Ok, NexGen76... From looking at your info from MediaInfoRaw, the good news is that your video stream is compatible with the PS3 without re-encoding.
The bad news is... As I said before by creating a M2TS media file or mini Blu-ray disc, the final output will be too big for a DVD-9. So since DTS is only compatible with Blu-ray structure anyway, and your video resolution is not compatible with Blu-ray structure but is compatible in a raw M2TS media file (did I lose you yet? :-P), my suggestion is to demux the DTS then re-encode it to AC3. This is a win/win situation in that it makes it possible to export a M2TS media file (raw M2TS supports AC3) without re-encoding the video and it will shrink final file size enough to fit onto DVD-9.
1) Use MKVextract GUI to demux DTS audio from original MKV file.
2) Use EAC3to (with EAC3toGUI) to re-encode DTS to AC3 (5.1 channel @ 640Kbs).
3) Open tsMuxeR and load both original MKV file and new AC3 audio file.
4) Disable DTS audio.
5) Disable "Continually insert SPS/PPS".
6) Select M2TS output and press "Start Muxing".

Hey I got 2 questions for you.
1. Is it possible to convert 1080p video to the ps3? Every video I have tried plays the audio and not the video once ive streamed it over to the ps3. The only movies I can get to work are 720p. Sometimes those only play audio and not video. I tried your recode method with Nero 8 Recode and it errors when I open the .mkv file.
2. I have a 32 inch 1080p lcd tv and on the 720p video files that I do get to work, some of them play full screen by default and some of them play in widescreen by default where it cuts the top and bottom off. Is there a way to fix that without loss of quality?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have a couple questions Ryu.
1. You said the video resolution (1920x816) is not compatible for BD structure, why is that?
2. Recenlty I have tried to create a BD structured movie with the latest TsMuxeR with h264 video, AC3 and DTS audio. The end result is as if the video is zoomed in and will not fit on my screen. Also any text is, i.e. from the display is very large. There is also a large, very bright green bar at the bottom of the screen. DTS and AC3 both worked fine.
3. once again in your most recent post to NexGen76, you instructed to Disable "Continually insert SPS/PPS". What does this feature do and why would it need to nbe disabled.
Thanks once again for your infinite wisdom in video processing!!!!

Hey guys, I made a separate thread about this as well, so you can please either answer my query in here or in the thread.
I've been using mkv2vob to bring my x264 to PS3. It works flawless.
Except the subtitles part. All my mkv's have the subs built in, and if I click "Always Encode Subs" then I can't turn the subs off they are hard encoded there.
Is there any way I can create these with the option to turn the subs on and off? It becomes a problem in movies like 30 Days Of The Night were I need the subs for Vampire speak.
Thanks.

I bought a PS3 a few days ago and have been really impressed by the ease in which it is possible to convert MKV video to working files that play well on the PS3 via mkv2vob (outstanding program)... but would like to be able to make it 'perfect'(for my use at least) ..
I am on PAL STD-TV (no HDTV)and therefore everything that plays on my PS3 at NTSC video rates (just about everything) looks a little jerky (but picture beautiful.. PS3 does a great job of making it just work!) and therefore need to have the framerate (and audio) speeded up to around 25fps to make it appear smoother.. and wonder what would be the best method to go about this and still continue to use mkv2vob prior or afterwards..
Getting the video/audio to 25fps would suit my purpose perfectly.. and would appreciate any help.

Hi Folks
I have a list of mkv files(14 to be exact) which would amount to less than 2GB what would be the best way to combine them into a mini Blu-ray DVD giving me separate selectable chapters which will play from the PS3?

I cant get 1080p movies to play either...I get audio and no video but RYU said you can play them somehow I think. But for your audio question you have to convert them to ac3. You most likely have DTS audio files at the moment. you should use eac3. This is the command line utility and the GUI. 2 different links. When you use install these put them in the same directory and just open it with the eacgui.exe That might not be exact but its close to the file name. Also when using the program you have to change the filter to libav I believe is how its spelled...The sonic and nero filters dont work. The program is also very picky with saving it. It doesnt like underscores and long paths to a file. So if it errors on you try moving it to a root drive or making the name smaller. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_...tools/ac3to.cfm

The Sonic filter is recommended for DTS decoding, not Libav. The reason you are saying that the Sonic or Nero decoder don't work is because you don't have them installed. For Sonic, you need the Sonic Cineplayer decoder installed. For Nero, you need Nero 7 installed (doesn't work with Nero 8).
In regards to why some movies the video or audio wont work, I have covered this many times on this thread. I'll summarise again and for the rest of the info you can search this thread. If you have DTS audio, there are two options. 1) Create mini Blu-ray disc (AVCHD) and keep the DTS audio. 2) Re-encode the audio to AC3 and create M2TS media file instead. For video not working, the video is encoded above the h264 4.1 level boundaries... You will need to re-encode.

For Blu-ray output, your resolution needs to conform to standard 720p (1280 x 720) or 1080p (1920 x 1080). This is the same as DVD's needing 720 x 480 (NTSC) or 720 x 576 (PAL). If you do not use these resolutions, then you will get a green bar filling up the remainder of the lines.

How would you go about changing a video's resolution from 1280x528 to 1280x720? I tried doing this through h264info, then running through TsMuxeR, then burn with Nero. Now the video does not play wheras before (1280x528)it did but with a green bar.

Only way is to re-encode the video. By changing the resolution in h264info just created a bad file. You are telling the decoder that it is 1280 x 720, when in fact it is 1280 x 528.

Hey Ryu. When using EACGUI what do those different filters do? I just have used libav because it works lol. Also I tried your re-encoding method with nero and all my mkv files come up with an error. Even the ones that I didnt need to re-encode. My main problem is that ALL 1080p movies I convert play no video but audio. I get this sometimes with 720p too but nero doesnt like my mkv files. Am I SOL on this? or is there another way to re-encode?
Some of my 720p movies play at the full screen of my 1080p lcd and some play at widescreen where it cuts off some of the top and bottom. Is there a way to get them to play full screen without degrading quality?

OK, so I re-encoded to 1280x720 using Nero (the only way I know how), the 192 lines that were added show up as a blur across the bottom of the screen. Is there another way to do this so there is no blur, maybe just more black lines?

javadudd, if you look up a few posts you will see that I already covered the green bar problem you are experiencing.
Regarding your second video not playing, I have no idea why. It all looks good to me. The encoding parameters all look within Blu-ray compliancy. I guess you will have to re-encode too.

Just trust my guidance. :-D Download the applications I recommended, run them and follow the steps I listed. I think you will find that it is much easier to do than you think. If you get stuck, let me know and I will be happy to help.

Yes, you will need to use the AddBorders command in AVIsynth. Also javadudd and Odin24, I would recommend getting familiar with MeGUI and using x264 as your encoding application. On my download links thread I have included MeGUI x264 Blu-ray profiles: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639346
By using those profiles you are ensuring that you are creating videos that are compliant with the Blu-ray standard. The only thing you will need to change is the bitrate to reach your desired final file size. Don't forget to allow 6% for M2TS/Blu-ray header size.
By using MeGUI, you will need to become familiar with AVIsynth scripting. You could use AVSedit (also on my links thread) as this makes the scripting a much easier task.

If you are talking about the audio encoding, I didn't recommend the Nero decoder in EAC3to for DTS to AC3, I recommended the Sonic filter. As I said for it to work you will need to download and install The Sonic Cineplayer decoder. This you will have to find yourself (hint: torrent search). Just a tip, that thread that you linked to at PS3HaX.net doesn't really sound like they know what they are talking about. Yes, thay are using the same method that I have recommended but they have no idea what the filters or settings do... http://www.ps3hax.net/video-conversion-e...t-its-here.html
As for the videos not opening in Nero, yes MKV files can not be opened by Nero. You will need to repack the video into a different container or use the "DirectShowSource" command in AVIsynth to load your video.

That is normal, it is just a different aspect ratio. The movies with the black border at the top and bottom are 2.35:1. The movies that fill your screen are 16:9.

You will need to create Blu-ray structure. If they are 1080p, you can use SUPread, tsMuxeR and ImgBurn (or Nero) to perform this task. See my links thread posted above ^.
1) Convert srt subtitle to sup using SUPread.
2) Mux video with new subtitle file with tsMuxeR (output Blu-ray).
3) Burn BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders created with tsMuxeR as UDF v2.50 with ImgBurn.

You would need to use AVIsynth and use the "AssumeFPS(25, sync_audio=true)" command and encode via MeGUI using the x264 codec and Blu-ray profiles (as referenced to above^). If you want to handle your audio separately, use the "-speedup" command in EAC3to. Finally mux it all back together using tsMuxeR. From what I understand though, you will not be able to export Blu-ray from tsMuxeR as it does not support 25fps. A raw M2TS file from tsMuxeR should be fine though.
I haven't actually done this conversion with HD media as I don't really see the need. I have done this to create PAL DVD material though, so my logic tells me that it would work in the same manner. Let me know how you go.

It looks like you will need to re-encode too. For the files with the video not working, it is likely that you will need to re-encode the video. The files with the audio not working, re-encode the audio (or for DTS, output Blu-ray instead of raw M2TS). Follow the advice I posted above. If you want me to say for sure if your video is compliant with the PS3 or not, grab MediaInfoRaw from my download links thread and post the information as javadudd did.
Phew!!! Did I cover everybody?
For application downloads that I referenced to in the above post, see here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/639346
If anything is not clear here, please ask. I am always happy to help.

The one directly above your first double post. I quoted quite a few different AfterDawn mambers questions and answered them individually. Yours is the last one on that post.
