Its just that easy yet.I have a Wiikey 2.
Just download the update and rescue disk, extract them, and burn the image with imgburn.
http://www.wiikey.cn/resources/

Make sure to read the instructions included on how to use the discs.
I have a first gen wii and a first gen wiikey. I think I have 1.9 loaded on my wiikey (1.9s perhaps) and 3.3U on the wii itself.

Do I need to update the wii and/or the wiikey using the above links or via the wiikey internet connection? I havnt done any updating in a while.

Also, when I searched for info on the wii music game, there were sveral questions but no responses; i want to buy this game and use backups as I do with my other games. Are there any issues with this game?

The links I provided are for the Wiikey 2 chip.

The links you would want for Wiikey 1 are on the first page.

or here:

I have not heard of any issues with the wii music game, but can't say for sure as I don't have it.

i have a wii console at ver. 3.1u firmware. i installed wii key 2. i tested console after mod with original wii game and everything worked fine. i got two games from a friend metroid and kawasaki jet ski. he burnt them but hadnt tested them as he does not yet have the mod.im the guinea pig.the kawasaki jet ski wasnt recognised but the metroid came up as a gamecube game with 4 selections in it. i selected 1 of the games then it asked to select the type of console you were using but wii was not one of the options. we selected the nintendo option and got a rainbow colored screen that didnt go away. we reset game and wii would not recognise it. i burnt a disc of the wiikey v1.2 update and config. combo. the update was prompted and flashed succesfully. i rebooted and configured, and save config settings. neither game was recognised. can i assume neither game is burnt properly and if so why did metroid get recognised on the first attempt, or does it sound like ive done something wrong. my soldering skills are pretty good and original wii and gamecube games still work. any advise would be apreciated. thanks

I'll be honest and say I haven't messed with my wii in a month or so since I started haveing isues with games not working that had always worked. I really think that the issue is with the firmware for the wii key and not your install. Even though I have the newest 1.9s wiikey and 1.4 config I have had tones of issues with games not recognizing or just quite reading as the wii loads. I have been waiting to see if the wiikey guys come up with a new firmware that corrects all these issues. Like I said I have about 125 games that have all worked in the past and now only a handfull do now. Until I get a chance to mess with it my PS3 has been getting all the game play. good luck with your issues.

i solved my problem by reading the disks my friend burned then rewriting them to a better quality disk.my copies worked flawlessly. ive read that lesser quality disks will either not work or will fail 3,6,9 months down the road. try rewriting one of your disks that isnt working to a new disk and see if it kicks in. thanks for the help

TwoTon,
I'm not sure if you are addressing your comment to me. I use Taiyo Yuden dvd -r disks burned at 4x (instead of 8x) which according to the reviews, are reasonably good quality. Any other suggestions?

Anyone took the 3.4 yet? I have a Jap Wii and updated it with 3.4J several days ago... after having been off the Wii for about 6 months.

I can play the Wii Fit NTSC fine but see duplicate channels (Weather etc.). So, the question is, will 1.9s JAP be a problem?

Thanks

hey Rafa, maybe you can help. I've got a US wii with 3.1U firmware and i had my wii modchipped 5/17/07 but i dont know what the firmware on the wiikey is, i havent updated it since it was done though. Ive tried both filechoped and non filechopped GCOS config and 1.9s update disks. I have a GCOS SNES/NES multi disk that works fine. The multi disk is on a Apple brand DVD, the ones ive tried recently are on Dynex DVD-r's. Should i go get some Verbatim's and try the same disks again? Or could i possibly be doing something else wrong? I used WiiUI on the GCOS config but not the 1.9s update disk.

thanks for any help

I am no expert by any means.

But if I were you I would try to run the recovery disk on the first page under
Official Wiikey Resources
C) If your Wiikey is not responding to either Config Discs or Update ones, then try to revive it by using the Wiikey Recover Discs below:

1.9b Recover [Link to a short but useful 1.9b Recover discussion]

Make sure to read the instructions thoroughly

Hey everyone! In short, I can't get the 1.9S Update to work and I have read mulitple forums! Here's a rundown:

1. NTSC Wii with 3.3
2. 1.9G Wiikey
3. All originals are working
4. All backups are working
5. All prior Config and Update discs ARE working
6. Just cannot get the 1.9S update to go through successfully

I have tried Verbatim, Maxell and Memorex + and - R discs, with ImgBurn and Nero at 2x and 4x and multiple burners. It recognizes the disc and runs all the way up to the test 100%, then tells me it Failed and to check my connections. Though all of my backups are working, all the config discs work INCLUDING the 1.9s Config! I have tried downloading the 1.9S update multiple times, and even GCOS'd it and I did filechop the images to 1.35GB. The disc works, it just fails the test. But the 1.9G goes through just fine and the config discs work just fine. Any ideas why I can't get the update to go through? I was wondering if the 3.3 would stop it, but all the research I've done state that the 3.3 update only affects Trucha signed and homebrew. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

Quick question I have ver. 3.3u now and I just updated to 1.9s and config 1.9s to block region updates is it ok to update to ver 3.4u I don't use homebrew games. I also heard that 3.4 agreement allow nintendo to updated your wii without your consent is this true. because I would like to use wii shop news channel and etc but it says I have to run system updates for the install.

Yes as long as you don't use homebrew you can do the update.

I updated my wiikey 2 so I could use my wii points card and all is good.
But I have read that others with your setup have updated and all is fine.
It only affects homebrew and trucha signed disks.

I had that same problem once before my chip was defected so I got a new one and had it professionally installed now everything is working like it should. I don't know if your problem was the same as mine but it sounds similar

Not too my knowledge. I don't think they would just do that.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/System_Menu_3.4

There is a new revision in drives now being distributed in new Wii's I believe in Australia that won't work with modchips at the moment.
That is more the angle I think they will try.
But modchip installers are already looking at them before the rest of the world gets these new Wii's

Its fine as long as your not using homebrew or trucha signed disks.
Do a search and you will see, always good to find more info so your sure.

Hi! Could somebody help me out?

I have:
- NTSC-U first gen Wii
- G2S-DMS chipset
- 3.3U Firmware
- Wiikey 2 with wii-clip attachment

Problems:
1) Not all backup games work, especially Mario Kart Wii which worked when I had the Wiikey 1 but games like De Blob, Super Smash Bros, Fire Emblem work
--- using Sony DVD-R and Memorex DVD-R
Guitar Hero World Tour Works but freezes here and then like right after choosing the difficulty

2) Wiikey 2 Configuration Disc v1.2 will start but after it will say "Sorry, no wiikey 2 found!" Is it because of the wii-clip? I bought the Clip pre-soldered to the wiikey 2 but once I found out that for the DMS chipset only needed 5 wires/solder connections, I had to remove the traces D, E, F, G solder points from the wiikey 2 and the wii-clip.

3) Is there a way to remove the updates that newer games automatically try to run when you play them? I heard the config disc can do that but since I having problems with it, I don't really know.

Thanks! Much Appreciated.

Hey,

This is my first post here at this forum, basically because this is the only place I need to say anything.

But anyway, I have a question about this 3.4 update so here's the information.

-PAL Wii 3.2
-WiiKey 1.9s
-Back ups from other regions used
-No homebrew used

I basically need to know what would happen if I updated since I'm getting Guitar hero: World Tour for my Wii for Christmas, and I want to be able to play online/get the Downloadable content.

Please help me!
