@arniebear,

Have a good one buddy. Hopefully when you get back I'll have my new system up n runnin and we can compare notes. My new P4 northwood core 3.4 ghz cpu was defective and I had to rma it. I sent my new mobo into asus also to let them check it out just to be doubly sure. No word on the mobo yet but the cpu was defective and they are sending me a replacement. Have fun my friend.

@arniebear

have a great vacation my friend, i really hope you enjoy yourself, been quite awhile since i've had a vacation myself..that sounds pretty good right about now~ :)

@mort81

hey buddy, guess it WAS a defective CPU huh? best of luck w/ the RMA depts. for both your mobo and cpu, i'm sure it will be a screamer once you get all your parts in...i just realized for my Intel Extreme Edition setup that i built up last week, that my ANTEC power supply (which was included in the Antec Sonata II case i bought, the 450w smartpower is INDEED defective, it will POST/BOOT, but the fan does not spin...getting an RMA number right now as we speak for a new PSU. :) all these problems with computers, i got my AMD rig up and going though, so, pretty pleased with that...

anyways, hope they will be quick w/ ur RMAs...i know u've been waiting for all the WORKING parts to come in...have a good one.

Hiya Ken,

The outfit I got my cpu from said the cpu was defective and they were sending me a replacement going out either late last friday or monday morning. That was the rma I was concerned about (cpu costs much more than the mobo).

I'm a little frustrated with asus. They recieved the mobo before the company I got my cpu from recieved the cpu and all they will tell me is they should know something by the 24th. Asus may make good mobo's but their service sucks.

It should be a good little above average fairly fast set up when I'm all done but no comparison to that high end AMD dual core set up you just put togather. Good day to all.

Long time, no chat, Doc...

I'm an inkjet printable man, and I was getting down to a couple of hundred discs left and saw these:

http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-white-inkjet-hub-printable...

I usually get these:

http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-8x-dvd-plus-r-media-white-...

or these:

http://supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-white-inkjet-printable-8x-...

I've read many threads regarding the 4X shiny silver value discs (and people lucking out with usually 8X or 16X), but I haven't found a post concerning the TY 8X inkjet printable value line.

I am going to order 300 of the value printables and let everyone know how it goes... I figure that it will be similar to the 4X value offer, and I'll either get TYG02 or TYG03 (whichever is in abundance in the warehouse at the time...), but I will definitely let you guys know the outcome.

I figured "What better place to post this" than the Official docTY Taiyo Yuden thread!!!

man,i'm so tired of this slowdown during scanning with my 1650 for verb dvd-r's

this seems to affect my writing quality as well,since that is where my pie spike and jitter spike is... Anyone know more about this and what benq is doing about it?

cincyrob, thoses Verbatims are top notch media ,your good to go .they rate as good as Taiyo Yuden with most members here the 16x are just as good as the 8x etc. BUT i wouldnt recomend burning them at 16x just go 8x max. burning and if the 8x are less expensive i would def. go with them next time to save a few bucks

16x discs are fine for movie backups, they tend to produce very mixed results with the PS2. I always advise using 4x or 8x TY's or Verb's for the PS2.

Hey doc im very interested in ty's now that verbaitium has switched to 16x dvd's they dont boot in my ps2 anymore. Just wondering your opinion, I have a pioneer DVR-108 with the latest firmware. I have good results with memorex and the old 8x verbaintum but i backedup my copy of kingdom hearts II and it reads slow. dont know what the problem is but im hoping some ty's would help. Also what speed should i burn at?

I've backed up 220 PS2 games to TYG02/Yuden000T02 with zero coasters. Either of the 8x Taiyo Yuden (DVD+R or -R) formats will work fine.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?

Get the Digital Movie Verbatim discs .. you know, the ones that look like a movie reel .. they still are 4x discs that are MCC002 ... If you want to burn game discs really slooooow, these are the ONLY discs that will burn well at 1x or 2x nowadays ...

The latest AnyDVD (5.9.5.6) & CloneDVD easily handles Hostel. What problem or error did you have?
Can't help on the ps2 but I'm sure Tokijin can.

@Cincyrob
Check out Tokijin's signature line,
there are two links that interest you, the second is the important one, you will need a mod chip to play backedup games, or some sort of memory exploit, read his guides, he is very thourough.

Being only a lasered code, why is the inner hub reading the landmark for genuine TY media?

I am guessing that the cheap, cloning manufacturers don't want to incur the extra expense for the equipment, and I am sure that there are legal reasons as well...

EDIT for clarification: The media ID, TYG02, for example, is really just a write strategy for the burners to recognize and properly write to the disc. The laser inscription is probably patented or copyrighted. Remember, they are making their money by selling these discs with the borrowed media code(s) through legitimate channels and not on the black market...

EDIT for humor/analogy: Take Michael Jordan and Nike for instance... They could sue you for using the moniker "AIR," but they can't stop you from trying to imitate his dunks while wagging your tongue and wearing extra long shorts.
