I am a newbee. I have only been burning movies three weeks and have not as much patched a hole let alone a movie. I have downloaded cddvdgen and apache2 but couldn't open them because they were .RAR files. So I went a lookin' fer a cure and found a few freewares Quickzip and optimal acheive 1.1. Has anyone used these or able to tell me if I found the right tool? I have obviously never seen a .RAR file but I have read up on them a little now. Thanks for any help.

Hey wally31 look for Winrar probably one of the best tools for opening .rar files and compressing files into an archive.Another tool that is pretty good is winzip, pretty much the same thing just uses .zip files instead and can open .rar files also.I think you can find both of them off a site like http://www.downloads.com you can choose which one you like the best.To be honest I like winrar, has been pretty easy using this program and sometimes people like to password protect .rar files which is not really a big deal if you have a passrar cracker ;).Oh and 7zip is another tool that is suppose to be pretty good for making archive files, but is alot more complicated than the other two.

The legendary Sonix has released a guide and tools for downsampling the movies for God of War full game Dvd5.Check out http://www.backuptools.co.uk to get the tutorial and tools.Big thanks to Sonix once again for supplying the tools and tutorial ;).He beat me to it,but I will still put up a tutorial later on that will cover PS2 .pss format conversion for any game that uses the .pss format structure for videos.

I think one thing is missing, not sure though haven't tried out the tutorial provided by Sonix yet.You have to convert the .wav file to .ads for some reason or another. The PS2 doesn't recognize the .wav format, easy fix though just grab ps2str program and convert the .wav files to .ads then mux the .m2v file and .ads file together.PSSPlex doesn't let you actually combine the .ads file with the .m2v file either so it can be done all with ps2str program.Take it easy will get back real soon, want to try out the tutorial provided before saying anything is missing or not.I am not really sure though at the momment, just kinda curious how the .wav file picks up.

Sonix is the man no lie,he is putting out some decent tools left from right.Much respect and hopefully one of these days I can maybe make a program or something.I am not experienced enough at the momment to make anything like the top dog rippers. It would be cool to be able to build the tools they make, not as easy as it looks though.Make sure to check out the GOW 2nd tutorial I am pretty sure it works.

Peace L-Burna

Wow, that is amazing. Someone who's put countless hours and computer power into crunching that down, developing his own process, and sharing step by step progress the entire way is giving props to someone else.

Hats off!

I think Sonix is the man, no doubt...that said I have to say that his method is not self contained and foolproof in and of itself. There are some snags as uncovered by myself and others with the ims/iml files and the missing .cnf error.

It seems to me that your methods if they were documented today, and since they use his original tools as a baseline would work much smoother. I will DEFINITELY be rebuilding the DVD-5 from my 7.9X GB iso, and will look at his method and consider what I know you've been doing to see what works easiest for me, a lamen.

Either way - you guys are both the man in my book!

Cool deal!! Sonix did a walkthrough almost exactly like I did it! (I just did the bonus movies though)
Added some sweet batch files to take care of the rather lengthy muxing/demuxing of the media files too!

Although he's got a IML2DVD program in there, not sure why he switched to that from Apache2

ONLY thing better would be a Job file for TMPG to do a batch process!

Actually I think there are some plugins you can put into TMPGEnc to make a PS2 video.Look for the .mcf plugins for TMPGEnc should make it alot easier.I have the plugins just didn't use TMPGEnc just did it a different way, better quality though on all the videos.I just keep them all at the same quality except the Bonus03 I kept that at it's original state. The reason why is I think it isn't extracted right,it is out of sync.I went and edited it when I went through the first time, but deleted it and just don't have the time to go back and mess with it.

Where can I get IML-2-DVD?

I have the other 6 applications (seems silly to need that many, but he's the man right?)

thanks for the help

And L-Burna, so your method reduces the quality of more videos less? As opposed to this way? I have not read through the whole tutorial yet, so please elaborate as I may still use your method.

Hey prpl_haZe that is pretty much a good way to look at it man.If you go through all the videos you don't lose the quality of the videos compared to just messing with the bonus movies. It will work both ways, though I can't really say the bonus movies will look decent if you just mess with them.If you edit all the movies you can keep a pretty decent quality, because not much compression has to be done to downsize the vids if you use all of them ;).

I know this is a little off track, but my backup of God of War still requires dvd loaderv7 all to work right. Is there anyway you could just include dvd loader on the GOW backup. I thought I had seen it somewhere that you could. I just need a detailed tut on how to do this. Thanks for any help someone could offer.

Hahaha lol I just noticed something Jizmak that is how my PS2 is setup also bro.In memory card slot 1 I have a memory card, memory card slot 2 I have the ARMax memcard(dongle). Then I use a corded PS2 controller, was using a logitech cordless controller, but got to where it needed the batteries changed out to often so I pretty much said screw it and used the corded controller. My fliptop is black though, and I got the one that has a Z on the top.It was a long time ago when I got it,so didn't really have a choice to get one of the fliptops without the Z on the top.I might go back and fix the BONUS03 video again, and the BONUS20 video. When the GOW tool extracts both of those videos they aren't right,so those two have to be fixed by doing a disc scan with cubemediaplayer and then extracting them from CubeMedia2.Still though it might not make much a difference only two videos that I see that need to be fixed.

Yep there is one thing you can do man,if you get cubemediaplayer http://www.cubemediaplayer.com has to be the registered version so you can extract the videos. You can do a disc scan from the original god of war disc, and then extract the BONUS20 video. For some reason BONUS20 and BONUS03 are not extracted right from the GOW tool. The BONUS03 video is out of sync, meaning when they talk it looks like off a godzilla movie or something like that(moving lips, but voices don't match to what they are saying). The BONUS20 as you mentioned doesn't have the music, which isn't extracted properly.Easy fix though just try out Cube player and do a disc scan then extract the movies that you need alright.I hope this helps out, cubemediaplayer is not a free tool though. It costs 15 dollars to have it fully functional which will allow you to extract the videos.

The BONUS03 video is the Making of GOD of War,when you watch it the .wav file doesn't match the actual video. The .wav file is right, but the actual video is out of sync. The GOW tool I think has a bug in it,when extracting the BONUS03 video it doesn't extract it right.CubeMediaPlayer has to be paid for to have it register to actually extract PS2 vids, sorry man the people that made the tool didn't make it a free project. The tool works like a charm though well worth it to me.

I now have a registered Cube Media Player and it is running thru the a God Of War ISO I ripped from the original game I am getting the BONUS03.PSS movie but I'm not getting the BONUS20.PSS movie and when I get the PSS videos from the ISO I'm getting a messege like this "Mpeg2 Flag Error" every so often. Can somebody explain to me what that is and how to go about and fix the problem please?

I have a V.5 Playstation. With a DMS3 mod chip installed. I also have a dual layer burner. Will my PS2 be able to read a copied dual layered disc? Not a rebuilt one, an exact copy of an original 8.0gig disc to a dual layered blank media. This would be helpful info just so I dont go buying dual layer blank media if my PS2 wont read it.

Also where is the best place to get this media

Hey iba5000 you should do a disc scan from the original disc.If you use the ripped version you already made,it will not work.It will give you the BONUS20 that was ripped with the GOW tool made by Sonix, same thing applies to the BONUS03 video. You can go a longer route which is scan the PART1.PAK file not the one you created with the GOW tool, but the one that is extracted from the 7Gig iso of God of War.The PART1.PAK file should be 3.96Gig in size when extracted from the NTSC iso of God of War.The size of the game is 7.93Gig in size if you make the iso with DvdDecrypter NTSC version. The MPEG2 Flag Errors are caused by the PART2.PAK file. The PART1.PAK and PART2.PAK are suppose to be the same file that is why you are getting that message. When Sony pressed the dual layered game, the .PAK files where actually one file.It doesn't work like that though, since the file is bigger than the first layer of the disc it makes it burn to the second layer. The .PAK files both are one file, just split from putting it on dual layered media.RyKnOw I have no clue man, can't really give you an answer becuase I don't own a modchip. If the modchip can support the Toxic Bios V1.3 then you can play dual layered media, you could try that out to see if that works.I think http://www.newegg.com is the best I have seen so far that carries blank recordable media, http://www.meritline.com is alright also just a little more expensive.
