It is not a piece of cake man, i have 3.2E and the shitty stuff from wiikey team doesnt work (neither config 1.9x nor 19s update) so its not a piece of cake...
Maybe when you have a few problems with your wii or wiikey yourself, you have a diferent perspective on this matter...

I just Updated my Wii to 1.9G US and used the 1.3 config disc from the links in the first post that were already padded and GSOC'd but now after the install ( i heard homers voice etc.) now my burned games will not work, before the newst wii updates it worked great, RE4, my ROM's now it will only play certified Wii games, what do i need to do, reburn the games.....did i install something wrong??? (maybe the links was an older version of 1.9 maybe the beta version instead of G?? or config disc is wrong??
just noticed the 1.9G is the beta version, if there are more up to date already padded/GCOS ready to burn DVDs , can someone plz give me the links, tyvm

Ok folks. I found a shortcut for updateing. I turned off my Wii (with the key) trying to update to 1.9x US. I could play some back-up games. However most could not be read got error messages. Well I put Super Mario Kart in (not backed-up). Got the channel on the main screen (top right corner). Eject disc and put the update disc back in (1.9x). Got the Game Cube display in the channel box and re-rean setup. Had to reset 2 times per the on screen display guide, and it now works with back-ups. Hope this helps some of you. No I have not tried to use any disc but US games. So I did not try to change any config options.

I'm trying to upgrade my wiikey to 1.9s so I can play SSBB, but I can't get any of the update discs or config discs to work. PAL backup games work (latest I've tried is Star Wars FU), so no problem there ! I'm also trying to turn region override ON, but so far unsuccessful ! I'm at 1.9g and a downgraded 3.2E. Could the updates be loaded from the homebrew channel ?

I've spent numerous days reading hundreds of pages and want someone to confirm if I understand this correctly.
I have a US Wii at 3.1 with WiiKey at 1.9g. I understand that the 1.9s Wiikey upgrade is in order to play ORIGINAL SSBB. However, this is not necessary to play backup copy of SSBB and that 1.9g will suffice. Is this true? I've read many have problems with playing backups after 1.9s and don't want to risk it if I don't plan on playing the original. (I know other have had no problems)
Also, what update is on the SSBB disk? Does it upgrade me to 3.3? I have the original US disk. I get a little confused on the difference in the updates on the disk and the ones over the net. Being the disk is US and my Wii is US, can I just dump via Friidump and burn the iso with via Imgburn not modifications?
Thank you all in advance for helping out this noob.

Wow, I have been away for a while and had no idea what was going on. I'm running 1.9g firmware on my Wiikey and 3.2 Wii firmware and I have yet to have a problem with a Wii game (even new ones). I've played SSBB, Mario Sluggers, Mario Kart and a few other new ones and I have yet to have any error messages whatsoever. I don't get it, according to you guys I would have had to have the 1.9s update in order to play SSBB, but I never updated. These are all backups that I'm talking about by the way.

Yes, I read that 1.9s is only needed to play original disk of SSBB. I think many people are playing backups and think they need 1.9s and are screwing themselves up. Did SSBB backup as for you to update anything?

Hi, a couple of noob questions..I have had my wiikey for over a year with no real problems. I have never updated it. However now I believe is the time to update. I have downloaded 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 etc to 1.9S. I currently have version 3.2U on the Wii. When I tried inserting 1.2 update disk it just says error reading disk, and to turn off the Wii. The question is should I run these earlier updates to get to 1.9s or just run the 1.9s update? I am not sure. I thought I read that the 3.2 update would prevent some firmware updates...am I screwed? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No problem reported for Lego Batman. As a matter of fact the game works even when run through brickblocker.
BTW: It's totally safe to update to 1.9s, and you can stay at 3.2, since no game need 3.3 as of now.

Is there any reason to update to 1.9s other than to play original disk of SSBB? As I understand, it is not necessary to update to 1.9s to play backup of SSBB.

Okay, I am new here so I am sorry in advance... haha
I just got a wii and had a wii key installed.
I d/l the wii key 1.9s update and the config 1.9s.
I was told to run the update, then the config, and that would be it.
I ran the update 1.9s , it verified it, but when it tells you to hit any key, my remote goes out, so I just turn it off.
Then I insert the config 1.9s and I see the nintendo game cube in the tv screen, then I click start and it tells me it can not read disk and to refer to manual.
I can play USA games, But will not allow PAL games , etc...
What can I do for the config disk?
What am I doing wrong.
Please help...
Thanks in advance,
Vonneffdobermans

Rafa or any other expert,
I got my console back when they first went out (late 2006). So i suspect it is first version of hardware.
In 2007, I got a wiikey. Let us assume it is not loaded (empty firmware)
Becase of the very low availability of the console, and the fact that it was only used by the kids (8 years and younger at the time), I decided not to install the wiikey.
My console is currently at 3.2U via recently purchased wiiFit.
Will this firmware prevent me from loading firmware in my wiikey?
Is there a way of downgrading?
Will GCOS version of the config or update disc load my wiikey?
I have not physically installed the wiikey yet.
Thanks !!
