic is the updates are still on the wii and they would recognize the chip and brick it. Has anyone tested the switch after installing updates?

Everyone I have talked to that have installed the WiiKey after installing all the lastest updates (including the one for SSBB) have had no issues whatsoever with the WiiKey. SO I do not believe that you should encounter any adverse affects using the switch.

I had semi-bricked my wii using SMG E or J on my U system.
I loaded SSBB U yesterday and got an update from it. Now my Wii is un-bricked.
It appears that SSBB must have an update on it higher than 3.1 since it fixed my semi-brick problem.
Just though i'd pass that along.

Randy, I am in the EXACT same position you are in! I bought my wiikey from foundmy.com about two weeks ago. Since then, I have tried all the disks, 4 different kinds of media, 2x, 4x, 8x NOTHING WORKED! I do micro soldering for FUN and I checked, rechecked and eventually resoldered (just to prove to myself that it wasn't an instal issue) the damn thing! All the connections are resistance-free and any pads that are close have been tested for shorts adn none exist. As I posted before, I am a tester by trade and all of the data I have gathered points to the chip being faulty. I am going to call foundmy (thanks rafa) but I would like to know when you bought your chip! Maybe there was a bad batch?

okay sorry if this is up but i didnt really see any post that could help me or im still confused.
Uhhh So i need a GC controller to update 1.9g beta? i follow the first post as in creating txt, then make to bat file then double click. The iso becomes 1.35gbs roughly. So how do i make a regular iso so i can use the reset button on my wii instead of the GC controller?

I know that someone might want to tell me to just read through the forum or do a search. I have already read through this whole thread. I think that i am having the same problem as Snoba77er. I tried the 70% thing, and now my wii is not functioning properly. whenever i put in a dvd that the wii doesnt recognize,it spins for a few secs and completely stops. then when i eject, it ejects it half way, pulls the disk back in, and then spits the disk out completely. and after that i need to turn my wii off completely or any disk i put in will ahve the same outcome.
So i was wondering did u manage to fix ur wii snoba? or anyone else that had the same problem as me? I have done tons of tries with the recovery disk. burned at 4x and 2.4x, nonpadded/padded/gcos/non-gcos.. also tried using reset button, power button, and unplugging completely. maybe its cuz i'm using DVD+RW disks? the 1.9b update disk burned fine on that tho...
