Anyone got any suggestions.

I have a WiiKey which I think is 1.9s (still not too sure how you confirm this).
The Wii firmware is 3.2e.
All my Backups seem to work also all my originals seem to work.

However I have just purchased a WiiFit board. The original disk does not load also when you try to load it, the Wii will not turn off you have to pull the power lead. I have also tried a friends backup of the WiiFit disc but this displays the same symptoms as the original.
I really would like to get the WiiFit working.
I can Boot up GCos 1.3 and WiiKey 1.9s update. However I cannot boot up the WiiKey config disc.

I would really like to try out my new WiiFit, can anyone help me to get it working?????

Thanks in advance.

Ciao!
thanks for your response mate, much appreciated. I tried Mario Kart & after two unsuccessful attempts i managed to update the firmware, well i hope thats what i did when i accepted the update!

The outcome remained the same, i.e my console remained semi-bricked! Not sure what else i can do, i guess upgrading the wiikey firmware would not un-brick the console or ??

You will have to wait for the next Firmware-updating game.

Burn a new copy of 1.9s update and run it. Then try Wiifit again.

Thanks for your response RafaDawn.

So far I have tried to update the 1.9s firmware but I am not 100% its actually updating. Hence my question "still not too sure how you confirm this".
I can boot off the 1.9s Update disk no problem. But it always fails after the testing phase with Red writing something about check your connections.
BUT I read somewhere that if you eject the disk before the testing phase then it continues successfully.
I have tried this and it seems to work. The testing phase now works successfully however you need to re-insert the disk for the updating phase and at the end it reports it as a successful firmware update.
BUT I have no idea how to confirm that it actually has Updated?
I have tried this about 4 times now. Is that enough?

Do you have a suggestion of where I can dld another version of the 1.9s update disk?? So far I have tried the one from the www.wiikey.cn site and also ones from this URL http://www.nintendo-hacks.com/forums/t1074.html

I am just stuck now, I have a brand new WiiFit and original disk and I cannot play it. The kids are going MENTAL!!! :o))))))

Thanks in Advance and ANY help gratefully received.

Tom

WiiFit works!
Thought I let you guys know how I got along with all the updates etc. to get my WiiFit to work. Thanks for all the info on this Rafadawn!!!

I started of with WiiKey 1.9g beta and firmware on 3.1E before running any updates. WiiFit and Wii are both PAL.

1) I downloaded WiiKey 1.9s iso, filechopped it and "burned image" onto Verbatim DVD-R 16x disc using writing speed 4x only. Did the same with the 1.9s config iso (didn't have to use it yet though).

2) I updated the WiiKey with the 1.9s version. 1st Testrun was successful, then the actual update ran through and confirmed updated successful at the end.

3) Went online and let the Wii update the firmware to 3.2E. There is a message comming up that states "if you modified your Wii this update can prevent it from working in the future". I confirmed with "I accept" and the update went through fine.

4) I inserted the WiiFit disc and let the disc update its own software as well. Rebooted the Wii and WiiFit works.

Also all my backup games have so far been working even without me using the config disc to check or change any settings.

All looks peachey!!!

Ok, so I've just finished trying to flash my wiikey (both methods).
What happens is I follow the instructions, and even the first time when I got to the menu it showed the disc as a GC game. Proceeded to finish the flash, twice. config NTSC disc still isn't recognized. Tried method 2, same result. Any ideas?

How to find out what kind of modchip is installed on my Wii console without opening the box? Sorry for my dumb question :(

I found a list with a lot of modchips on wikipedia. Which one is mine? I suppose I have a modchip installed because I can play copied games and games burned from ISO files.

On Wii System Settings at the up-right corner of the screen I can see 3.2E firmware version.

Hoping that my modchip is a Wiikey I've tried an update to 1.9s but is not working. Also the config 1.4 disc is not working.

Finally my goal is to play Super Mario Galaxy :)

Hi Guys,

It seems that I too am having problems with updating my wiikey.

I have a pal system so I downloaded the pal update from the wiikey website.
I extracted the file (wikey.1.9s.pal) and burned it to a disc using imgburn without any hassle.
I put it into my machine to update it.
Everything was going swimmingly,

It read
"Initialising Drive...."
"Reading firmware data...done"
"stopping drive..."

Then is said,
"press A or reset to runTEST cycle"
I tried pressing "A" but nothing happened so I pressed reset.
"TESTING.. please wait......"

I thought everything was going fine until an error message read:

"ERROR: test failed!"
"check your connections and try again"

I tried burning off and running the config disc (cfg.1.9x.pal) too but that also came up with an error

I really dont know what I am doing wrong.
Can some one please help as I am nearly bald from all the hair that I am pulling out!!!

Thanks.

Hmmm, i had similar problems when i first starting this wiikey business. this is what i did when it happened to me:

1)Opened up the wii
2)Checked my connections with a voltmeter thingy (the thing that measures current)
3)Saw all was fine so i plugged the wii back in, but left the wii disassembled, wires were all connected,
4)Still didnt work
5) I just wiggled teh chip about and checked connections again, still had voltage from the chip to the board
6)While keeping the wii disassembled, plugged it back in
then it worked

I dunno if it was just wiggling the chip or something, or if u keep wiiconnect24 on, the unplug your wii for a few hours until it cools and then try again.

Hey, your best bet is to open up your wii and check. or if u want, you can hunt down all of the different config disks and burn them all, then just see which one works.

to all the people getting the

message.

Either you have a physical problem with your chip (bad/loose soldering, etc...), or you have a Wiikey clone that cannot be updated.

You should open you case, take a close-up of your chip and post it here.

Word for word this is exactly the problem I am getting.

So it looks like my chip is either faulty or a clone. I think I will open mine up and have a look.

2 specific questions though.

1. Does ANYONE know how to tell what the current firmware of the wiikey is?

2. I have read that when performing the WiiKey update if you remove the disk before the testing phase then the update reports successful.
I have tried this and yes it does but does it actually update? Can anyone confirm this? I dont think it does I think its a red herring.

Right, i guess i don't have any other option then!

BTW what if i upgrade the firmware to 1.9s, would that allow me to play the wii fit?

I have downloaded the 1.9s iso (1,425,760KB), date 01/11/2007 and i used the image burn to burnt it to DVD-R at x4. But the burnt dvd only shows 38.6MB used space, nothing free, is that correct?
cheers

I have an interesting twist on the wiikey 1.9s update problem. I originally burned a copy of ssbb on a dual layer before i was even aware of wiikey updates.

I put the burned disk and instead of saying disk read error it acutally asked to to update for brawl. So i updated and when the the wii reset it actually showed brawl in the disk channel. But when i tried to run it, it failed to read the disk.

Sorry for my ignorance, but is this unique? Im using the original firmware that came with my wiikey but it was able to recognize the backed up ssbb on a DL.

When i tried to update my wiikey to 1.9s it gave me the same error as jaybpool, "attempt failed, check your connections and try again." I then set region overide to on and tried again, but of corse it didnt work again. Does it matter what config version i use? I only have the 1.3 version.

Will 1.9g work instead? So i can just play the burned version of ssb.

Thanks for any help in advanced.

And if it was a clone, there is no possible way to update it to at least 1.9g? Also, as a last resort, is their a way to corrupt a cloned wiikey?

I really want to play brawl and would give up my ability to played back ups to do so.

Get an original Wiikey. If you cannot install it yourself, get an electronics repair shop to do it for you.
