At one point Ryu had a profile that output the video stream at AVC Level 5.1... do you recall when you muxed everything together what the level was. If it was 5.1, try changing it to 4.1.

DTS to AC3, yes. Use eac3to and eac3toGUI. Eac3to does the work but is command driven, use the GUI to guide it for you.
I think when the files muxed together have issues when they are split. Do your subs work on part 1 of the split files, and do they your if you mux as one whole file?

I have a file that is BD compliant (1920x1080)
I know that not only by it's description (name) but from info tools of my player (KMPlayer) and mkvinfo as well ...
I was so happy beacuse i don't have to add bars , and i muxed it into an AVCHD (as i did several times) but this one failed me : no image just sound ...
Is it my error , did it happened to you too ?!

After i added bars to a movie to make it bd compliant i remuxed it with the DTS audio and played it to see if the audio matches perfectly with the video ...
Surprise :
The first 2-3 minutes are in sync but after that everything goes out of sync ...
How can i fix that ?!

Movies with DTS must be in Blu-ray format to work on the PS3.

The video must be recoded using a Blu-ray profile... for playback on the PS3 or BD player. Most likely the original encode was meant to be played on a PC, so it was encoded out of the BD spec.

Is there anyway after i did this step in this video to get it to fit on disc with no quality loss what so ever.
I very much appreciate if anyone's got a video or pic or info to help me and out and other wanting to know how to do this.

Why don't you just use mkv2vob to remux the mkv into a .vob container and stream it to the PS3? There's no loss of quality.

For this kind of file i use a tedious but working procedure:
You need MkvToolinx-2.1.0 , MKVExtractGUI-1.6.4 , Tranzcode-0.40
, Ac3tools-Pro-1.21.096.
With mkvextract extract only the dts track.
Then with tranzcode transform the dts track in 6 PCM mono tracks (warning: you need A LOT of space on disk, like 6 gigs)
Use Ac3tools to create the ac3 track, just select 5.1 on the right and load the correct track in the correct box.
When you have your filename.ac3, use tsmuxer, drag and drop first the mkv file with the dts+h264, remove the dts track, then drag the ac3 track.
The usual 4.1 for the h264, .m2ts file and if you need it the split function, then GO.
I did this for a few files in 720p with dts sound: blade runner, terminator 2, pulp fiction...they all work perfectly, in sync and with correct channels and no noise or glitch.

So what do i have to do with it now to "make it happen"

the source was .mkv but i already managed to fix it : it was the frame rate.
meGUI only allows 24,25 (round numbers) not 23,976 like the actual fps of the movie was.
But after i was finished adding bars to the .264 video file i muxed it with mkvmergeGUI with the DTS-ES audio and there i got the cjance to change the fps to the real one , and it worked like a charm.
P.S. Missed you guys.

MeGUI does allow any frame rate... 23.976 or whatever. As for your other issue, use MeGUI and make a new h264 video and use a SA_Blu-ray or Ryu77 profile, add the borders if neccesary.

Hey Ryu77 and Odin ... dudes, you rock! :D ... Thanx for creating such
good threads, and putting up so much information here for all of us :)
..
OK guys, I have a few questions ...
I have this collection of HD Movies in MKV format, and I want to
convert them in AVCHD Discs, so they are playable in my PS3 ..
Most of these MKVs are not in proper HD resolutions. Most are either
1280x544 or 1280x688 .. I need to bring up upto 1280x720 ...
I know that in order to add borders, I need to use MeGui/Avisynth .. I
have some questions about this process, since I am doing this for the
first time:
1) Is there anyway to let the actual video remain untouched, and that only borders are added ? That is, the conversion process doesn't re-encode the complete thing, only simply just add borders ?
1) Is there is a guide for this process anywhere here ?
2) Can you please provide me with the complete Avisynth script which I
need to add borders to an MKV file ? I know there's the Addborders
command, but I dont know whether anything else is needed in the script
or not ..
3) Can I just use the exact same audio from the original MKV file .. ?
That is, I don't need to process that in any way ? If so, how do I do this in Megui ?
4) What are the options 'Add pre-rendering job' and 'Auto Encode' ?
Thanx in advance guys ... any help here would be really appreciated :)

Thanx odin, I found that great guide a little while ago ..
right now I am re-encoding a small test mkv file ... Trying to resize the resolution from 1280x688 t0 1280x720 ..
I have a question regarding the script file. Can you tell me if this script is OK?:
DirectShowSource("C:\HDtest\testfile.mkv",fps=23.9759856527702,audio=false)
AddBorders(0,16,0,16)
#deinterlace
#crop
#resize
#denoise
Secondly, should I use the resize command ? I mean, from what I understand, I don't think I need to use it, since adding the border makes the resulting resolution into 1280x720 .. So should I still use the resize command ?

No, this can not be done. The only way to add borders is to re-encode the video with the borders added.
Originally posted by ahmadka: 1) Is there is a guide for this process anywhere here ?
As above.
Originally posted by ahmadka: 2) Can you please provide me with the complete Avisynth script which I

I can see that you have the right script now, so you are right here.

As long as it is within Blu-ray specifications. The most common format of audio that isn't compatible would be AAC (Advanced Audio Codec). If you come accross this format, you could wither remux into MP4 format (which is also compatible with the PS3) or you could re-encode the audio.
EAC3to is the better way to process the audio. Although, the Aften encoder in MeGUI is quite good too. You will need to use AVIsynth to serve the audio into MeGUI. Also, there are less encoding options available in MeGUI compared to EAC3to.
Originally posted by ahmadka: 4) What are the options 'Add pre-rendering job' and 'Auto Encode' ?
Don't worry about those. For our purposes, we wont be using those features.
Originally posted by ahmadka: Thanx in advance guys ... any help here would be really appreciated :)
Once again, no problem. Welcome to the thread. If I could ask one favour though. Could you please go back and edit 2 of your previous posts so that only one of these repeated posts remains. I know AfterDawn can sometimes repeat posts, but if you could fix it that would be appreciated. :-)

There's a nice (kind of new) little application that is developing quite nicely. It is a GUI for EAC3to that allows us to identify which playlist points to the correct M2TS files. This is quite useful for those that have trouble with multiple M2TS files that need to be appended.
This application can also create a text file with the chapter information and allow you to demux the desired tracks you wish to keep with ease.
HdBrStreamExtractor Download Link
PS: You will need to make sure that this application is executed directly from the EAC3to folder. I have also modified the cover page to "The complete HD (Blu-ray/HD-DVD) back-up thread.", to add this application. EAC3to and More GUI has also been added and definitions have been modified slightly.

OK I'm repeating my last question here again :P
I'm re-encoding this MKV file through MeGui to change the resolution from 1280x688 t0 1280x720 ..
For this, I have come up with this script:
DirectShowSource("C:\HDtest\testfile.mkv",fps=23.9759856527702,audio=false)
AddBorders(0,16,0,16)
#deinterlace
#crop
#resize
#denoise
Is the above script OK ?
Also, should I add the LanzcosResize( .. ) command to it ? From what I can understand, I don't think thats needed ... what do you say ?

Yes, the above script is fine. You do not need to add a resize filter unless you have a resolution not conforming to Blu-ray specifications.

I'm going to be so happy if Sony starts supporting MKV.
With the upcoming release of DivX 7, this may be a reality.

OK, I have another question ...
When you convert an MKV file into an AVCHD Bluray, the size increases slightly... For example, a 4.37 GB MKV file can transform into like a 4.55 GB AVCHD Bluray Disc, which obviously doesn't fit on a single layered DVD..
So since I'm re-encoding my MKV in MeGui anyway, I had the idea that I should probably decrease the size of the projected output, so that when it gets converted into an AVCHD Bluray disc, it comes to 4.37 GB ..
The problem is that I dont know exactly how much the size increases, so I can offset that amount down in MeGui ...
Anyone know how this increase in size can be calculated (its different for every conversion I think) ... ??

Yes, the above script is fine. You do not need to add a resize filter unless you have a resolution not conforming to Blu-ray specifications.
Does this still apply even though the source was 1280x688? I know adding the black lines brings it up to 720, isn't the resize neccesary?
