oh tsk tsk anubis, you need to know more about processors thermal properties.
The powerPC processors have a 3.2 GHZ clockspeed but they have a shorter pipeline stages (so i saw) than the P4's (31 stage) pipeline.
so each core makes less heat per clock.
i dont know the core voltage of each core as i havent found anything yet that states it.
the processor(s) are quite good really. they are hot because of the small poor conducted 360's metal case (inside the asthetical plastic cover). metal conducts heat well as we all know, so that makes the problem a little worse.
if you took the same processor(s) and put it in a desktop PC (**IF** you could) with a good ol arctic cooling pro it would be very cool.
much cooler than most standard LGA 775 P4's or socket 478 prescott processors.
the pipelane stages of a processor can tell a lot about it.
thats why i think ALL processor reviwes/spec sheets should state the pipeline stages that the processor has.
anubis please stop with your clear lack of knowledge comments.
certain comments can only be said if you have the knowledge to back them up, or explain them. if you cannot, simply avoid it.
i have done it before (certainly not if its about tech though) on different topics. just talk about the same thing but refering to different points. works a charm.
stop leaning to the PS3 so much. (Didnt use the B* word), hehe.
im sure we all have done that at least once.
Don't judge the consoles by specs, more isnt always better, espec in PS3 specs.i know the truth, ask if u wanna know.......
Do not compete without valid correct technicality on your terms of the argument.

you are really ignorant, seriously. you really dont know much. and i dont have to explain what every god damned thing some people here are smart enuf. either way its hot and can only get hotter. each core puts out the same amount of heat, and with 3 working thats gunna be effing blazing.

Ha ha. Sorry but I find that extememly hard to believe. I come out with a comment from a magazine about the 360 prossesor and the new Direct X 10 and anubis thinks its good to add another unsupported negative on the 360, quite unsuprising I have to say. It seems like Microsoft have made a console that will melt as soon as developes will use all the cores accourding to anubis's word, so this multi billion dollar company that have spent 3 years developing the console with a very well experianced team/ highly paid team after all that time and experiance make somthing that will not work or get so hot it will be unusable.
So moving along. There is some good article I found in this magazine as soon as I have the time I will post it.
Kookoo you read my post wrong. go back and have another little glance.

I know this might sound dumb, what is the reason that the game developers can't seem to develope games to use a systems full power. If I am not mistaken didn't they have the same probs with playstation and xbox the first time auround, and if you can't make a game to take advantage of all the power of these systems ...why do we need so much power to play games that don't need it.

It will take a few years for developers to take full advantage of the system because they have to get use to developing for that system. Actually developers have taken about full advantage of the ps2 with games like gt4 and god of war.
ps3 with 20gb hard drive
xbox 360 premium edtion with vga/hd hook up to my dell 20.1 inch widescreen lcd.
White and black 1.5 psp's
I'll take this down WHEN micro$oft decides to stop being lazy and make the capcom fighting games backwards compatible with the 360 dammit!!!

its nothing to do with getting used to the system.
its all about threads UHALL.
current games for all consoles/pc's are and have only been single threaded ones.
so if you are a hard core PC gamer, dont get a dual core one, as the fast single corez ones can still wup their ass in single threaded apps, Like games for e.g.
e.g. a FX-57 can totally pwn a 4800+ dual core in games.
and anubis, you are accusing ME of being ignorant, that is the most hypocritical thing that you have ever said.
think about it. i think zelda chuckles with all your hyprocracy.
the 360 isnt overly hot, I HAVE GOT ONE, HAVE YOU!! (if not you shouldnt be the one to judge), had it on for 8 hours straight, sure you could cook toast on the back vent but at least thats the heat LEAVING the system. and it never has any problems related to the heat. seesh

There are dual processors now that beat xbox360's threecored processor, and beat ps3 cell. And it has less threads.
What ever happened to
-processor type?
-memory?
-architecture?
-floating point performance?
-benchin?
-resolutions?
-Speed?

floating point performance is a type of measurement, kookoo. How well the processor is determines it's floating point performance. Not the other way around.

i think ps3 will be better in some part, but not that better than xbox 360. we have to wait until sony launch the ps3 and then we compare which consoles are better.

ok as in today february 10th 2k6 i mudearies predict that a the end of this new geenration (ps3,xbox360,revo) ps3 will sell more units than xbox 360 and revo combined worldwide if for some reason that doesnt happend you can say to me i was wrong 6 years from now ,so remeber i mudearies preditc the ps3 will sell more units than xbox 360 and revo combined at the end of the generation.

Gathering my information from the past and present day information I believe the PS3 will sell the most but not by the 360 and Rev combined. Lets just say the PS3 sells 80 million units, the 360 will sell 60 million in comparison and the revolution will be around 15 million.
This is all usles infromtaion and just speculation so its not worth taking to note just like mudearies post.

well i have to disagree there as i think the rev is not exactly in the race its more just a thing on the side that people will want weather they have a ps3 or xbox 360, if the rev can deliver everything it has promised then i think it will do well.
so i think it will be ps3, 70 mill only b/c most the ps3 fans seem to really believe that ps3 will have killzone graphics from day one and i think when it comes out they will be dissapointed, personally i am not saying that the ps3 will be crap all i am saying is that they will be more shocked than me or you about this as they are expecting killzone graphics. and when i show these ps3 fanboys at my college what gears of war looks like they say its just a trailer and not actualy gameplay so i think when games like gears of war do come out they will be shocked twice now and might change their mind on what console to buy.
i think the xbox 360 will have sold something like 50 mill only b/c of of its early release and games that are coming out for 2006/2007.
i think that the rev will sell somthing like 50 mill, mainly just b/c its bringing all the old games back into the market, it will have online mode, it has a different controller, and if they can sell it for as cheap as possible then i believ it will sell. i for one will deffinatly be buying it. oh and super smash bros online should help it aswell.

I have proof off the website www.gametrailers.com that Gears of War is real time and best of all the graphics are as good, if not better than the Pictures you have seen.

before you tell us to back off you should know that we have been on this thread for a while now (my name before was fazyninja) and know all of eachother quite well now, when we say somehting, or critisize another person we just take it as a comment and answer back. we know the ps3 is not out and that you can not say which is better, but what we are doing is just comparing each of their good points.
if there is a forum here on ps3 vs xbox 360 and know one is allowd to talk about it then whats the point it being here.
