Seabreeze, or any other skin astringent will work, basically strips oils from your wife/girlfriend/significant other etc.'s skin. Really loosens up the paper and adhesive on the paper label, soak for about 20 seconds, scrape off with a fingernail, rinse off with warm water, dry with a soft lint free towel. No more label, no more skipping.

blivetNC- Yes Brilliant indeed !
It seems that the local grocery is a veritable feast of things to care for our Media ! seabreeze to remove labels that we should'nt have put on our disc in the first place but we've all done it atlaest once! and Brasso metal polish to polish away those horrid scratches that make our originals skip & jump ect. ! I applauded Doc Ty for the seabreeze Idea But he did give credit where it was due - He said he laerned that lil' recipe from you ! so Thanks for the Tip blivetNC I'll have to look for some ( SEABREEZE ) next time I'm out & ABout ! Good luck & happy Burning !

Doc: You mentioned a Benq to label DVDs. I want something that will label dvds, hopefully with graphics and that can be used on Tys 8X would the Benq lightscribe be right and is it independent or plugged into your compputer. I am completely at sea and need some basic advice and information before going out to purchase something. Someone else reported using an Epson 200 or 300 series. What is the difference in these machines? Will appreciate your experienced help, but make the explanation basic as I am not very sophisticated. Thanks, Bernard

Quote: I am going to order 300 of the value printables and let everyone know how it goes... I figure that it will be similar to the 4X value offer, and I'll either get TYG02 or TYG03 (whichever is in abundance in the warehouse at the time...), but I will definitely let you guys know the outcome.
Received these today. I received: 1 spindle hub ID GG000077 and 2 spindles GG000106. I actually prefer these 8X over 16X anyway. The last few hundred 8X DVD-R inkjet printables that were not the value line that I ordered were GG000123.
EDIT: Maybe the good DocTY can find out how many discs comprise a batch for us... I'll scan a couple after I do a few burns this evening.

I figured as much. I am sure that they are excellent quality, but I knew someone would ask about the "value" vs. "regular," as far as inkjet printables go, before too long. Just nipping it in the bud with a post with various keywords so that it should be VERY easy to find should someone do a search.

Sounds like you got the real deal. Look for the code on the inner hub to be sure.
For those it will be something like TG00xxx (x's will be #'s for batch #)
The disc you received are rated at 8x but can be overburned to 16x.

I am sure this topic has been discussed but I have no time to read through 52 pages of posts. Can someone help me understand why the my Sony disks make better copys than the Taiyo's both of which make terrible burns, according to Nero Disk Quality test. My Taiyo's are MID TYG03's, they also have a number near the center hole that is GH000073. I have read many things about about the TY's so I am confused! I use these programs DVDFAB, DVDshrink, VOBblanker, and DVDdecrypter. I don't have any space on the net to store results so I can't post a pic. Can some one tell how to do a CRC test? Sorry for my ingnorance but I am trying to learn. Any info would be great!
Thanks

how fast are you burning the TY media? go 8x max. for best results
what kind of drive are you burning with? ,drives sometimes are picky with the blank media they like . in your case they may like the Sony media better

@diggidy - without being too rude it's extremely simple to find any info at all, especially round here as a lot of regulars provide endless info for stuff like this. For example i just googled for "afterdawn crc dvdinfopro creaky" and the first seasrch result was this - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/207047 and the 'first link' referred to in the thread has changed since that was written and in fact points to this one here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/193298 which is coincidentally the second result from the search.
as to posting pics there are various sites that provide free hosting of pics such as photobucket, imageshack etc.
But to be honest, searching is easy and should be mandatory as everything anyone ever needs to know about most things is a mere few clicks away; if i can understand this stuff, anyone can :)

congrats buddy catfreak~ :) welcome to the club~
@teflonmyk
those seem to be pretty darn good if u ask me, as to the "batch coding" quantity...will get back to you shortly once i find out FOR SURE, don't want to be spreading rumors round here ya know? :)
it was asked a couple dozen pages back if i could start a "batch coding" system to determine which ones were "good" and which ones were "less than good"..but, as you can imagine, that would take a LOT of time and a lot of work would have to go into it (as well as more work for you guys to report which ones you got and how they fared with your setup) :)
thanks for letting us know that you got the TYG02s in the inkjet printables...so far so good...keep up the good work...
@sentagram
you got the real deal as binkie concluded...no worries~ :) she's RIGHT on the money with that assessment~ :)
@all
does seem like everyone and their mom's are subscribed to this thread huh? LOL...it's a good thing, we can have MANY points of views and a lotta good info to share, most of the "regulars" in the media forum stop by here...so, it's beneficial for all~ cheers all

I have a question which I might already know the answer to, but just for confirmation. I have MIJ Sonys DVD+R 8x, and some Verbatims DVD+R 16x, after burning the same project, at the same speed, and then testing them same speed yet again. I look over the scans and see that the Verbs are scoring way better than the TYs, so my question is why? I mean I'm buring them the same, and all so what's the deal TYs are the best no?

That could be contributed to a number of things: the model of your burner, firmware version, burning speed, etc... On my burners (LiteOn 1693SX, LG 5163D, Pioneer 109) with the current firmwares that I have on them, the TYs and Verbs score neck and neck in the + format (slight edge to TY)... They score even more closely with modified KC4B LiteOn firmware. I also mainly use 8X +R TYs and 16X +R Verbs. I burn both at 8X... I have various scans on the Blog section of my Profile page...
EDIT: What model burner do you have?

Used to be 2500 .. but they changed the rules in the middle of the game for me ... now 'Safety Valve' posts don't count (so I'm gonna stay the heck outta there!) ... makes me feel like I'm getting IT in the old brown eye
