wow so then is it official? Does 1.9s + 3.2u = dead wiikey? Sounds like 2 members have confirmed it! yikes, good thing I haven't upgraded to 1.9s yet

(PAL Wii, Wiikey 1.9s, Wii firmware 2.x)
Hey guys! I successfully updated my Wiikey to 1.9s.
I have a question about the 1.9x Config menu. I toggled the "Region Override" settings to "ON" and continued to "Save Settings".
However the next time i went back tot Wiikey config menu, "Region Override" is still at "OFF". I turned it ON again and saved again, but it's still "OFF" the next time i go back in.
So issit saved or not?
Anyway for those who don't have a GC controller, you can use the "Reset" button on the Wii. A quick press of the "reset" button scrolls thru the options, and holding it down selects the option.
Really need advice about the "save settings" issue with Region Override toggle.

trashyjun: I'm not sure if your setting is being saved, why don't you try putting in an out of region game and see for yourself?

There are no issues whatsoever with 1.9s and 3.2.
People experiencing problems should look to the usual suspects:
1) Firmware update gone bad
2) Bad burn
3) Physical problems with wiikey or soldering
4) Wrong settings

The wiikey settings are always saved when using the Config discs, regardless of what the display reads when you restart

im havin a prob with mario kart- wenever i put in it sez to take out disc shut down system and read the operating manuel, which is all written in white and the background is black... im guessing its cuz the version i downloaded had the update removed or somin so i need to know how to update to the latest version, or the mario kart version - shud i use the system update from the settings?

Ok!
Ran the hacked 1.3 config disc and through it I was able to finally run an NTSC config disc. B-U-T!, after running it no discs were recognized by the wii except for...., a freaking PAL config disc (just as before), so, after the PAL config disc everything runs, but still no 3.2 updates from games...

Hey i been reading most of the posts here, and i still need help, i had my wii moded few days ago, i technicly just bought the wii cuz SSBB ...and well V_V..for my surprise is not working anymore(its original), when i first came i though it would be easy upgrading but nothing happens, i have ran out of dvd's to burn for now, so i cant upgrade to 1.9s, i though i would need to upgrade to earlier upgrds like someone sugested, but nothing, it keep coming the same error: test failed check your connections and try again. So its very frustrating i tried padded, unpadded, the 1.4 config doesnt run i supose its because is not upgraded yet,i duno, so i didn tried 1.3 config plus i don have dvd 2 burn it right now, i didn knew there were upgrades so i didn ask anythin to the guy who installed it, because i didn knew my beloved ssbb would stop working, so i know its a wiikey, i duno if its a clone yet i have to go back on monday to trow my wii at his face prolly if it dont get fixed, so im wondering wat can i do, i dont think its bad installation but could be, i can read orig games, backups, just ssbb dont work, i dont have smg but i dont think it would work anyway, so i duno wat to do, i didnt tried the recover method yet, cuz im not sure what it does, because i read different things about it, so if i cant upgrade my wiikey, i keep geting the same error, i must try the recovery method so i can be able to upgrade? or this is just used when wiikey is not being able to read backups anymore, and its the way to fix it, its very frustrating plz help anything will do, i guess there is no solid solution for this but still i gota try, i cant leave my wii withouth ssbb :/

hey man, would like to help you out, but there are a couple of problems
1. You posted in the wrong thread. Click the ULTIMATE STICKY STICKY on top of the forums and it tells you where to post for SSBB problems. There is a thread, it has lots of answers. I know you don't want to read 3000 posts though but try posting there.
2. There is barely and punctuation, your post is very difficult to follow.
So why don't you refine your post and organize it into understandable issues, than go post it in the proper thread? I am sure someone will be able to help you then. I would give u some tips myself but I have no idea what problems your having, other than it is somehow related to SSBB.

Yes thx, is SSBB related , but i can't upgrade my wiikey to 1.9s (wich i think i need to read double layer dvd, im not sure about that), because when i run the test, it says:
ERROR: test failed! Check your connections and try again.
I never upgraded this wiikey, im with 3.1u firmware on my wii.
Someone posted here this steps for recovering:
"1) Unplug the Wii and plug it back in. (I like to start from a clean slate with a red LED)
2) Turn on Wii. Doesn't matter if theres a disc inside or not. If there is a disc, eject it. If there isn't, press eject anyway.
3) Insert 1.9b in the Wii. Let it stop spinning, and press A.
4) Wait at the menu until black screen pops up. If you want, give it 5 or 6 minutes. Proceed to next step after 8 minutes if the screen doesn't pop up.
5) Press the Reset button
6) Eject the 1.9b after it stops spinning.
7) Turn off Wii until Yellow Light and repeat Step 2-6 one more time. Flashing is a tedious task that doesn't always work. Give it one more go. At this point, you may or may not see a GC Logo in the Channel Menu.
8) Insert a backup. If it works, hooray! You may or may not want to update to 1.9g/1.9s at this point."
Do i need to do this in order to upgrade the wiikey? because i don't know whats wrong, should i follow this steps? or what else must i do to try fixing this error and successfully upgrading to 1.9s. Besides of course reprograming the chip, or getting a new one.

MikeH: Read the rules no requesting downloads allowed
void: Umm yea I'm not sure why it isn't letting you update. Are you trying to go from 1.9b (the one it comes with) to 1.9s? Maybe you should try 1.9g first, then try 1.9s. Also, the recovery disk is for when you mess up your flash, you don't need to use it unless your wii somehow turns off in the middle of an update and your wiikey stops working.

trashyjun - The wiikey operates in stealth mode. You CANNOT read its settings therefore when you load the config disc you are unable to obtain its current firmware or its region settings. If you made changes and saved them, you may correctly assume that the changes were made.

Yea at first i tried update directly to 1.9s, then tried 1.9g but no luck :(, i didn't know it came with 1.9b because i read somewhere there was a 1.2 ... so i even tried updating to 1.9b, but the same error keep coming.
I tried different ways of burnning dvd's, because i read someone had this error :

Im not sure about GCOS mode, or how this guy ran the update without it (if he did), because everytime i tried to update its like any other GC disc, it's supose to run on GCOS always? or maybe there is another way to run the update. Can't find a way yet.
If not...i guess i will have to wait and see what they tell me at the store, but i was hoping there was somthing i could do to fix this error, because i really need this wiikey upgraded.

cool but will it help me fix my wiikey? it won't read any burns after I upgraded to 1.2u I have over 20 different burned disks 1.4 configs 1.9b restore's 1.9s config's. At 1x 2x and 4x no worky. I know my wiikey is connected fine and was working great until I updated to 1.9s then 3.2u.

I have 1.9s and 3.2U the only problem i had recently was before the 1.9s update, i agree, prob bad upgrade or media, i have not had any problems.
I always try to follow the instructions, and I dont think they would release something in non beta form and has a bunch of bugs
Anywyas, I am a sucess story so far for the 1.9s and 3.2U

no sorry, the software is designed to give newbies all the stuff they need with out researching how to do it.
It has a userfriendly interface with a pre-readme display.
It autopads the files so theres no need to write patch code and fiddle with filechop.exe to try and get it working, (which by the way only works if you click it over and over again, if u couldnt get it workin).
This is a big project for me and i hope it helps people.

I had same problem. Just recover your wiikey with 1.9b recovery disc (GCOS), filechopped. after it updating should work.
someones said that if you take the disc (1.9g or s) just before it tests, i should go trough. But it doesn't really update anything.
So all your have to do is recover. that's it (I hope).
