I just wanted to add that I now have 100% certainty (the 2.20 firmware is finally available on the Playstation Australia website) that to get subtitles to display with DivX, you will need to mux them into the DivX media format container. This is something I hinted at the PS3 supporting quite some time back. Looks like if you want something bad enough it will happen... Hehe! :-P

Yes, they have been able to do that for quite some time. I'm getting the feeling that you are referring to an older version of mkv2vob? I would recommend giving tsMuxeR a try.

Previously I posted about DivXMuxGUI being the best choice to create DivX media files with switchable subtitles (playable with firmware v2.20).
I have now found that AVIaddXSubs is a better option as it allows you to enter custom resolutions, which is what we need for HD encodes. DivXMuxGUI only outputs subs at 640 x 480. I created a 720p DivX media format file and the subs are working fine.

Yes sorry, it is possible that you have a stream that may not be compliant with the PS3. Could you please use MediaInfoRaw and copy all the information it gives you here for me.
Get MediaInfoRaw from my application link thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639346#3869774

Baryndor, doesn't that version of MediaInfoRaw provide details of the encoding options enabled for the h264 stream? The MediaInfoRaw I am using does. I might have accidentally linked to an older version. I will check that later after when I get home from work.
The information I need is the encoding options that were enabled during the h264 encode.

Yes! :-D
There's a problem right there ^ (ref=10)....
For Blu-ray/PS3 compatibility the maximum amount of reference frames allowed is 5. Unfortunately your only option is to re-encode the video. If you need some help doing that, please just let me know.

Don't use it! Use tsMuxeR instead. J/K Hehe!...
Seriously, I haven't used it in such a long time but DVDBack23 PM'd me the other day that he wants to create a guide for it and wanted my assistance so I downloaded the latest version of mkv2vob and I will check it out over the next day or so. So if you can be patient I will help out soon.
young1298, one thing I'd like to point out though. I requested you used MediaInfoRaw and post the information so I know what we're working with. Baryndor did but you didn't?? Which is why he got the right advice. Could you please do that?
If it turns out that I can guide both of you at the same time it would be more efficient. :-D

hey Ryu,
just a quick question, can tsMuxeR trans code a .mkv file that is larger than 9GBs ? If it's capable of doing so, I'm having this error: Matroska parse error: Read error at pos 115635928. Can you help me ? Thanks in advance

tsMuxeR doesn't do any transcoding at all. It is only a multiplexing/de-mulitplexing tool, that also has Blu-ray authoring ability.

Maybe I have said it incorrectly, I was trying to make a mkv into a m2ts file. Then I recieved that error message. Do you have any ideas about it ? thanks

If you have streaming capabilites use either TVersity (must rename m2ts to m2t), or use what I use, Cyberlink Media Pro/Deluxe. I prefer the latter as TVeristy would make my Vista PC crash constantly.
You can use a usb stick or burn the movie to DVD for archiving. To burn use Nero Burning Rom and make a UDF-Data DVD 2.5 (must be 2.5 or will not play off the DVD). If you go the DVD path I suggest copying from the DVD you the PS3 before you watch it, you'll save the wear-n-tear on the PS3.
