@aabbccdd
yes my friend, i still have full access to both my accounts, i just wanted to see how a "fresh start" of sorts would affect the responses i received from people that didn't know me from my kivory666 username :) i wanted to see for myself whether or not a person's "title status" here garners any more "respect" compared to a "newbie" with sound advice~ :P
@garmoon
while it hasn't been clinically proven YET i have multiple personalities, i can be a bit goofy at times LOL. i suppose i just wanted to see from an inherent psychological standpoint how people react simply based on a person's "title." for those that know me in the media forums, it's been my pleasure discussing media in detail with you all. but there are literally hundreds if not thousands of members here on AD that don't "know me;" this will perhaps give me an opportunity to engage them in a debate of sorts if they are giving out misinformation. i believe in educating those that are willing to listen and learn and providing them with ACCURATE information regarding their query. not much gets accomplished when you have the blind leading the blind LOL, this usually compounds the initial problem/issue even more so if led down the wrong path; resulting in a lot of wasted time, money, and a big headache to boot. :)
i'm glad everyone in this thread has dispensed accurate and good information to help others, unfortunately, i can't say the same holds true for a lot of other threads here on AfterDawn~ :)
@greensman
i've always liked the quality of Pioneer drives, i have multiple units of the older dvr-109, that you know i've crossedflashed to buffalo firmware (8.58 in fact) and i removed the rip-lock on it too. i use my pioneer soley as my "ripping drive" and burn on my benq-1650 for DVD+R format media, if i burn DVD-R, i will ultimately use my pioneer as my burns turn out great on DVD-R w/ the pioneer.
each drives serves a purpose in my book, i have found each of them is better suited depending on the task at hand. it's been a very long time since i've purchased a new optical drive, but until my current drives die on me (and their replacements i have in the closet), i'm a happy camper. :)
@cincyrob
keep the faith...don't give up just yet, things will start looking up soon, as things always seem to work themselves out in due time. to answer ur question regarding my dad's build, it's completed...on the Asus P5WDH-Deluxe w/ an E6600, air cooling currently w/ a Zalman 9700LED and NB/SB mods have been performed...decent overclock, but nothing extreme like you would find on my own builds...@ 3.2ghz (much like Mort81's initial speed, i believe he's bumped his up higher since then) memory @ 1:1 800mhz using Corsair pc2-6400C4 kit :) let me know come time for ur new build in the future or if you have any questions regarding how well TYs work on a core2duo system LOL :)
have a good weekend everyone.

lol - docTY you might be surprised by how your 'status' is seen by some members here. Not all but there are some that think title is everything and treat you accordingly.
Of course when 'title' is based on post count is really means squat as we all know.
I've been known to have a different personality - may just have to pull that one out again :)

@docTY,
Yeh so far I really like the Pioneer DVR-112L and if I need another drive they may be the ones that I look at first. I like the Lite-On LH-18A1P but from the articles and feedback I've read it seems the Litey's are loosing some respect from some of the users across the board.
I haven't had any problems but some people have. (Don't think I'm pointing fingers cincyrob, there are many others that I've seen) I think these newer "over" speed burners are having problems because of the f/w issues (as you've mentioned) and the media not able to keep up with the crazy speeds these people are trying to push them at (16X-20X).
I really don't see the gain in speed compared to the drop in quality. I know that some drives burn/write dang good for those speeds but WHY??? Anyway I like what I have right now and get great results most of the time so "Ima happy camper too". LOL.
You trying to boost your post count by talking to yourself. hehehehe. Sorry couldn't pass that one up since your dealing with multi-personalities lately. Mwuaaahahahahaha.
@binkie7,
Please let me know when you let this other personality out of the cage so I can stay inside out of the STORM. hehehe. Hope you had a relaxing weekend and are ready for another week of school before "Spring Break". *grins*

Ok enough sucking up. ROFL.......
Thought that I would post this just for you docTY. It's a TYG03 burned with the Pioneer DVR-112L copied from another TYG03 for my wife and her study group. :)
TYG03 burned at 8X with Pioneer DVR-112L and scanned with a Lite-On LH-18A1P at 4X.
I will post this on the scan thread too but I wanted you guys to see the new Pioneer DVR-112L performance and see these beautiful TY's and the results they get with my setup. ;-)

Welcome Back Doc, You're the man in my book regardless of title. You've given me a great idea,
I'm tempted to change my name and stay out of the cell phone forums.
Some of those people should go to the console forums and live there a while.

which ever personality it is today.lol
ive been looking at all the reliable media sorces online and it seems that the 16x+r TY's are very hard to find.16x-r's are all over. and the hub printable 16x+r TY's ive only found in 1 shop. are these that rare that they are not out in supply or are they just not reliable enough yet for TY to have them out more in the main stream???

@gus
the scans show you how well or bad your disc has done on your burn.
the top half of the scan shows the PIE's(parity inner errors)you dont want that number to go above 280. if it does then that disc might not be able to be read by your player.
the bottom half shows your PIF's (parity inner failures) these are the ones you want real low. you dont want them to be over 10 max(myself i dont want them over 4 max)
when you combine the 2 test together will tell you (supposed to) how good your disc is after you burn onto it....
heres the catch these test aren't 100% reliable...everyone here has had a scan that looked awfull but played perfect, and they/we/me have had a scan look great and not play at all. they are good to get a round about idea how your disc is going to do..the best test is how the disc plays and if you can rerip from it. thats the best test..
take a look at this thread scans

Ya'll ain't gonna believe this. LOL.
I went to Circuit City today, I NEVER go there, to see what kind of discs they have in stock. AND what do I see but the 8X Sony DVD+R MIJ 50 spindle. I couldn't believe it. BUT they were $35.99 each 50 pack (they only had 1). SOOOO I went to Staples who has the Sony's on sale for $14.98 each 50 pack. I bought one 50 pack there and traded it at Circuit City with no problems. LOL.
NOW I have another 50 pack to burn sparingly. hehehe. Just in case you don't know the ID is YUDEN000-T02-00......:)

As usual I'm off topic but it's so close. LOL.
@fredbun,
No the Staples ones didn't say MIJ, they were MIT DVD+R 16X. And if they did I would have purchased all they had. IMHO the YUDEN T02 may be the best media on the market. :):):):)
@bigwilly,
My explanation as it were/was:
"Man I received these as a gift from (relative of choice...I used Mom) and I really need the 8X version because my drives are "OLD" and prefer the 8X type media. Would it be ok to trade these 16X for some 8X? I was just in here minutes ago and noticed you had some 8X media that was the same brand and is selling for the same price as the 16X stuff."
Something like that!!! ROFL!!!!
Hope all is going well in TY burn land. Yeah for TY's. :)

bigwill68, edit your sig to conform to forum specs ASAP.
2. An image-only signature should be less than 50kb in size, and be at most 500 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall.
4. If you want to use both text and image in your signature the image should not be more than 500 pixels wide and 100 pixels tall, and you can use up to three lines of text.

In regards to bigwill68's signature, there might be a reverse polarity lightning strike; be careful. His sig is already electrifying. Be ready to Duck! LOL

You're starting on a slippery path here. No only will you sig get you into trouble; preaching from your bully pulpit is also against forum rules; which you should quickly review. Keep your religious beliefs to yourself.
This is not a thread to be messing with either.

@bigwilly,
Just post a "larger still pic" of the one that you have now. It's only 136x164 now and you can go to 300x200 or something like that. We get the point and a still picture would definitely get the point across just as well in my opinion. RULES are RULES my friend. :):)
