hey guys,
I'm using mkv2vob software and I experience something strange - when I start it on my AMD64 based PC the CPU usage is 90-96% thats normal when it is transcoding. the funny part is when I use it on my core2duo based PC it uses exactly 50% of my CPU usage. That makes me think that this app is not using both of my processors, is that true? and is there any similar app that can use the full capacity of my core2duo? thanks in advance for the help :)

I have a question. I've seen this addressed somewhere else on this forum and can't find it now. Most of the MKV files I get are not normal resolutions. Lets say I download a 720 mkv the actual resoulution is 1280x688 or 1920x800 or something like. With a little experimenting and reading this thread I have figured out that when you output to bluray you get a green bar across the bottom of the screen. Is there anyway I can upscale to the proper resolution? I don't want that green bar on my AVCHD discs.
Nevermind I found the post.

There is a couple ways this can be done. Make sure you use this method for the best results.

Is there any way to slightly compress the MKV file before the convesion ? It's usually only 300-400 MB we're talking about here.Appreicate the help
I find cutting the credits at the end can sometimes get you just under...you can use the cutting feature of TsMuxer to do this...

Hey everyone, I've been following and reading this thread for a few days now. I've used the instructions Ryu77 posted, but my problem is that I get the video but no audio is available. Although I used tsMuxerGUI to make a .M2TS file out of the 4.1 level video .H264 file and the .AC3 file.
If you need more information let me know.
PS: Ryu77 could you let me know if you've gotten my PM?
thanks

No audio at all, through your tv and your surround sound unit? Does the audio play on your computer?
FYI, Ryu lives on the other side of the world, he's probably just rolling out of bed right now.

Yes, I did. Please excuse my delay in replying.
I was initially going to ask if you had selected Dolby Digital as your audio track but you have now specified that you have.
This is strange. Can I ask, is your source from a Blu-ray disc or are you working with a downloaded media file?

The .mkv file is created by a group of people who use Blu-ray discs, either the disc itself or the download file (Blu-ray size ofcourse). So I'm working with a downloaded media file, the people who convert from blu-ray to mkv know what they are doing so I don't think it's a problem there.
I'm from Belgium btw so I don't know the difference in time between us, but there's no rush in getting this fixed :-).

Hello ya'll...
I finally got a "successful" back up of one of my BR movies to play on my PS3!!!
Took me years but got it to finally work.
I have a question though... when I use RipBot264 it eats up 100% processor and takes around 24-34 hours to do its thing. That?s a long time!!!
Here are settings I use and system config.
System:
Intel Core 2 DUO 1.86 4 GB RAM 750GB 72k RPM HD (Also tried on a P4-HT 3.0 2GB RAM and it took twice as long)
RipBot264 Config:
File 17.7GB (m2ts file)
1. Save As: Blue-Ray Disc
2. Lock Size: 8150
3. Codec Settings: P4X4, B-Pyramid, Buffer Size 30000 Max Bitrate 40000 (Also tried default settings)
4. Mode: 2-pass
5. KBPS: 024
6. Audio Profile: x.x COPY STREAM
Thanks in advance!

I muxed an LPCM and h264 into a m2ts. The PS3 recognized it (press the select button to see the stream info and it shows LPCM) but no sound.
When I start to playback, at any point during the movie, I hear a "zap" sound then silence while the video continues. At the same time I can see the audio bitrate begin at 1.5 Mb/s but it quickly drops to 650 kbps.
Seems as though the PS3 is choking on the audio stream.
Anyone have any similar success or failure with LPCM on the PS3?

TVersity does but you need to rename the file from m2ts to m2t. Like I said before, I use Cyberlink... I haven't had any issues with it so I haven't had the need to use others.
Try googling or doing a little reasearch. Nero has a good streamer, Windows Media Player does as well... just to name a couple.

I need some guidance. I have an HD video with the following settings, pulled from AVIcodec:
File : 4.35 GB (1.98 GB), duration: 1:45:48, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 84 %, VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 (build 2540/release),
Video : 1.42 GB, 1931 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 1280*720 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Supported
Audio : 570 MB, 754 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 5 channels, 0x2001 = AC3 DTS, CBR, , Supported
How do I get this to play in my PS3? So, far, I've only gotten HD MKV's to work on the PS3. Thanks
RIP.BURN.ENJOY :)

hey guys
i'm doing reencodes using megui and avisynth scripts to create avchds
i just have this question, over in doom9.org forums they have a guide
this is one of the steps
Quote: If the source is cropped and you want to resize it down to 720p from lets say 1080p then you would use the following for line 2. Note: that the 528 was the original size determined by looking at the mkv with mediainfo in step 2. and the borders were calculated using step 2 fomula.
Code:
Lanczos4Resize(1280,528).addborders(0,96,0,96)
I don't quite understand what to do.
Let's say I have a video with 1920x800 resolution
What exactly do I add to the script?

I am not sure about whether Lanczos4Resize is needed. I have made a lot of AVCHD discs successfully without doing that. But the AddBorders is critical otherwise you will get green bars. Here is how the add borders work -
For 1080p videos, the resolution of the resulting file must be 1920x1080. So in your case, you need 280 (1080-800) add'l lines for the vertical side. Divide the 280 by 2 gets you 140, which is what you want to add to each side (top and bottom). So you need to do:
AddBorders(0,140,0,140)
The zero's are for the horizontal lines (1920). Since they are perfect, you don't need to add any borders there.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I get that much, I understand what the borders are for.
But this guy's guide, that last part is so retarded it doesn't make any sense.
My situation is wanting to compensate for the borders required (1080-800 / 2) and resizing from 1080 to 720.

Since Blu-Ray compliant resolution call for either 1280x720 or in your case 1920x1080, you need to add 280 horizontal lines, 140 on the top and bottom. Your script should look like this;
First use the MeGUI AviSynth Script Creator located in the tools menu.
1. Load your mkv.
2. Make sure the resize check box is checked (ignore the default size, 640,272)
3. Go to the "Edit" tab
4. Immediatly below the DirectShowSource() line add this;
AddBorders(0,140,0,140)
5. Change the LanczosResize to (1920,1080)
6. Save
Once you save you might get a warning message saying something about mod16, ignore this. If a preview screen pops up of your movie (with black bars) you did everything correct.
Now continue with configuring the output file type and file size/bitrate, take into consideration the audio file size and allow for the Blu-Ray structure header (approx 7% of a DVD9, 570mb).

so this is what it should look like:

AddBorders(0,140,0,140)
Lanczos4Resize(1280,720)

Not quite, the AddBorders comment in my previous post was for a 1920x1080 movie, your looks like 1280x720.
Heres how to calculate the amount of lines needed.
720-528=192 diveded by 2 = 96 (top and bottom).
Your add borders script should look like this.
AddBorders(0,96,0,96). Everything else looks fine.

I'm sorry, i'm confusing you.
I'm working with a video of resolution 1920x800, ignore the "fountain.720p".
I want to add borders to compensate for the difference between 1080 and 800.
Then I want to resize down to 720.
Do I even have to add the borders? Can't I just resize it to 1280x720 from 1920x800?

Hmmm? I've never had the need to go down from 1080 to 720, DVD9's hold a 1080p resolution well.
Looks like the original movie has an aspect ratio of 2.4:1, so you will need to add borders to keep that ratio. So...
DirectShowSource(C:\...1920x800....mkv,fps=23.976,audio=false)
AddBorders(0,96,0,96)
LancszosResize(1280,720)
Just make sure the preview looks fine.
