if this happens after a while that you opened the system and you have opened your console for a YLOD fix , you probably didnt plug the fan back...

if you didnt open the console at all , its probably fan failure , let it work and put your hand on the back to see if there is any hot AIR coming out!
if you are in warranty and the fan is dead you should probably take it back for a replacement!

i pulled it down last nite, as i figured its d fan, frm i got it, i didnt feel any air being blown or heard the fan at all, so after pulling it down i came to realise that dust had clog the fan and had to blow out the dust, n free up the fan by spinning the blades, so after putting her back together i powered it on, it boot up n work fine after, played fifa for like 30mins, no problems at all

guys have a look at this thread http://robinhoodsplayground.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=190&t=4745 seems that something similar to fixing the RROD for the 360 could work!!

Binary code...

Flux+PS3=Yay

Did my second PS3 ylod fix today and this time I tried using flux along with the heat gun. What I did was get some liquid flux (not the paste) and I litterally held the board sideways and poured a liberal amount on the board. I then let the flux flow underneath the chips (turning the board several times to make sure it got all the way under the chips) then heated as before with my gun. Im 8 hours into testing (2 hours on, one hour off to simulate the heating and cooling) and its working famously. I cant say for certain the flux helped but im sure it didnt hurt. :)

Almost forgot to mention, I ran out of Artic 5 so I just used the cheap thermal paste on this one, time will tell but so far so good.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words so heres a few:
http://wiiman.ca/resources/images.htm

Basicly I just put the board on its side and let the flux run between the chips and the board tilting it to get it evenly spread. I will mention that you should try not to get it on the tops of the chips as its really sticky and hard to clean off.

The liquid flux should be available from any electronics supply store like Active Electronics (If your Canadian) As for how much I used, I kinda just poured :)

HELP, after reflowing my ps3 now it seems i got no power going into the system, i thought maybe my power supply was bad then bought a good used power supply and still no power going to the system. no red, yellow green lights, nothing. i also try switching the cable for the power buttons around and still nothing. im starting to wonder if i had melt some solder or burn something on my board. anyone knows what else may cause this. please help

There could be a break in the ribbon cable which is too small to see.

o yes, i pulled the ribbon cable out and inspect it and it does seem like i have damaged my ribbon, i think. at the end of the ribbon, it looks like i have splitted the coppers as though i pull the cord to hard. bing1978, do u remember if yours was damaged like that. i wanna make sure that its not supposed to be like that b4 i buy a new cable. let me know. thanks

Hi again!

After 3 weeks, my ps3 died again :( So, what should I do? Reflow it again, or buy a new one? Because If I reflow again i fear that it will operate another 3 or 2 weeks then die again... Could you do the reflowing process a second time?

Thanks in advance.

Endru.

Correct me if im wrong here guys, but as long as you dont "overcook" your machine while reflowing you can pretty much do it as many times as you want. In your case I would try the liquid flux on the board with your second reflow, theres a bunch of info about it earlier in the thread.
