My advice would be to reduce your compression as much as possible, remove audio and subtitles, backup just the episodes without the menus or special features. If compression is still high, use the Deep Analysis function and set your AEC to Maximun Smooth. Don't burn at more than 4X, don't use adhesive labels and use quality blanks for your backup.

Hello, I've been having a problem backing-up this one specific TV series disc. I've tried about 3 different discs and at first, I thought it was the computer. But I have since bought a new computer, and it still fails at the exact same spot.
DVD Decrypter and Shrink both fail, with the former consistently failing at 63%. I've tried ScubaPete's methods, but to no avail.
Here's the log

skyinz77,
Try cleaning the disk real well. It could be bad scratches. You are not supposed to talk about Cracked Games as that is against forum rules.

You need to decrypt the files. Do a Google search for "Games decryption"

I had the same problem with the "cyclic redundency check". I don't know if anyone has replied with this suggestion but i recovered my disc with a proggie called "CD Check". I ran the disc through "recover" mode and it turned out a peach. It did take over 10 hours though, but it was well worth it. I can hardly notice where the errors were.
Hope this helps someone.

You all have the wrong idea. The problem is a new type of DVD protection, the DVD maker purposely put bad info on the DVD. Its like a built in scratch if you'd like to think of it that way. NOTHING you can do physically to the dvd can fix it. The freeware program DVD43 is a program that runs in the background alongside with DVD Shrink. Many have had success with it. I have had some problems with it, and you may too if you have any virtual CD/DVD drives. Aside from that, We'll wait until
the perfect program comes along, I'm working on it.

There once was a time when a CRC could only be interpreted as a scratch, dirty disc or bad press...however the movie industry's attempt to be clever has yeilded new protection which embeds bad sectors/cells into the structure of the DVD...so if you are getting CRC errors on a new movie that is known to be protected by ArcosS, Riplock, Puppetlock, etc., then the source of your CRC woes probably is the method of protection being used.

I would never recommend as quirky a program as DVD43, if you want to try a proggy that is updated frequently and doesn't cause conflicts on a system, then give DVDFab Decrypter a try...it too is free, and when combined with a program like VobBlanker or Pgcedit, can rip through about any protection out there.

For those of you that are reading this forum strictly for the thread topic. Keep in mind that DVDFAB and many others may be freeware, but many of them WILL NOT bypasses the current error. Many have mentioned Decrypters. An encryption would imply that there is a CODE or FORMAT on the disc that causes an error or inability to copy all or specific files on the DVDs. The cyclic redundancy error is a fancy way of saying it CAN'T READ the information on the disc. NOT that the information is encrypted ( in a language it doesn't understand ). You should first try to clean the disc to eliminate the possibility that it can't read through a spec of dust over the information. A scratch can also make it so information on the disk can't be read. If you are certain that its not the surface of the disk. It may be a build in "scratch" under the surface. It cannot be removed only bypassed. Try looking for a program that advertises to eliminate this problem.
Remember its not an encryption, so quit trying new and updated encryptions.
Technical Explanation:
Cyclic Redundancy : an error that occurs when the Disc is spinned over the same information repeatedly. Occurs as an attempt to read information that is corrupt, or unreadable.
Solution: a program that has a built in number of sweeps over bad information, and then moves on to "readable" information.

After Thought : there is a ignore read error on some new programs, but don't use it all the time. If there is a scratch or something wrong with the surface. You want to get an error or message. So you can try to clean the disc. If you don't, you can wind up with a crappy copy.

Your error log had the following entry: Drive D:\ (FAT32) does not support single files > 4 GB.
You may want to save everything on that drive and convert it NTSF. FAT32 is an older file system and might be at least a part of your problem since that is where you are trying to store the files.
Just out of curiosity, is that a drive you pulled out of an older machine and installed in a newer one? If so, you may want to run a battery of checks on it and do what repairs can be done if it is old & running out of life.

Hey there Car-Mike, how's it going ? (:D)
@Deedees25,
As has been said, a CRC used to be about dirty discs BUT, besides the newer encryptions, there are so very many different discs coming on the market, it could be that you're using a discs your drive isn't setup for - Try updating your Firmware OR trying another Mfgrs. disc.
Even poor quality media can result in a CRC error. You can never go wrong using a decent quality disc.
Cheers,

Yeah VobBlanker works,
It seems to be a copy protection. For example, "Crash" DVD was first ripped with DVD Decrypter. Then use VobBlanker on VIDEO_TS folder. After that continue with DVD Shrink etc.

Hello everyone. I apologize if this has already been mentioned. I have encountered this same CRC error with Nip/Tuck Season 2: Disc 3. Everything was successfully ripped using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4 onto my HD with no errors. However, when I tried shrinking it with DVD Shrink the CRC error came up. I also tried moving the files from this HD to another, and this CRC error came up again. Obviously, the problem cannot be in the disc itself, seeing as it was ripped successfully onto my HD with no errors. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi there imateapot,
You don't say when you get your CRC error while using DVD Shrink. It would be my guess that all goes along well enough until you get ready to burn and then you sea your CRC error.
Again, this is telling you that the disc you're trying to use is:
1. a Dirty disc (Clean disc)
2. a Scratched disc (use something such as Skip Doctor to remove scratches)
3. a Poor quality media like Memorex. Change Mfgrs and use a better quality media such as Verbatim.
4. as it rarely happens, I've listed this last. Try using some canned air OR a DVD laser cleaning disc to remove any dust or dirt from the burner's laser.
I hope this helps,

Hi. Thanks for your reply. Like I said, I was able to rip everything off the DVD successfully onto my HD, so I don't believe the problem is with the disc. The problem comes whenever I take those files and try shrinking them in DVDShrink, and the same problem occurs when I try to move them to a Flashdrive or another HD. I did find that it was a particular piece that wouldn't transfer, and that is VTS_01_05.VOB or something to that effect. Thanks again for all your help.

I opened a thread in DVD-Authoring with many thanks to the Scuba's. Don't know if you guys visit that forum or not, but I will re-iterate my props for the boys. I will also say this:
STOP USING LABELS, IF YOU STILL USE THEM> REMOVE THEM!!!!
Not one disc gets a CRC since I've removed them. I didn't want to listen to them, because I really wanted to keep the labels, (because the discs look so nice). What a mistake. Did I mention?
DON'T USE LABELS!!!
