I was playing SSBB on a dvd DL (the Pal converted Wiizard version) And it was playing fine. I have a 3.2E wii and 1.9s flashed wiikey. I turned of the wii and came back later to try to play ssbb and it worked but REAAALLLY SLOOWW. I turned of the wii and put ssbb back in and tried again and it registered. I clicked start and got the black screen error "turn of wii and consult the manual" stuff. I turned off the wii and turned it back on and now it won't read any backups. Originals work just fine but no backups work they just spin in the drive for 5 secs and then stop. PRetty much anything thats burnt just won't work. I never had any issues with the wiikey and it had been running smoothly until now. I opened up the wii and tested the connections and they seem to be fine
has anyone else had this problem. Any help greatly appreciated

BTW i've used different media and that doesn't help. Am trying the recovery disk now using many methods

Well, as strange as it sounds (but it works in most cases), even though your Wii might be at 3.2, it appears that in order to run Mario Kart, you have to run a game with a 3.1 update on it.

So try running SSBB and let it update, then run Mario Kart.

Let me know.

If the recover disc does not work, then check if any GCOS disc works. If they do then your Wiikey is alive. Then try GCOS versions of the Recover/Update/Config discs.

a big thanks to rodak for organizing all this info for us:

How to remove #001 Error from SSBB:

Quote:
I don´t take any credit for this information, this is just a "Copy and Paste" from different post around here.
All the credit should go to the original posters.

1. Download Trucha Signer 0.21 http://www.ingenieria-inversa.cl/files/trucha021.rar

2. Download RegionFrii 1.21 http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=722

3. Download Ultraedit http://www.ultraedit.com/

4. Unzip everything and put them into a central directory.

5. Open up the "wiikeyset.reg" that came with the Trucha Signer in UltraEdit and find the section:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wii\KeySet\2]

"name"="Custom KeySet 1"
"boot1 key"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
"common key"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
"sd key"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
"sd iv"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
"md5 blanker"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

6. Open the key.bin file in UltraEdit and make sure you are in hex mode (Ctrl-H).
* key.bin (You need to find it and download it for yourself, can´t link to this file)
Google it! It will have an MD5 of 8D1A2EBCD82A3469B77FACF15D9C8E50

7. Replace the "common key" line...

"common key"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00

...with the contents from key.bin. For example, if key.bin contained AABBCCDDEEFFAABBCCDDEEFF11223344, you'd enter...

"common key"=hex:AA,BB,CC,DD,EE,FF,AA,BB,CC,DD,EE,FF,11,22,33,44

8. Save the "wiikeyset.reg" file and activate it by double clicking on it. Click "Yes" to add it to the registry.

9. Start Trucha Signer and Select KeySet->Custom KeySet 1

10. Click Image->Open ISO and load SSBB ISO

11. Expand DISC->PARITION (RELSAB)->ROOT

12. Right click __update.inf and select extract to file (save it to your desktop and then delete the file)

13. Download Prophets modified __update.inf http://www.filefactory.com/file/6672f5

14. Right click __update.inf in Trucha and select Replace and browse for Prophets ProphSSBB.inf

IF YOU WANT TO REMOVE THE 001 ERROR AND CHANGE VIDEO MODE, READ AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST!

15. Right click PARTITION (RELSAB) and select Trucha Sign It! (do the same to PARTITION (RSBE01) just to be sure)

16. Close Trucha and start Regionfrii.

17. Load the SSBB Iso and select New Region->PAL (Default) and click Update ISO

18. Download and install ImgBurn http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download

19. Start up ImgBurn and go to Tools->Settings...->Write->Layer Break->User Specified and enter 2084960

20. Burn the game to a DVD+R DL

21. Insert the disc in your Wii and if it asks to update let it update 100%

22. Enjoy Brawl on your PAL Wii without dual channels

Additional info for some users:

Remove the 001 Error and Change Video Mode:
Do this between step 14 and 15.

1. Go into the second partition PARTITION (RSBE01), extract the main.dol

2. Open main.dol with bailli tool and hit "Remove 001" and hit "NTCS-2-PAL" then hit SAVE. if you do not hit save, it wont fix it.

3. In trucha signer, right click the main.dol that you just extracted, hit replace and replace it with your new modified main.dol

4. Right click the partition in trucha signer and resign the partition

Well I read about the wiikey and yet am still having problems. My main problem is the #001 error in Brawl. I updated the wiikey to 1.9s and when I run the game the error still appears. I accidentally updated the wii to the firmware that came with Brawl before installing the 1.9s update. Also whenever I put in the 1.9s config disc my wii just reboots.
I was wondering what is wrong.

1) Reinstall 1.9g ... then try SSBB

2) Try using a different brand of DVD ... (even if you have not had problems with your brand before, try it)

Let us know what happens.

Hi. I'm having pretty much the same problem with my wii as Mecha. My wii is a 3.2U with a 1.9s wiikey. My wii was working perfectly at 1.9g, but I decided to update to 1.9s to see if that would get mario kart to work (it didn't, I just had a couple bad burns). Although now my system isn't working the same way. The wii will read a backup, but if I turn off the system and come back to it later, it will load the game and then give me the black error screen. Although, if I unplug the wii and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, it will read backups again, until I shut it off. So I have to unplug the system every time I'm done with it and wait 10 minutes if I want to play another game right after. It works and I know my wiikey is working, its just a hassle. I've burnt two recovery discs already (on Sony DVD-Rs, which work just fine with my backups) and neither of them work. I'd like to know if anyone has had this issue and figured out some way to get the wiikey to read backups all the time.

First of all Thank you soooooo much for this, it's exactly what I was looking for, a complete howto.
Despite that, I still have a few doubts/questions; I own a NTSC wii updated to 1.9g, after updating I let SMG update and It work wonderfully. A few days ago I bought the SSBB NTSC full version (Dvd9) Back-up (not the original one :D) and almost every single FMV/video in game get stuck, the only one that works sometimes is the opening, I can't play The Subspace Emissary because after winning the first fight the animation get freezed and a white screen pops up. Well, my question is: Is there anything I can do to make it work?.
I'm already playing Mario Kart Wii (great game) without any problem.
well, thanks for everything.

It looks like there could be a solder problem (based on the 10-15 min wait and then working again).

Go back to 1.9g and then let us know what happens.

I tried flashing the 1.9g disc again and it loaded everything fine. I tried out one of my backups and worked, so then I turned off my system and turned it back on, and now it is doing the same thing. I tried the 1.9b recover disc a few more times after reading some tips on other threads, but I couldn't get the 1.9g disc to work after I powered off the wii. I don't really even know what firmware my wiikey has anymore. I think I will just have to check the solder points on my wiikey now.

Hi,

I'm sure one of you can help me out with a problem I have. I'm having trouble getting emulator disks to work on my Wiikey 1.9s modded Wii. All backups work flawlessly but out of the 5 disks I burned using BootableDisc3 and the snes emulator .dol file, none of them have worked. I'm also certain that I followed the guide to a key.

Whenever I put the disks in my Wii, the Gamecube logo comes up and then after I press Start, all I see is a black screen. After that no buttons on the wii-mote work nor does any on the GC controller. The only option after that I have is to turn off the Wii.

So what could the problem be? I also burned to Verbatim DVD-R disks at 4x speed. I would greatly appreciate any help whatsoever.

Thanks.
