@MichaelP1
Seems I was just lucky. The only CMC Mags I have are probably only 50(1 stack) that I used before I was enlightened. The Rest of the Memorex's code out as Ricohjpn-R01-002, as do the Sonys in the early group.Actually good media in itself. I really lucked out and got a stack of a hundred TDKs that were TY +R T02s for $18. And since those, nothing but TYs and Verbs.

Sickley, they will code out fine you won't have to worry
Supermediastore.com should always be you're first choice then meritline.com

Damn! This is what happens...I have bought 200 CD-R Yuden brand from supermediastore. However, I am having trouble booting them with my PS2 console. Whenever I play game, I have to boot my system twice or even more to make the PS2 recognize something like oh this is the disc you should read...
Is it the problem with Yuden Disc or backup game disc or some other problems? When I boot my backup PS2 game(ritek brand), it works fine. It is just like one time booting without resetting it. And the original PSX games work fine too. What's the problem?

I'm not a gamer so can't help too much on backing them up but if you're using the same method/way as you use for the Ritek's then I would tend to think it's the Taiyo's being picky w/ the PS2.
Different dye is used in CD's and I'm not sure if the dye used in Taiyo's is different from the Ritek's - I think it is but a member here JoeRyan would be the perfect one to answer that.
Maybe he'll pop in.
Try taking the burn speed down a notch on the Taiyo's and see if that helps.
I use Taiyo for audio and text and good on my end but haven't tried them in my kids ps2's.

There could be a number of reasons why the TY media do not work: 1) the recording drive is not recording well (Binkie's suggestion of slowing down makes sense because TY uses cyanine dye in its CD-Rs, and they work better at slower speeds than at fast speeds); 2) the groove geometry on the discs is not an ideal match for the PS2; 3) the PS2 drive is not properly aligned; 4) the recording drive is not properly aligned; or 5) both drives are aligned within specification, but at the opposite ends of a critical spec so that the tolerance is just on the edge of the specification. Ritek CD-Rs use phthalocyanine dye which uses a short write strategy and reacts to laser power quickly enough to allow recording speeds as fast as 52X. Since the Ritek media work and the TY do not, the best solution is to stick with the Ritek for recordings you want played on the PS2. (What you don't want to do is claim that TY or any other brand is poor quality simply because it does not work. It's usually a bit more complicated than that!)
Use the Ritek for the PS2 and save the TY for audio or data recordings. I doubt that there is anything wrong with either.

JoeRyan you never cease to amaze me. GREAT post buddy and thanks for educating us as binkie7 said.
@Jinkazuya,
As JoeRyan said use the Riteks. I waited for him to reply because he does have an enormous knowledge of media and how it works. :) I have used both media and the Riteks work better for me as well. It has to be as JoeRyan said: Write strategy and speed.
Great questions and helpful answers as always in this thread. :)

hiya binkie! how have things been for you? good i hope!
i'm a bit under the weather right now since it's been scorchin' hot lately here in CA...recovering from a cold that has basically delayed any efforts of mine in completing my new build...
i suppose if i prescribe myself a few more TYs, i should recover quickly LOL.
my "media" days are all but long gone, but i'm glad to see that people are using my thread to help one another regardless if it has any relations to TYs :)
i also appreciate the fact that JoeRyan is finally gaining the respect he rightly deserves for his wealth of knowledge in media that he offers on here...was it not I who came to his defense early on when he first started contributing, despite people having their noses so high up in the air and turning a cold shoulder to his technically detailed posts? :)
it's about time, at least here in the dvd media forums, that people are seeing what valuable advice JoeRyan brings to the table...
i will be droppin' by every now and then, just to say hello, but as everyone can clearly see, there are many "more-than-capable" members here to pick up where i left off~ good day to everyone~
