The blu ray is the reason why ps3 is not going to sell. Who would want to pay extra couople hundred for blu ray? HD DVD rocks. Come on this is a company who invented beta.

Not really. You cannot really make that statement since there is no price point yet for the HD-DVD drive. It could be a hundred dollars for all we know.

i dont think this will be a good battle ps3 vs. x360 and wii being ralph nader.
i mean 100 million ps2s were sold and 20 million xboxs and the same thing will happen. i agree about the sega and supernintendo. cause the industry wasn't as evolved and there werent as many fan boys.

i think nintendo will own japan, and sony will own the other two contries, more so europe. the japanese show more interest in the wii cuz its cheap and looks like it can be fun and tune to their style of gaming. they show over and over that most dont care about the best graphics.
But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of very simple things. You forget, because youre so busy going from a to z, that theres 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out...

so every playstation game is compatible with the ps3.
(except that list of 8 or 9 ps1 games that don't work on the ps2.)

People keep bashing sony for beta. Ok yeah they did it and it fail but how long ago was that. Remember a little thing called the cd sony had their hand in that too. Trust me if it's one thing sony knows its optical media so forget HD-DVD theres no way in which it can ever or will ever be better than BR-D. I'll never understand whats behind statments like that if something's obviously better dont bash it because you know it is.

I could honestly care less about Blu-ray vs HD-DVD, but Sony's track record for new formats isn't exactly the best. (Not that it matters)

sonys otyher prepiratary formats also seem to fail or be slighly used, like umd, beta, memory stick duo, atrac, ect. i hope they do better this time around. sony messes with prepriatary too much.

hade is right. BluRay has the support of other companies like Pioneer, Mitsubishi, LG, Samsung, and Panasonic. I'll probably just give in and get the Sony BDP-S1 BluRay player (1080p thru HDMI!!!!) when it comes out in August - 3 months ahead of the PS3. It should be a sweet match for my Sony SXRD.

I find myself reading the same things over and over... I would suport the B-L but we just have to wait and see the outcome. This is not solving anything. And I do have to say that if Sony had all of this time to make the ps3 the best, then it better be "BEST" console.
And it depends on the Nintendo, Nintendo likes to find "new" ways of playing games rather then the games themselfs. In other words, the Nintendo wii or w.e will also be a good product.
Pc is the best at graphics. So in no time the Pc will be just as good or close to the ps3.
And Xbox 360 is more of a game/title company. They focous on the "Names" of their games like Halo 3,GTA:4 or w.e.
What I am trying to say is that there is no "Perfect" console that we r all looking for.

alright, we just had this huge vicious looking squall just run over our town and its only picking up pace, with lighting zooming everywhere. there were several tornados only a few miles from me. the storm is so violent because its coming from the north west, a very rare occation.. wisconsin and michingan are going to be so pwnt by lunch tomorrow, ahaha. the violent ones here now are going to get so much strenght off lake michigan its not funny.

i wonder what will really happen on its release. i think if u want a ps3 and u dont have a need for crazy cards or wifi than $500 is a great deal otherwise. $600 seems like more to the everyday customer, but to those that care for the extra parts will get it because the value is very well regained.

When I think about it its not that much money. Just look at the PortableVideoPlayers like the Archos AV 500 its like $600 and the laptops and video cards/upgrades. So just paying for the system is not that much...But I just cant pay the $70/$80 for a single game! thats just a little bit to much money for games/entertaiment.

Not many people is going to buy PS3 for $600. There games is going to be $60 when xbox 360 games are already $40. Not to mention 360 is been hacked and modchip is coming out. Ps3 has last this gen of war. It is now XBOX 360 VS WII. Sony is going to fail blu ray. It doesn't matter if company support it now, What company want is to sell and earn money, When HD DVD player start to sell, the company is going to switch to HD DVD.
Oops, Did i mention that xbox 360 graphic is only at 40% stage. Your going to be amazed in couple of years.
