If you have a dms4 chip with the new toxic bios yes
Other that no it has be rebuilt.
Below are the changes and updates to TOXiC BiOS v1.3 as well:
Added support for DVD+R dual layer media, making DMS4 the worlds first
modchip to support dual layer backups.
Fixed devolution mode with MM16 cards
Fixed booting PSX games which do not have SYSTEM.CNF

hey ModIt, or anyone else who got this working using only Sonix only version of the instructions...
Why would only some people run into the system.cnf error?
I made the workaround using cddvdgen and have 4 .bin files waiting at home for me to combine, but I'm curious.
Thanks again everyone, and especially kenshin for confirming SM 3.3 works.

the reason for the error is that the iml file that comes from sonix looks in a specific location for the files, that's why it has to be placed in C://GOD
I've used both Sonix's method and Jizmak's and they both work great.
Thank you very much Sonix and Jizmak, we all appriciate your hard work.

I have tried the cd loader and the DVD Loader and they both will not get past the first screen. What about that cogswaploader, maybe that will work.Does the new swap magic make it where you don't have to use the cd loaders? That would be sweet because they are a pain in the ass..

This game I would have to say was the biggest pain in the a$$ to rip... not that it was that hard... just all the waiting time sucked!! I finally got it working using SONIX tutorial but used JIZMAK's tutorial (Sony CD/DVD Generator) to complete it since the IML file appeared to be corrupt... ended up with a file 3.47 gig as per the tutorial........... I have SM 2.0 and a v7 PS2 and i had to use DVDloader to get it to boot... seems to work perfect.... so from what I understand it will boot with SM 2.0 but you have to use DVD Loader...and from the posts I have read SM 3.3 or 3.6 will boot it without using DVDLoader...
Here is how I got it to boot....
1) Load Swap Magic DVD
2) Swap for DVDLoader
3) Press X
4) Press X again
5) Choose 2nd option
6) Press X
7) Press Eject button
8) Put in Swap magic DVD
9) Now Press X again
10) Swap for your back up
11) Press X
12) Your back up now should boot

I have the 3.47 Gig iso ready to burn, using the same method as JLF24 just described (have Sonix/half jizmak-sonix). I apologize for being igorant, but what is the DVD loader? I have swap magig 3.3 which I assume negates the need for the loader, so once I burn I expect it to work like any other backup.
Will report back

Well I got the "Not a Valid PS2 Disc" error.
I even tried swap magic CD, then DVD but it didn't like that so I never got to load the game.
However, I recall after Apache finished doing it's thing, the program crashed. I had the iso, so I didnt think much of it since I was away from my computer when it had crashed and popped up the error. Also the bottom of the disc doesn't look like 3.4G, it's only a third full looking.
I'll have to start from square one with the Jizmak version and step through everything.

I ended up starting over so I didn't make another coaster. I followed the Jizmak version, which is the SONIX version up until cddvdgen. So I used CDVDgen and the only thing is that I had to close Apache2 as soon as it finished making the *final* iso so it wouldnt crash (which I suspect is why my first attempt didnt work). I did that and now have a working copy. So it only took me 2 tries and I still dont know why some people get the system.cnf error...but hey, who cares!
Now... Would it be possible to do the same process, except instead of deleting all the Bonus.pss files and all of the .psw files chose other, regular ones to omit, and thereby have a disc that was good only for bonus content (i.e. after you beat the game)?
I'd love for someone to tweak the steps and post it if this was possible, and I dont see why it wouldnt be. The game videos would not be present, but I would love to be able to see that bonus content after I beat the game.
Thanks all,
- haZe

After you get the necklace and you try to walk into a certain cave in which you need to go into, it freezes at the loading......Anyone else get this far and have this problem??????? I beleive I did everything correct but I discoved a new freeze point. Thanks

I, for one, can't stand everything ripped out of the DVD. I have successfully extracted the pss files and compressed the movies on them, and now I have a FULL working version of the game that works with SM3. Everything on a single layer DVD, pretty sweet.

Just the bonus movies were ripped that are accessible from the menu, every CGI (cut)-scene movie from the game itself is in the torrent version.
Just finished the game, it's an awesome piece of art.
