I wish someone will find a solution to the green bar issue.
MKV2VOB is quite good but takes alot of time comparing to the TSMuxeR.

There is a solution, and it has been know for quite a while now. You need to either play your file as m2ts or resize to a BD compliant stream, 1920x1080 or 1280x720. Go here for help with this.

There's a good guide and all of the tools needed right at the beginning of the thread.

I've never had a problem before when using tsmuxer but I now have a m2ts file that I cannot change the video level on. Normally if the file won't play (on the PS3) I'll use tsmuxer to change the level and everything is fine. What do I do if the change level checkbox is grayed out? I've tried getting a fresh copy of the m2ts file but that didn't work either (thinking maybe the one I had was corrupt).
Any ideas?

Can't say that I've come across that before. The file could be corrupt. Just make sure the video stream is highlighted in the Tracks box. Some level 5.1 vids play on the PS3, have you tried a small sample?

Well I've already ruled out the file corruption possibility and I'm definitely selecting the video stream. I looked at a couple more video streams but they too are "locked in" at level 3. The streams play fine on my computer, just not the PS3. Is there any way to change this level with something other than tsmuxer?

h264info. Load the raw h264 file, set the output name and manually enter the level, then go.
If your file is at level 3 it should play. What container is it in?

If your files are straight from a Blu-ray rip then there is no modification needed, and I'm pretty sure all AVC Blu-rays are High Level 4.1 AVC.
BD's encoded in VC-1 will not play as an m2ts file, period. These files need to be recoded to h264.

The problem is something other than the elementary video stream. The reason tsMuxeR would have the level option greyed out is because the PS3 can read M2TS files with an AVC stream level 4.1 or lower. Since it is already level 3, tsMuxeR has this greyed out as there is no need to change it. Also I believe that changing the level from anything higher than 4.1 is no longer needed since a couple firmware releases ago, as the PS3 now uses the actual stream to determine the level. So provided the stream is encoded within the level 4.1 (or lower) profile, everything should play fine (regardless of what level the stream was tagged as).

That definitely explains a lot! Thank you!
The files are VC-1 so how would I go about converting them to h264?

Download the guide and apps at the beginning of this thread, all of the apps needed are in the Kit and Guide bundle.

Read through the thread too, there's a lot of good information, this is how Ryu77, myself and others do our BD rips.

I've been through the entire thread and could not find anything similar to my problem. Please help!
I'm using TSMuxer (great piece of software) to make a Blu-Ray structure, playable on my PS3. Video is great, multiple subs work perfectly and it's fast. But, audio is an issue. Everything I create downgrades surround sound to 2-channel LPCM. Even more confusing is the fact that if I copy the \BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts to the PS3 and play it as is, it works great. But, without the subs. Did anybody come across anything similar, or has knowledge about it. Please write.

You will probably have to give a little more information about what program you are using that is downcoding your audio. tsMuxeR doesn't do any recoding at all. As far as the subtitle thing goes, m2ts streams do not contain any subtitles and, therefore, cannot display them. If you want subtitles, you'll have to keep the entire Blu-ray structure, as the subtitles are in a separate file, or you can choose to hardcode the subtitles into your video file so that they are permanently displayed. Obviously, this won't work for you if you want to keep multiple subtitle tracks. You can also go to this thread to find out more about recoding HD video.

Thanks for your reply!
I'm not downcoding anything, I use TSMuxer to create a Blu-Ray structure from an mkv file, to be burnt on a DVD-5 (UDF 2,50). This is playable on PS3, but calls it AVCHD. I've tried several mkv files with the same result, regardless if the audio is DD, DTS, HD or any other extended format, the PS3 sends an audio stream to my receiver that is 2-channel LPCM.
This the audio info from the \BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts created by TSmuxer. It's the latest file I used.
General
ID : 1
Complete name : D:\Filmer\Madagascar.2005.720p.BluRay.x264-SiNNERS\Madagascar\BD Directory\BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts
Format : BDAV
Format/Info : BluRay Video
File size : 2.37 GiB
Duration : 1h 25mn
Overall bit rate : 3 945 Kbps
Maximum Overall bit rate : 35.5 Mbps
Audio
ID : 4352 (0x1100)
Menu ID : 1 (0x1)
Format : AC-3
Format/Info : Audio Coding 3
Duration : 1h 25mn
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 640 Kbps
Channel(s) : 6 channels
Channel positions : Front: L C R, Rear: L R, LFE
Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz
Language : English
And as I said earlier, if I play the file \BDMV\STREAM\00001.m2ts alone in my PS3 all works fine, except for the subs, which I am aware of.
Thanks again for your reply.

This may be dumb, but have you checked your audio settings in your PS3? Maybe you've got the output set at Stereo.
...maybe?

Do you use HDMI or optical for your audio hook up?

I would like to apologize in advance but i went lost with all the guides. i seached and shearched and went crazy.
my goal is to see MKV movies on PS3.
MKV2VOB is very slow.
i must have subtitles and tsMuxeR option is the best i like.
but most of the BD rips are not in the blue ray resolution and causing this green bar to appear.
is there a quick way to overcome this problem.
i tried meGUI but it seems that it's encoding the movie.
thanks,
shraga007

Yup, that's waht you need to do. In order for subs you need a properly sized video and the only way to achieve that is to recode.
The guide at the beginnign of this thread will help you with everything.
