Not sure where to go from there, I personally didn't get that far. I only heard about the renaming part from a reliable source.

If you use Cyberlink Media Pro there is no renaming, indexing, updating involved. It's what I use, I like it.

Have you tried the latest version of tsMuxeR? It is supposed to support VC-1.

Hi Everyone,
I've spent a few hours reading through the forum and picked up as much as I could. This forum is the best resource I have found for HD playback on the PS3.
I'm attempting to back up an HD DVD for playback through the PS3 via streaming and having a tough time. I'll make a few more attempts before reporting back.

Yea, it doesn't work. I think the problem is that the ps3 only supports vc1 in a wmv container and even then it has some very specific requirements on bitrate etc.

You still have to go through the steps mentioned above, then stream/copy the m2ts file.

How can that be true when Blu-ray requires mandatory support for the VC-1 codec?
I am referring to tsMuxeR v1.7.2. The Author has stated that improvements have been made for VC-1 support.
See my download section here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639346#3869774
I try to keep all these as updated as possible! :-D

That depends what you mean by Cyberlink? Do you mean Power Producer 5 or Power Director 6? Both of these have Blu-ray authoring so if you are authoring Blu-ray discs through these programs then of course you will not need to use tsMuxeR. However, tsMuxeR can often simply repack a stream saving the time consuming exercise of re-encoding, which is more than likely what the Cyberlink programs will do.

Ryu, I mentioned to him Cyberlink Media Pro earlier in this thread... the proggy I use to stream/copy.

tsMuxeR is a great program, thanks for the tip on that. I've used it on 3 movies and 2 of them worked. This program is fast too! I had to change the file extension to .vob to get tversity to stream them though.
Question.
What program can I use to convert WMVHD movies with WMA Pro 5.1 audio to something I can stream to the PS3?
DOOM

m2ts media files can not play DTS audio. You will need to re-encode to AC3. You can use EAC3toGUI for that.
You can get it from my download links thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639346

Thanks Ryu77, I had another question about something you've posted before about being able to copy a burned m2ts file to the ps3 hard drive to keep down on wear and tear of the bluray drive. I made avchd data disc from a mkv file using the tsmuxer and it plays fine but i don't get the option on my ps3 to copy it to the hard drive when i press the triange. I was wondering to you have to burn just the stream file or the whole bluray file structure to be able to copy it to the HDD from the disc?

Hey All.
Read through this entire thread and can't seem to find the answer to my problem.
I have an mkv file with the following specs (as seen in TsMuxer):
VIDEO:
codec:H.264, Profile: High@5.1, Resolution: 1280x720p, 23.976fps
AUDIO:
codec:AC3, Bitrate: 640kbps, SampleRate: 48KHz, Channels: 6
I understand that this file will not play on my PS3 as the Profile is High@5.1
I've followed the guide in these forums (http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_mkv_content_on_playstation_3_ps3.cfm) to change the video stream to Level 4.1.
I've also saved the file as a .M2TS file by selecting the M2TS muxing option.
The issue I'm having is that when I use Nero to burn the M2TS file to a dvd-r, the PS3 will only play the audio but I can't see the video.
Any idea why this might be happening?
Is there any additional information I can provide that may help solve this problem?
My main goal is to keep the video quality of this 720p HD movie and the AC3 5.1 track. I've got the 5.1 part down, I just can't see the video on my HDTV.
I want to use TSmuxer as it seems to be the fastest out of all the other programs I've tried (if I can get it to work that is) while keeping the original audio and video quality after the conversion. I've tried the other programs (mkv2vob, etc.) but didn't like the quality that resulted from the conversion...plus it took ages to convert.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I think I MAY have found the problem based on what I read on the previous page in this thread.
ref=16 for my video.
"For Blu-ray/PS3 compatibility the maximum amount of reference frames allowed is 5. Unfortunately your only option is to re-encode the video."
Anyone confirm that is indeed the issue?
If yes, please help on how exactly I accomplish changing the frames
Also, does changing the frame degrade the video?
If that's not what is causing the video issue, then I have no clue.
Thanks.

Hi Ryu,
Here's what I've tried so far and still not getting it. Starting with an .evo file ripped from HD DVD.
1. used Evodemux with default settings to extract a single h264 and e-ac3 file
2. used h264info to change level to 4.1
3. used tsMuxeR to mux a .m2ts
Here's the output below:
SmartLabs tsMuxeR. Version 1.6.3(b) http://www.smlabs.net
Decoding H264 stream (track 1): Profile: High@4.1 Resolution: 1920:1080p Frame rate: 29.97fps
H.264 muxing fps not set. Get it from stream.
B-pyramid level 2 detected. Shift DTS to 3 frames
Decoding E-AC3 (DD+) stream (track 2): Bitrate: 1536Kbps Sample Rate: 48KHz Channels: 6
H264 bitstream changed: insert SPS/PPS units
Processed 183666 video frames
Mux successful complete.
Muxing time: 64 min 14.8349 sec
I end up with a 21 Gig file. I used to be able to stream using SimpleCenter but now I just get an error "HTTP 500"; I can figure that out later or turn to a different media server.
So I split the file to 3.95 Gigs each using HDBDSplitGUI, put them on a FAT32 external and copy them to the PS HDD.
Result: I navigate to the file in XMB and start it; the pS3 is non responsive, just a black sceen and no audio. I have to press START or X to get the PS3 to respond, indicated by the little play/start button at the bottom left of the screen, but still just a black screen.
I can only see an image when I ffw and rw 10x or 30x, when I hit START or X the picture just freezes on the frame at that time; I can move through the content only by using the ffw and rw function.
I tried muxing in TsMuXeR with just the h264, no e-ac3 as I suspected the audio file.
Result: jerky, frame skipping playback with some macroblocking, no sound of course.
**Even the "thumbnail previews" in the XMB are skipping frames.
Don't laugh guys, I'm using a PC with the following specs for demux/mux:
P3 1 Ghz
256 SDRAM
Playstation 3 is the 40 GB version with 2.20 fw.
