Well, the 5 coasters I've burned so far have been with IMGburn (which i thought was a good program), an LG burner, and at the recommended speed, 8x. Any ideas why?
Btw Nero isn't an option for me because I have a mac. My only options are the disk utility (which has worked for me in the past) and roxio.

well it looks like the 16x+r hub printable TY's are starting to come out in more places.. meritline has them now supermediastore has them also and at a pretty good price... 100 of them for $49.99 shipped. 50 cent a disc for hub printables is nice...
dont know if this link will work but here it is
http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-1...-printable.html
think i'll check out newegg and see if they have them yet?

@Rossjam
Your brand new LG 2166d burner is actually an older model. I have had mine for 1 1/2 years and no problems. It will actually outrip my benq 1650s. A fine burner. The firm ware I'm using is 1.01 and was last up dated in Feb 06. I have no trouble burning 8XTYs or 16X Verbs with the 1.01 firmware.
Get firmware here. http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

Do what garmoon says. You may want to take a look at AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 at slysoft.com. That's all I use just about anymore. I don't know if it'll work on a MAC or not, but if it does and you're not wanting to get fancy, these are what you want. You can get a 21-day trial to make sure it'll fit the bill.
So, keep checking back. Lots of knowledge in these forums here, so don't be afraid to ask. Hey, and if you find the answer, post it! Chances are it's some little something you may be overlooking. Just as a thought, try throttling back to maybe 6x or 4x.
Good luck!

Curious about some new SATA drives.
I haven't used any SATA devices yet. But apparently
Sony has come out with a new line featured at Newegg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827152079
Reviews are all positive. Funny thing is that the product pix
don't show Nero7 as included software.
And the other funny thing is one in the series has all positive reviews while another is very problematic.

hello guys,
well, lately i have experience some playback issues with the tyg or. i dont know if its the valuelines or whatever. sometimes the disc will skip and freez and sometime it came out as Coaster. most of the Coaster came with Nero buring rom. i dont think it should be my burner both px716. i dont know if i should stock up on the t02 or just get the ritek from office depot. I think the Verbatim +r is really fantastic and slightly superior then the tyg02.

@Yujenh,
Silly questions first. :) You've done a disc cleanup, defrag, f/w update, and general check of the computer??? If so you may look at the different drives that you are using and make sure there isn't something that you are overlooking. Just considering a bad drive, it could be old or worn out. I wouldn't think so but it does happen. What about using a different drive in the system that you now have?
Some more info would be nice too. If you can give us a Nero log (make sure to post without the reg #). I'm not much on reading them but I know a couple of members that would be glad to look at it. :)
I wouldn't discount the media at this point either. Is there any visible imperfections on the disc? Something to think about too.
Ok enough for now. Please get back we us and see what we can do. :)

I purchased 600 TYO2's from "Surplus Computer Stores" and ALL are potential coasters. All are PLAIN JUNK (I think FAKES) I have 3 different burners and they all burn GREAT as long as I use Verbs.

There is no way that you can read the inner hub. They don't even feel like real Taiyo Yuden discs. They are quite light and they experience the same problems as above???? I really got taken with this order...DO NOT BUY FROM SURPLUS COMPUTER STORES.

I tried, however they said they only will replace disc for disc. Like I said don't trade with that company .. You get what you pay for!!! These were cheap ($22.95 per 100) I learned??? The hard way. I even put price on the TY web several weeks ago. I hope no-one else ordered from them!!!!! Thanks Rob & guys

thanks greensman.
i'll do what you recommend and see what gives. however there is
no coster with the verbatim or the OD +r media though. i really dont think its the burner because they dont have high count on them.
well, i will try to see if i can post a Nero scan.

@jene,
If you know for sure that you got fakes the company should back up some kind of policy. What about trading the discs for some other brand?? I'm not saying that a call to the BBB would make a difference but that's BS that you got fakes and they won't make amends. :)
Please make sure that you indeed did get fakes before you send them back or do anything "legal" at this point. What does DVD InfoPro indicate or DVD Identifier for that matter? Just covering all bases at this point. :)
....gm
edit:
jene forgot to add:: what is the link to the online store that you got those discs from?? I wanted to see if I could find anything that indicated a return policy and see the ID they give for the discs that you purchased...:)

Ok found something that is interesting if nothing else. Take a look at this and see what you make of it. :)
Quote: Discrepancies or Wrong Product Received: All discrepancies or wrong product received must be brought to the attention of Surplus Computers within 10 days of receipt of product. Please notify us of ANY discrepancies or wrong product received via email at websales@surpluscomputers.com
Shipping Policies: Shipping fees and/or return shipping costs are Non-Refundable.
When did you receive these discs??
Quote: Refund and Exchange Policies: All sales are final with exchanges given only for identical product. If identical product is not available an exchange for similar product or store credit will be given. Shipping fees and/or return shipping costs are Non-Refundable. Software is not returnable even if it is unopened BUT is exchangeable for the EXACT product only. Return shipping costs after 30 days for any defective merchandise will be the sole responsibility of the customer.
You may be able to get around their "return" policy with these 2 quotes. I don't know and I'm not a lawyer and please don't ask me what I think about them. LOL. Seriously you have received something different then what they said your were gonna get. PLEASE make sure (again sorry) that you didn't get the TY's and that the invoice INDICATED you were getting TY's. If not you may be SOL. sorry!!

Yujenh ok a couple things that may help .first i have used the Riteks before with my PX-716As and didn't have very good luck with them. so def stick with the TYs or Verbatims. and the Valueline should be fine i used 1000s of them BUT i get all of them at supermediastore.com thats your best place to get them. there is a firmware update for the PX-716A also its the 1.11 version check Plextors website for the update. which version of Nero are you using? make sure its updated. also make sure your burning on a clean machine without other programs running
