Thanks
Thumpy, please remove the name of the movie. We can't help you if it involves piracy. A dual layer disc is limited to 8152MB. The rest of the space is used up for headers. Just like a 500GB Hard Drive becomes 465GB.

When someone rips a Blu-ray and crops the borders the pixel aspect ratio remains the same. All that happens is that the black borders have simply been chopped off to conserve extra bits. I guess they don't realise how little bits the borders actually use. They are all black! Reference frames and B-frames will be so efficient at encoding these black borders that it would use up next to no data at all.

Anyway, to help you with adding borders. You will need to work out what the resolution of your MKV is and then minus that from the target resolution. For example, if your MKV is 1280 x 528. Your target for Blu-ray compliancy will be 1280 x 720. So 720 - 528 = 192. 192 / 2 = 96. So you will need to add 96 lines to the top and the bottom of your video.

Thank you Obi Wan ...
I'll let you know how this worked out for me ...

Hi, I just have a few problems with the tsMuxeR. When I add the file, it usually pops a box that says some tracks are not recognized and are ignored and it usually ends with the file destination. I don't know how to fix it as this message continuallly pops up. Anyways, I tried to ignore that and continue on. After the muxing, it ended up with 2 files. the Mt2s(don't remember what it's called) file and a file type META. I tried it on the ps3, the video and subtitles work flawlessly, but there's absolutely no sound. My question is....can you help me?

If all else fails, I could try to go back to MKV2VOB, but the process takes forever and it converts a 300mb file to an 800mb file and I don't have room on my computer. Is there any way to compress the file so it doesn't make it 3 times as big?

There is a problem that driving me crazy.
i'm using tsMuxer to create BD structure for a TV show with 1280X720 resolution to watch it on my PS3.
I also adding an Hebrew srt subtitle file.

now, from some reason the subtitle is not seen in PS3.
there were 11 chanpters for this TV show, for chapter 8,9,10 i was able to see the subtitles but for the others i could not.
i tried to figure the differences between the chapters and i couldn't find one.
what can be the reason?

No need to go back to mkv2vob. The problem most likely is that your audio format isn't accepted by tsMuxer. (That's why you keep getting the "Some tracks not recognized" message.)

I'd suggest demuxing your .mkv using MKVExtract, and then converting the resultant audio stream to something that PS3'll recognize (like .ac3) using a program like BeSweet or eac3to(?). Once that's done, you can add your new audio file into tsMuxer.

This is a stretch, but do the subtitles for 1-7 work on your computer?

It might be a timing issue... or it might be that those episodes don't have a Blu-Ray compliant video resolution. Have you made sure that the resolution on those are exactly 1280 x 720?

You could also try asking this in the Subtitles section.

yes, on my computer it worked without any problem.

the reolution is indeed 1280X720(Media Info and tsMuxer) and beside i didn't notice any green bar.

Well, in that case, I have absolutely no idea. I've never tried non-Greek characters in my subtitles before, so I'm at a loss here.

I suppose if you absolutely must have them, you could hardsub them into the video. That'd take forever and a half, but it's always an option.

But yeah, I'm drawing a blank. Hopefully, Ryu or odin'll know a bit more about this.

Are you using one large video file with 11 chapters, or 11 separate videos appended together. If the latter you will most certainly have issues with subs. I suggest, if you have several video files, create a Blu-ray structure for each file with it's own subs, and view them on a USB stick using the AVCHD-ME applicaiton. Also, it could be a horizontal placement problem, you can adjust this in the Subtitles tab in tsMuxeR.

Maybe the problem sub files are somehow not compatible. I'd try converting them through Subtitle Workshop.

Load your problem sub file, then simply save as .srt (SubRip). Maybe that'll help.

@ RYU or Odin

I read and memorized "Blu-ray conversion guide" but smthns not right ...
I can't get to add those lame borders ...
Here's what I do:
1. i have a sample of 55.5 Mb and the specs look like this :

Format : BluRay Video
Format/Family : MPEG-2
File size : 55.5 MiB
Video #1011
Codec : AVC
Codec/Info : MPEG-4 AVC
Codec profile : High@L4.1
Width : 1280 pixels
Height : 544 pixels
Display Aspect ratio : 2.35

2. I open meGUI and follow all the steps in the tut :
-Tools > AviSynth Script Creator > Video Input ( i enter the path to the .m2ts file sample ) > Edit (since the video resolution is 1280/544 acording to you formula i have to add 90 lines each for the top and bottom of the video so the script look like this :

DirectShowSource("D:\Sample Video.m2ts",fps=23.9759856527702,audio=false)
AddBorders(0,90,0,90)
#deinterlace
#crop
LanczosResize(1280,720) # Lanczos (Sharp)
#denoise

3.I save the script in the same folder as the sample making sure the "On Save close and load to be encoded" box is checked
4.In the main MeGUI window i change the file format to "RAWAVC"
5.Encoder settings is set to x264:Ryu77Blu-Ray
6.Tools > Bitrate Calculator > File Size i enter 55.5 Mb the size of the sample
.Enqueue
.And now i get an error in the Queue area
job 1 Sample Video codec AVC Mode video Status error
The other job status is waiting
I've noticed that in the tutorial the Mode states 2 pass 1st and 2nd.
What am i doing wrong ...
Thank you in advance ...

You might need to go into MeGUI settings and configure the application paths. Also, take a look at the x264 log file path.

Also, your calculation for the borders is slightly out. 720 - 544 (your video resolution) = 176. 176 / 2 = 88. So you should have added 88 lines to each the top and bottom.

I decided to approximate to 90 because the guide states :
"It's actually short by 89 lines each, but even numbers tend to work out better when encoding, and non‐integer numbers, like 88.8, won't even be accepted."
What do i have to do with the MeGUI settings ... they seem ok ... i don't know what i have to look for ...

Isn't 88 an even number? The resultant resolution must be 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720.

With MeGUI, just check the application path settings. Go to "Options" up the top in the main window. Then press "Settings". Then go to the third tab across labelled "Program Paths". Just make sure they point to all the applications correctly. Also go into the x264 configuration and make sure the logfile points to a valid path.

The only way to make a media file that is too large for a disc fit, is to re-encode it.

There are instructions on how to do this here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639346

Thx 4 your help so far ...
I bumped into another meGUI problem ...
- i open meGUI
- press tools > avisynth script creator > video input (i'm browsing for the location of the sample) and when i find the location meGUI displays an error (you probably don't have -i dunno- some filters)
- i read some more in this thread and someone installed k-lite codec pack
-after the installing and reboot i did the same steps ... meGUI let me go further > i edit the script entering the proper numbers

".........
AddBorders(0,164,0,164)
#deinterlace
#crop
LanczosResize(1920,1080) # Lanczos (Sharp)
#denoise"

but somthn else occured : after i preview the AVS script ,when i press "save" , windows vista opens the same location like the source , i press "save" and an error pops up :
"Haali Media Spiltter
Error:can't open file : the sistem cannot find the path specified"

What am i doing wrong now ?!

Do you have Haali Media Splitter installed?

BTW, there's no need to have your entire posts bolded... :)

You may need to assign a location for the log file, I think you need to do this only once. From the main MeGUI window press the config button, in the logfile field assign where the ".stats" file will go.

Semper_Fi, it's not "another" problem like you said. It is the same problem that I suggested you fix earlier. You need to go into the x264 configuration and select a valid path for the log file.
